    Cord Damage

It has been observed from past 3 years, the apple products have the best technology and quality no doubt on that. But when it comes to charging accessories it might be phone or the Mac Chargers doesn't happen to stay for a longer time . Iphone chargers not more than 4 months the chargers ends gets stripped off. So happens with Mac book Chargers. This is very bad from apple side.

OK but wish it would be better

Mine lasted about 3 years. I wonder how long it would have lasted if I took my Macbook Air with me everywhere. I've never really used to
replacing my cables as much as I do with Apple products. Coming from a windows laptop I do not recall every having to replace my power cable with the type of usage I have. I would expect more in terms of the quality of the product for the price I am paying.

I do like how it connects firmly and light indicator telling me whether it is fully charged or still charging.

Lasted 2 weeks and then caught fire

The charger which came with my new MacBook Air lasted 3 weeks before overheating and literally bursting into flames. Unable to get a refund as I don't have enough evidence as I mistakenly threw the burning charger into a drain to prevent the fire spreading. Now I face paying out £70 for another one since I need to recover the data I stored on the MacBook Air

    Terrible quiality

At best, and if you are lucky you could get 2 years of out your charger. Apple needs to do a better job of making better quality Macbook Air chargers!

    Love

I've had my MacBook Air for almost two years and the charger that
came with it. I love how portable it is and works great.

Broke and I barely did anything

i seriously just tripped very gently and instead of the lightning piece coming out of the computer, the cord just broke from the battery. i barely touched it! piece of junk cord!

Bloody Awful. Utter Rubbish. Zero Stars.

Third power cord in the life of my mac air - cable never leaves the house, gets no ill treatment, but falls apart simply by existing.. and don't get me started on the useless magsafe connection - a flick of my pinky finger disconnects it.

When is Apple actually going to do something about this known and ongoing problem and save customers from having to keep buying ridiculously overpriced replacement cables, just for the same thing to keep happening again and again, or is that their intention?

These cables aren't fit for purpose and should be replaced at no cost.

Lift your game Apple, your arrogance has become nauseating.

    INCONVENIENT

This charger design is the definition of the worst of the worst. It keeps disconnecting and it's super annoying when you want to charge the laptop and use it on your lap. There is no flexibility to use this whatsoever. I have this strong hatred with this charger, like... who designed this thing anyways? It's so inconvenient and NOT PRACTICAL at all.

My fourth charger since buying this product

I don't know why this charger is so terrible but I'm on my fourth one for the computer. why is this product made so badly? I do not know. It was suggested to me that I take some heat wrap tape and affix it to the connection area where it always breaks and I might just try this. Thank god Apple has good customer service for this product though.

    Frayed cord

Like so many others, I had the same experience of the cord fraying. Ugh! $79 for a new charger? Terrible quality.

    absolute garbage

garbage, it works decent for a decent time but the cord just starts falling apart within the first month. it finally broke down now after 2 and a half year. my guarantee runs for three years and i can't get a replacement or anything because this is considered abnormal damage even though everyone here experienced it. doesn't seem so abnormal to me...

For $80, you think you could get a charger that lasts.

All of the chargers I have purchased for my Macs, wife's Macs have frayed. Takes 6 months if I'm not being careful, 18 months if I am being careful. I end up wrapping them with white electrical tape.

Please redesign this charger! Someone could make a killing if you developed a good quality cord and sold it for $60.

    Less Good than MagSafe 1

It doesn't stay on the computer. MagSafe 1 did. We shouldn't have to purchase unnecessary "upgrades." Apple - you are really pushing any enthusiasm your customers may have had. The gloss isn't that shiny any more, and forcing unnecessary and *extremely* expensive accessories down our throats makes me a take a good look at alternatives.

    It Just Stops Working

I have had two of these chargers already in less than 3 years of having a MacBook Air laptop. The first time it was from the cord fraying and now this second time it altogether stopped working. I thought maybe this was just a scenario of me using it a lot but it seems like this is a very common issue. I don't see how Apple isn't doing anything to fix it after years of the same problem occurring with the same product. Now I have to order another $80 charger because the other $160 I spent only guarantees a year per charger I guess.

    Always wears down

The first one I have still works after 6 years but its stripped everywhere. I bought a second one 4 years in and now that one no longer charges. So I'm on to my 3rd $80+ charger. I had a black MacBook for 6 years and that charger is still in perfect working condition. It looks like apple really dropped the ball on this. Just look at the reviews!

Very bad quality and very expensive to replace

I do some traveling with my MacBook Air so I was not surprised that the cable lasted less than 2 years. I have a (now discontinued) Thunderbolt display so I don't really need the power adapter since I now use mostly my iPad when I travel. I sometimes use my wife's Macbook adapter if necessary but now her cable is frayed and I will have to buy an $80 USD adapter so she can use her Macbook. The cable should be of sturdier quality for the price they are charging or it should be (much) cheaper considering that it is built to last less than a year if you constantly take your Macbook (and adapter) with you.

    Dealbreaker for macbooks

No matter how careful you are with it, the cords will always fray after a while. Apple's iphone cords have the same issue, but thanks to alternate companies that produce iphone cords with different designs, I can rely on those. Unfortunately there aren't any non-Apple products for these and I have to buy another one of these garbage chargers, but next time the charger breaks (presumably in the next few months), I won't bother with macbooks anymore. It's not worth spending $79 every few months just to keep the laptop running.

    Terrible Design!

The design of this charger is unbelievably bad. It will not stay connected. If I even move the computer from my lap to the table it will disconnect. The magnet is not strong enough to support the wider design. The previous design layed flush against the computer so it would not pop off at the slightest movement of the computer, but would disconnect if the cord was tripped over.

I have been left stranded without a charged battery twice now. So to prevent this from happening again, I have to buy an extra cable to carry in my backpack. I understand that the MacBook pro that came out after this one (I bought early 2016), has a new design. I will not buy anymore Apple products. I do not mind paying 3 times more for products that give me no trouble, but the newer Apple products are no better than Android or Windows products. In the last 18 months, I have purchaed a new MacBook Pro, iPhone 7, apple watch, and iPad. I have regretted every purchase except the iPad. I have spent over 50 hours troubleshooting problems with these products and they still do not work properly. I am so frustrated! None of them work as well as their predecessors. Don't waste your money on Apple!

    BREAKING THE BAD BORDER

This is my second MacBook Air and the second anxiety-based breakdown that is dealing with Apple's power charger. I'll skip the nightmare of the last laptop. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I thought starting over would make everything better. What did Einstein say? The definition of madness is doing the same thing under the same circumstances and expecting a different outcome? Yeah, that's me. This time, the charger: 1) falls out at the slightest (and I mean slightest) movement of the computer; 2) began to fray within days of usage; 3) by 10-12 months in, had to be manipulated manually in order to persuade it to light up at all; (whispering gently to it seemed to help, as it does with my pit bull, Ruby); and, 4) once lit, would stay lit for some random, unpredictable period of time of its own liking, then it would turn itself off, well before the machine was--or even close to--fully charged. Forgive my venting. I've had to buy, I think, some five chargers over 2 laptops. Now it's personal. I feel like Will Munny facing off with Little Bill in Unforgiven. I will never buy another Apple product again..As God is my witness.
