    Shameful

Shame on you, Apple. This is my third charger in 40 months. I'm careful with it and I'm still getting significant fraying. The pricing is an abomination and the quality should embarrass you.

    Completely Useless

My laptop (Macbook Air) was purchased two years ago, in the spring of 2015. I've just had to purchase my THIRD CHARGER IN TWO YEARS. This last charger lasted only 15 months, and shorted out for no reason. There is a small amount of wear and tear on the plastic near the adapter head, and that's it. I cared for it impeccably, and it still broke. Apple computers are well designed from an aesthetic standpoint, but they don't hold up. I'll be purchasing from a different company for my next computer - I'm tired of paying so much money for accessories that should last.

    Works Well

I love the MagSafe feature. I've had Macbooks with this style of cable (MagSafe and MagSafe 2) for going on 6 years. I'm still using the original cable with no signs of needing to purchase a new one. It is purely a matter of how the cable is coiled for transport. Cables love curves, not bends. I coil the thick power cable in a circle (loosely) around the square transformer block. In the beginning I make sure to twist the cable with my fingers to that it 'lays' naturally in a circle. After doing this a couple of times, the cable gets a 'memory' of being in that circle. I then coil the small/thin cable the same way on other side of the block, so the two circles of cables 'sandwich' the transformer block. The whole set of cables is compact, easy to carry AND they LAST! It takes a couple of minutes the first couple of times, but after that I can coil up a MacBook cable in under 60secs.

I also manage a company with about 20 users. I see LOTS of 'other' ways of storing the cable. Mash them together in a bag, pull/wind the cable around the block perpendicularly, bend coil the cable 'bowtie' style with a wire tie. ALL of these ways lead to problems. I see cables come back on occasion with obvious tension breaks in the cable and connector junctions.

Many users have good intentions, but very few circle coil the cables. I know that 'most' will prefer to not have to do that and want the cable to withstand any/most treatment, but I would think that would result in bigger, bulkier cables. I remember what the Dell cables were like and they did not fair 'any' better, in fact they came back much more often, usually due not being 'MagSafe'. That physical 'plug-in' connection gets a lot of strain.

Anyway, I just wanted to provide another opinion based on my real world experience.

Most fragile piece of rubbish ever. Sort it out apple.

    Buying a replacement --- Again????

Seriously, I'm having to buy my 3rd charger in 3 years. It's one charger per year at this rate! Apple have really let down their customers on this part of the deal. Anyone considering the Apple MacBook Air will have to factor in the replacement charger costs.

    Terrible quality

I am now having to purchase my 4th one! Apple needs to deal with this problem. Poor, poor quality.

    Disposable charger

It's almost as if this charger has a self destruct setting. After using it for 2 years (not doing anything out of the ordinary, always coiling it loosely for transport) the area around the magnetic connector began to fray and a few days later the area coming out of the square adapter started to fray. Within a week of the fraying the charger stopped working. The other end of the charger (from the square adapter to the power source) is perfectly fine and shows no signs of wear. This has happened with every single macbook charger I have owned over the years (6 in total). I have both an HP and a Macbook. My HP charger has lasted for nearly 5 years, shows no signs of giving up and only costs $15 to replace. Having to pay $80 for a charger that is essentially disposable from a company that prides itself in quality, ingenuity and integrity is ridiculous. I love my apple products but something should be done to fix this problem and keep plastic out of landfills. It's a cord and if HP can do it, Apple should be able to do it.

    4 years - Same charger!

I write this review only to contrast the others. I've had my Macbook Air for 4 years soon. Its been charged everyday, used for many hours everyday. Transported almost everyday. And my battery and charger has been working all this time.

I'm not careful, but not overly reckless either. I just stuff things down in the bag and go.

This charger is NOT bad quality. It is good quality. That is to be expected for the price but the people on here saying that its bad must be chewing on the cord or something. Mine is just now beginning to break a little in the cord. After constant use and abuse from 3++ years? Thats good quality!

    HORRIBLE

This charger is a piece of ... Apple Co. has more liquidity than most states in the USSA, I meant USA, and they can't afford to engineer something that'll last more than 1.5 yrs....

    Chargers

Your chargers are poorly made and ridiculously expensive! I've lost count of how many iPhone chargers we've purchased. Now, I need a new charger for my Air Mac at $99 and I haven't read one decent review. Either improve your chargers to reflect the price or reduce the price to reflect the quality! If neither changes I'll take my business elsewhere.

    Poor Quality, Bad Design

The cord frays and is unusable. For a product this expensive, it should last.

But I have to buy one to use my computer.

    Bad design choices. Bad karma.

    Bad Quality!

I am extremely dissapointed that my charger broke in only a few months. The magnetic part stopped working and a tiny gold piece fell off randomly. PLEASE MAKE BETTER CHARGERS. It is insane that I have to buy a new one.

    Expensive

From reading other reviews I seem to have been one of the lucky few who had absolutely no problems with the charger after having it for around 3 years. Unfortunately my roommates cat decided to chew the cord and now I have to spend $100 for a new one...

    Not good

Poorly made. At it's price, you would think it'd be far more durable than it is.

    3rd one in 4 years

About to have to purchase my third one of these in 4 years. Just unacceptable, and I was extemely careful with the 2nd one after the first one frayed and stopped working no matter how much i patched it. #2 has electric tape on it and I can't let the brick hit the floor or it over heats. Won't charge at night for fear of it catching on fire like a friend of mine's did. Plug it in and the charging light and indicator just flashes, not holding a charge.

I love Apple, and expect better from their products. Especially at $80 a pop for a $1,300 laptop.

    WORST DEVICE EVER

Seriously, Apple, this will be my third adapter for my Macbook in two and a half years. How can you ignore all of these angry, frustrated reviews of this horribly designed piece that many are forced to purchase, over and over again, because of a nasty fray at the weakest point? Take a cue from Nike and JUST FIX IT!
