CHANGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR CABLE! PLEASE!!!!!!

i just bought my iphone 5 like 3 months ago! how unsturdy is the 1m cable that came with it!
after 3mos of normal use, it suddenly changed, like u have to bend it in different sides till u get it charged! and now it is not working at all!
this is so frustrating when you just bought it, and u discovered how poorly made it was!
please improve this kind of accessory...some wire at the end looses..that's the prob i think.
look at other people's feedback.. we are having the same issues. so there is a definite need to
    improve this. thanks! >_<

    Design Flaw

Lets face it, this is a design flaw. They need to completely redesign the cable to make it stronger. I have just ordered a batch of third party cables as its cheaper to have a few spares and throw them away if they stop working than keep buying one expensive cable.

    Terrible!

I got a new iPhone 5 about 3 months ago and so far I have gone through 4 cables! They just stopped working and the wires are all exposed at the connection! I'm not rough with it either. I never had this problem with my iPhone 4S. This review doesn't even deserve 1 star considering how much money I have spent replacing cables!

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars

    Worst cable I've ever used.

Seriously? It hasn't even been 4 months and the cable's broken! Is this like some money making scheme where the cable doesn't even last 4 months and people are forced to buy another cable?! So annoyed.

    TERRIBLE! BREAKS SO EASILY!

Firstly ive gone through 4 cables in 8 months. The plug part is too small to hold onto and pull out of the device without pulling on the wire. I also own an iphone4 with the old cable and ive had ONE cable from when i first got the iphone for about 2 years! The old cable has way more grip that you dont pull on the wires when you unplug the phone. This new "lightening" cable breaks and the wires fray around the plug part. Also with the new ios7 it detects whether or not your cable is an actual apple brand cable and wont charge if its not! So i have to spend $25 on a flimsy piece of wire that will break in 2 months when i could buy the exact same cable for $5 and not care if it breaks in 2 months. MAKE IT DURABLE!

    Absolute GARBAGE

Apple this product is absolute garbage, I have had to replace my charger 5 times now and am getting sick of it!!!
I never had problems like this with my iphone 4 but this 'new and improved' charger is just a joke. Despicable!!!

    Awful!

Had my iPhone 5 for a while now and every night before bed when I try to get it to charge, it is a struggle to say the least. The charging cable only works when put in a specific position which, after an arduous struggle, is very temperamental; It buzzes all the time while charging. On many occasions I have almost bought a new cable, only being held back by the notion that the problem could be my phone. Reading other reviews posted here, it seems the cable is the issue. It also seems that buying a new cable would not solve the problem and I am now looking into investing into a NON-APPLE made dock. Maybe that would actually work!

    SHOCKING

Absolutely terrible, I'm now on my 5th charger in 2 months. The plastic casing starts to crack meaining the phone is constantly vibrating as it goes off and on charge all night!!! Bought and brand new charger and tried to rap some tape to stop it from cracking didnt work at all.

    Not worth the £15

I was given an iPad mini for my Christmas in 2012 and the charger that was included was fine until mid-way through April. I had to bend the cable in certain directions to charge it and then it stopped working completely in July. I ordered another one and it came a week later but that charger only lasted 3 weeks. I then ordered another one which arrived a few days ago but it broke the same day that I got it. Extremely disappointed with these chargers :(

    Worked for about a month.

Got my iPhone 5 at the end of June and my lead stopped working today. Both ends (the lightening end and the USB end) have become mis-shapen and all twisted? Phone only charges in certain positions and when I pick up my phone it stops charging.
Terrible product, going in the apple store soon to enquire about getting a replacement, guessing that I'll need more than one replacement!

    Efficiently great, but..

i don't know if this just happens to me or other users but, me, my mom, and my several friends are using lightning (iphone 5) and unfortunately after using it for almost a year, the cable started to proceed incorrectly, comparing to 30 pin, before the iphone 5, it was really durable, i'm using it for approx 2 years and the condition was still good from the first time i bought it until the last time i switch to iphone 5. after using it for 9 months, my mom, couple of friends, and myself have to buy the new cable because the original one from the box is can't function properly.

    Mine broke buying smsng next

I like the concept but they are just not rugged enough and way too expensive for what it is. Did you (apple) do any reliability testing on this product? If so then your test case was poor.
I am on my 2nd cable now, all original apple cables, all broke. the battery life on the 5 is so sub optimal (even with LTE off etc) that I have to charge everyday - which is ok however not so good when the cables are so flimsy.
The smsng is looking more attractive...

    Apple needs to address this

I have had an I pad 2 and an I phone 5 since each was introduced. To date, I have had to replace the I pad 2 USB to 30 pin charging cable twice and now the I phone 5 USB lightning cable once. All suffer the same defect that the rubber covering of the cable tends to split close to the end that plugs into the device, exposing the wiring beneath. For the smug commentator who remarked that he does not know what the people complaining about this issue are doing with their cables, he needs to be grateful that he has not had this problem and lose the attitude. I treat all my electronic devices very carefully.

In stark contrast and as evidence of this problem, I have never had this issue with any of the many Android phone charging cables I have owned and I treated these devices equally carefully i.e. no differently. Apple is either not performing adequate quality checks on the design and longevity of these cables in normal use testing or is not admitting to the problem!

So given the pretty penny that Apple charges for its cables and its other accessories, I expect much better durability from them and am now resolved to buy only generic cables, until this problem is fixed. I have never had to replace any generic cable I purchased for charging my I pad 2. So I am paying less and getting better quality. Come on Apple, I love your products but this situation has to change!

    Unreliable

As usual the design of this apple accessory is simple and elegant. I bought a second cable to charge my iPh5 in the car. When plugging in (either) I get the charge confirmation sound, sometimes multiple times. If i don't pay close attention to the battery icon change to "charging" I have ended up with a low battery. Not sure if its the cord or the receptacle of the phone.
It would be great if this could be fixed. For the prices Apple slaps on their products they just cannot be cheap. Made in China or not. Bad Apple.

I'm so sick of these chargers.

I've had my iPhone 5 for about 3 months and a bit and I've already had to have about 3 chargers. I'm really annoyed with this because they're about $25 for the long leads and they just end up breaking in a couple of weeks. I think that apple should make the lightning charging end have a metal case so that it won't break as often.

    Cables are terrible

If you are on the go a lot and have your charger with you these cables simply do not last. I'm on my 4th one since getting the Iphone 5 on launch. Same problem each time, they coil up near ends and stop working. Apple should abandon these cables since many others have the same problems. Dollar store quality.

    Time for class action lawsuit

I too have the same problem with this cord. Had it less than 6 months and it stopped working. I thought it was just bad luck but after reading all the negative reviews this is a manufacturing issue. Consumers should not have to bear the cost of poor design. I cannot believe that Apple has not addressed this issue. Is the only way to get a response to this issue is to hire a lawyer?

    Breaks very easily

I've been through three cables in about 6 months. My 30 pin lasted for years. The cable needs to be built more sturdily. I also work at Sams club. Our display cables make it a week too before they are broken from all of the wear. These were introduced to be more sturdy, not less.
