    Designed to fail

As is clear from other reviews, as well as my own personal experience, this cable will break within a few months. Apple have clearly designed it this way so they can make more money out of their customers on top of their already overpriced products by using cheaply made cables which they are selling at a high price. Then to add insult to injury, they add a chip so you can't use third party cables - no other company has such poor ethics. Yes, there may be hacks to prolong the life of the cable, but that should be down to apple, not the end user.

    Cord Easily Tears

I had a similar problem with the old iPhone and iPad chargers, but that was nothing compared to the USB to Lightning cord. I have owned the iPhone 5 for nearly a year and have taken great care of the cord. Nonetheless, the cord bunched up at the end and is now torn. I refuse to pay $20 for a cord that I know will break in a few months. I'll simply take my business elsewhere.

    iPhone 5 chargers

I've had the iPhone 5 for about 4 months maybe not quite sure and I've gone through 9 phone chargers. After the first one broke I was very careful with the others. Never used my phone when it was on charge always pulled the charger out carefully yet they still seemed to break. Fair to say that these chargers are f****** terrible and they should make some new ones. Ones that are actually good! This is ridiculous and a waste of money. Not a happy customer.

    Cable quality - poor

Both my kids have the iPod Touch 5 bought last Christmas. I replaced the first cable on my son's iPod after just 8 months. This second cable lasted just one month. My Daughter's cable is now breaking so that it takes several attempts to get a working connection to her iPod and she treats all her things very gently. The cables are all breaking in one spot adjacent to the lightning connector. They have an obvious weak spot in that location. At $25 these cables are just not acceptable.

Considering these cables get used at least once a day they of very poor quality. I believe the lightning connector fits very tightly to the iPod causing stress on the cable when it is removed.

I will be taking both back for replacement or refund.

    TERRIBLE!

I've had 5th generation devices for the the last year and I've had to buy 5 of these chargers over that time. After getting one it is just a matter of time before it is "not supported by the device." The only thing I've found to work is the 30 pin to lighting adapter which has been working longer than all the rest. I hope apple comes out with a charger that actually works. Thank you

    Horrible

I've had my iPhone 5 for barely a year and I've been through 3 chargers. There was no reason for them to stop working: no rips, tears, or other signs of breakage. This is ridiculous. My sister has had an iPhone 4 charger for years without any problems. Nice going, Apple.

    Shocking!!

Cable is amazing when it's working, but goes faulty fast than it charges a phone.
The surrounding rubber of the cable soon starts creasing and folding over itself then starts tearing and exposing the wires beneath. Soon after that it stops charging!

SORT THIS CABLE OUT NOW PLS !!!!

Have been through 4 of these cables already on my iPad. Now shopping for the 5th...
The cable frays at the device end until it no longer works.... so you cannot recharge at all...
An expensive product is marred by this low quality rubbish cable which is unfortunately ESSENTIAL to use your iPad.

    Accessory not supported.

I do not understand why the original cable from my 5S is no longer supported after 1 month of use. I don't fold or bend my cable. It has been hanging in my room all this time. I really suggest that apple stops such restrictions as it is causing a lot of inconvenience to customers that may have the same issue as me. If apple want to get something done, it should be rock solid that when using the original cable, such a MSG should not be poping out and stop my phone charge. How am I suppose to charge my phone now? Buy another cable?

    A pen spring?! Really?l

I am a loyal Mac girl from way back, but seriously Apple, when the best solution for the disastrous fragility of the lightning cable is the spring from a ball point pen??? Wow! Some legendary brilliance would really come in handy about now.

    Not worth 1 star

We have 3 devices that use these and have gone through 7 in the last 12 months, all with the same fault, the cable breaks internally just below the lightning connector, they are sub standard and are not worth a couple of £s never mind the ridiculous amount apple are charging for a cable. It's about time apple came up with a better design and gave every one a free cable as compensation.

    Expensive repeat problem

Bought 3 iPads for use in ICT department at high school. So far all 3 cables have failed, not charging being the issue each time. Now the replacement from Trafford centre apple store has physically snapped at the joint where it inserts into the iPad. Another trip to the Manchester, with costs and hassle. Very busy shop, very little by way of an apology beyond platitude.
