    Defective Again After 5 Months

My first cable came together with my iPhone 5 in November 2012 and lasted till October 2013. The end part of the wire nearest to the pin started going loose. I bought another one in October 2013 and now it's defective again, with the same problem. Apple should consider doing something about this cable issue. I can't keep buying one after a few months. And it cost $28/ 1 metre cable!

I have bought more than 20.

My family and I all have iphones/ipads etc and literally ever since apple updated to the new USB cord thingy, it has broken every 2 weeks or so. Because of this, my family is constantly needing to spend money on a stupid USB cable that is going to last less than a month. They are very expensive too!! Would love a refund on every chord I've bought, because it is far too expensive to keep doing this... will think twice before buying an apple product again since we have spent more on the cords than the actual devices themselves.

    The cord is terrible

I literally got my phone on Christmas, and it held up for about a month and a half... This is freaking horrible. I see all the bad review. I mean, it charges great, but if I'm gonna have to continue to buy more and more chargers, um, no! Waste of money. Very dissatisfied.
    I'd give it a 0 rating..

    Terrible

The cable shorted out and when I plugged it into my PC it fried my power supply. Absolutely disgusting product. Never buying Apple again.

    Scale of 1 to 5 stars.... A negative 3

If you are reading this review rather than hurrying up to buy a new cord right away before your phone/iPad runs of battery, this is what I call a lack of foresight on your part. However I do appreciate your time here in a community-based discussion about whether the new lightning cord could be manufactured by the same great minds behind leather jogging pants. Until now, I personally always thought 'Apple' stood for outstanding quality and positive user experience until I bought my 4th cord. As today marking the first day of my new cord, I will be back next week to write an excerpt about my 5th one next week.

    worse cable ever,

Ive been through 7 of these cables, they are usless, do not buy from apple, get the amazon lighting cable, it works and last far better, what a waist of money.

Like all apple accessories and peripherals, this is garbage.

I give this cable 5 stars, but on the negative side of the number line. NEGATIVE 5! Apple should be ashamed at itself for producing such a terrible product, and for making it so expensive on top of that.

    Extremely poor quality!

I'm going through my third cord and I thought it was all my fault. After reading other reviews with the similar experience in the wear and tear by normal use, it's definitely not me! Shame on Apple going cheap on the cord materials and charging a pretty penny!

    terrible product!!

I Recently got the Ipod 5th generation in December. The lightning charger just randomly stopped working even though it was 2 weeks old and not used rough. The charger screwed up my iPod so i had apple replace the iPod for free with the warranty I had.I bought 2 more lightning chargers and one of them wouldn't even charge the iPod! The other one Iv'e been using worked great at first but then ended up quit working. I even made sure to not be on it while charging so i wouldn't break another charger, but it broke once again. Apple seriously needs to fix this product and after seeing all these bad reviews i am fed up about this charger. I don't have the kind of money to keep buying new ones.

    Very Short Lifespan :(

Im sorry to say this but, i have just gone through my thrid charger for my ipad, i recently got it for christmas, so it lasted, lets say almost three months? My first and second chargers never even made it through one month, i am slightly upset due the fact that these chargers are a little unproportionaly priced to their performance, i have over three heads with no cable and no way to charge or use my Ipad, i hope apple can correct this, i really am!

    Poor quality

This cable reliably disintegrates after six month of use. Probably, it's hard to make a cable that holds for more than several months. Let's hope that some day Apple will advance in that quest.

what disaster has to happen. ..

...before Apple does something about these cables. Stop burying your head in the sand, there is some sort of fault with them. Wires coming loose, appliances getting hot, read the reviews for goodness sake. Your appliences are left charging overnight in the bedrooms of 1000s of young adults as well as us oldies. Do we have to wait for a disaster to happen before you look at the problem and replace the? Terrible way to go about things, this is a 00000 STAR rating but that doesn't work either.

    Tired of buying new chargers.

This is getting ridiculous. I thought it was just me and my kids until I came here and read all the other reviews, why has apple not done anything to improve the issue everyone is having with this charger? Maybe because they keep making money of their customers buying replacement? I have many Apple products including an iPhone 4s and iPod touch and the only product that has needed the charger replaced is the iPad mini. Many times, this is the 6th time it breaks. That's $120 just in chargers. I don't want tO buy another one for it to work for 3 or 4 months. Everyone at work also seemed to have their chargers almost broken and with tape all around it. They keep supposedly improving their product, why use an inferior charger and make no changes to it?

Such poor design and quality, we are being ripped off

In the past year I've bought 2 mini iPads for my kids an an iPhone 5 for myself and we're on our 10 lightening USB cable in our house. The quality of this product Is disgraceful and really goes against everything that I though Apple stood for. Why have Apple not addressed this defect and admitted that it's rubbish quality. There are cheaper and better products out there, I've always been an apple fan but I've spent in excess of €200 on charges in 12 months, it's a joke and apple ripping of their customers - I think this is justice instated were apple are now as a world leader in design, quality and innovation - No were. When is the last time we've seen a new and exciting apple product, the lightening charger was the only totally new design in years and look at what we the customers have to say about it. I wish apple would respond to all of us.

    Embarrassing

Compared to the quality level of the four ipads, four iphones and two apple TVs etc. we have, the quality of the charging cables and chargers is a joke. The lightning cable is the worst i.e. the 30 pin was better or less sensitive at charging. We have several devices with micro usb charging and never had an issue. I get it, with the new ios 7 we are pretty much forced to replace cables with OEM, which is fine if you wish to give an impression of "if you buy apple, make sure you keep the receipt". I bought apple to not having to keep the receipt. Think again!

    Piece of junk!

This cord is the worst charging cord I have ever had. I have had my phone for 1.5 years and my iPad for a year and I have gone through 5 cords. They do not hold up at all. The internal wires break near the lightning end of the cord. Not only is this thing not sturdy, it is WAY TOO SHORT. So frustrating that Apple could not come up with a more quality product.

    Horrible

I have already had to buy four cables already. That has totaled up to about 80 dollars and this one has just broken again. Seriously. I can't believe Apple has taken this long to fix such an awful product.
