4th cable has quit on me

I have had 4 cables quit on me in the space of one month, the cables are the new type with smaller head, the older ones (large connection) still work fine. Apple this is definitely a quality issue for you that will not go away. What will you do about fixing this issue for your loyal customers?

    Not bad. :)

I've been using the first cable since I bought my phone. It's been working well until I found it broke today.
It seems that most people are facing this problem tho, I hope Apple can make improvement on this.

    Appalling quality

I love most Apple products and collectively our family of four have over 20 Macbooks, iPads, iPhones, iPods etc. But the lightning cables are rubbish! We've thrown four of them in the bin in the past few months.

Apple, you really need to do something about the quality control on these cables. Either that or drop the price to about $1.00 at which point we could accept that they are a 'disposable' item.

I hate, loathe, despise these cables! They last all of 5 minutes! Happened with my iphone5 & now even worse with the 6!
Wish I stayed with my Samsung Galaxy! Get your act together Apple!
    Not good enough

not robust at all. Should be called fizzle, not lightning!

The previous design lasted with no failures, this lightning design should be called fizzle because the cable just behind the connector fails there very quickly.

    Very disappointing!

This cable is so poorly made I've had to replace it at least 5 times. I don't know if Apple is doing this on purpose to rake in more money, or just have poor quality control, but the result is infuriating. Please please please CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THE CABLES. Thinking about changing to another phone simply because of this cord

    Apple is a Disgrace

I just don't understand how a huge company such as Apple can rip off its customers and get away with it. I'm a single parent and it took me 6 months to save up for an iPad for my daughter starting college. We've gone through 4 cables (all genuine Apple cables) and now the tip of the 5th is stuck in the port. $469 for a replacement I've been quoted! My biggest gripe is that my poor daughter has been told off so many times for being careless and now I realise it's a faulty design. You're a disgrace Apple. My daughter shouldn't have had to go through that because you won't take responsibilty. You've caused arguments in my house and cost me so much money. I will be very vocal from now on to anyone who will listen about what a disgrace you are. 0 stars.

    Constantly failing

We've gone from about 8 of these in our household down to one working one. They all get damaged around the bottom of the lightning connector. Every single one.

    Absolutely useless and disgusting

The Usb cables are absolutely a waste of $25 I have spent more money replacing charging cables then I have on purchasing my phone. It is terrible that a company like apple could allow such faulty products on the market. I feel it's a money grab on their part as your phone is useless without a cable so you have no choice but to buy a new one every few weeks :( not happy I am seriously thinking of getting a different brand of phone and steering clear of apple all together. I have and iphone 4 cord that is over 4 years old and is still going strong.
Apple really need to pick up thier game and sort this issue.

    Over it

I used to buy cheap knock offs only because the legit ones fail so regularly. How can the cable that came with my phone bring up a screen message saying this accessory is not supported. I've bought different cables that are MFi certified but after a couple of months the same thing, it's too expensive and is the only reason I'm moving away from iPhone in my next upgrade, at least with other smart phones a normal mini usb cable des the job. The fail rate has to be a scam and its killing Apples market share on an other wise great product

Poor Quality - IOS redesign partly to blame.

My family has 8 Apple products that use lightning cables. Apple makes great products - this cable is not one of them. iPhone users plug in this cable at least once per day, so the cable needs to be very robust. I agree with the negative reviews as far as the nature of the problem - despite careful use these cables break often.

An important point that most reviewers have not really touched on concerns the issue that this hardware problem is compounded by a redesign of IOS allowing you iPhone or iPad to "reject" a cable - thus causing them to stop working. Agree?

    Stuck Cables

Plugged my mom's iPhone 5 into computer using 2 different lightning USB cables, and the USB end got stuck both times.

What kind of horrible design flaw is going on here? A quick google search indicates that I am not the only one experiencing this. And to those that say "Just don't pull the cord out by the wire. Disconnect it holding the connector" - well guess what? You don't have enough leverage or grip (without a rubber band or pliers) to get this thing off. I am smart enough to know not to pull by the cord for fear of damaging the wire, so, hanging onto the connector, it took a combination of three people to work together to get it free. One to hold the connector. One to pull the laptop itself in the other direction. One to use a thin rod to add a little more leverage to free the cord. Unfortunately, I can't just produce two copies of myself every time I want to pull this junk cord out of a computer so... You, Apply, have a design problem. It might not be that prevalent, and it may only be something like 10% of your community, but that's 10% you are failing. Google it.

    Lightning charger

Well, we have an iPad air roughly one year old, an iPod less than three months old , and an iphone 6 plus that I've had for six weeks. All of the lightning chargers cords have or are soon to fail, leaving me with no way to charge these devices. I am VERY careful with these charger cables despite the bashing put forth by the very lucky ones whose lightning chargers still work. I am SICKENED, because I was ready to switch to samsung , but didn't because the iphone 6plus was released and it was the answer to my dreams due to it's larger, easier to read size. But now I'm sickened because I have this new iphone 6plus that I'm going to have to spend a fortune in charger cables for; money I can't afford to waste on POOR quality. I can't even buy the cheaper model charger cables because Apple saw to it that they are not compatable with these devices! I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, and that's just where you want me to be, Apple! If the problem isn't fixed by the time I'm ready for a new phone I WILL be switching to Samsung! My husband has already decided he's not going with apple due to these problems- and he IS ready for a new phone. It's sad that this issue hasn't been addressed yet, but then you wouldn't be making money off of us if you fixed it. Well, instead, you'll lose me, and many others, as loyal customers who switch due your selfishness. VERY UPSET!! Wish I did t have to even give it ONE star!!!

    Too fragile

It doesn't take long under normal use for the plastic coating to break at the point of tension, exposing the metal wires. At $20 for this little thing, can the profit margin really be so tiny that the cord can't be built to last?

    An epic fail

I actually have to worry whether my Apple devices are charging, and that is very poor reflection on Apple and their quality control (or lack thereof). The connection simply goes bad between the male plug and the female socket. Use of these cables is an epic fail on Apple's part. I like their products, but I do not like their unwillingness to admit mistakes.

    Cheap Junk!!!

Bought the Iphone 5 after 3 months the cord broke. I have the 3rd generation Ipod (2003) and 2 cords and never had a problem with the cords and both still work. I hope you are reading these reviews, for $20 please make these cords more durable so we don't have to keep spending $20 on these cheap things.

    Worst cable ever made,

I've had my phone for 1.5 years now and I have purchased nine charging cables for my phone. After the fourth Apple charger broke I just started buying the cheap five dollar charges because I could afford to lose five dollars every month. If I could give this product a negative star rating I would. Between the charger and the operating system personally I can't wait for the Samsung galaxy six to come out because I've had it with Apple products.

Horrible quality, doesn't last....when will apple finally fix problems?!

Its an expensive cable that does not last long at all. You're given a years warranty for the cable but you'd be lucky to get a couple months worth of use out it. You could buy cheap $2-$10 cables from cheap stores but they have even less life span. It feels like a con when you buy apple products - I guess they know they have made a nation of braindead zombies who for some crazy reason will dish out whatever money needed in order to have the latest iphone product even though none of the products work correctly.
