    Purchase these cables twice both stopped working after a few weeks

    Worked great then just stopped working after a few weeks. I purchased one for me and one for my sisters family. The one I used stopped working two months in. The one that my sister had stopped working three weeks later. Both saying no signal on the screen when plugged in. Thought maybe it was the hdmi cable or tv input. I tested it on different TVs with different hdmi cables but still came up no signal.

    DO NOT BUY

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
    I used it reliably for several months and now everytime I try to play a movie on a TV I get a message stating "The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies" This initially happened with only select movies but now occurs with all my itunes purchased movies (over 100 Titles).
    Very disappointed!

    Shows Airplay black screen after every commercial break!

    With apple removing all these ports and pushing all these dongles on us they should at least work. This thing has so many bugs I cant believe its an Apple product. Biggest frustration is after every commercial is just shows the the airplay black screen, have to close the app then open it back. SO annoying.

    Works for 10 seconds

    It works for 10 seconds..
    Then the image freezes on screen.
    Sometimes it lasts longer but I can reliably crash it by swapping screens repeatedly.

    When apps control it like YouTube, it seems to be reliable for longer, well at least the audio. The video stops updating after a minute or two but the audio continues.

    Sometimes in other apps where it mirrors (that's why I got it), it causes the apps to experience getting disconnected from the network temporarily. It is really weird.

    Tested on both the iPad mini A1489 and one of the new iPads model A1566

    Do not recommend.

    Stopped Working :(

    Was going to great - only used for my daughter to watch purchased movies and Netflix from the iPad Air 2 through the TV. Was so good for about 6 months, then about 2 weeks ago, started being very fiddly to connect and read. Tried different TVs, HDMI cables, and tried connecting to my iPhone as well. Would eventually get it to work but then couldn't touch the iPad or it would drop out. Then today it stopped completely, saying 'Apple does not support connected device'. It's a genuine Apple product! :(
    Don't want to buy another one, will need to find an alternative way to connect to TV.
    We have 4 Apple products currently in our house (have had about 10 in total over time) between two adults - some loyalty in return would be appreciated!

    Excellent Product!

    I just got my Lightning Digital AV Adapter yesterday. I use high speed HDMI cable with ethernet from ACE Hardware and everything is works fine! Seamless mirroring, responsive performance, and high definition display. I'm very satisfied with this product. Now I hope it's quality last long, since the price is quite expensive in Indonesia.

    Very Bad

    This product displayed clear quality for about a week. After a good week of use out of it the quality became horrible and it works very slow. I like apple but this is a bad product and bad investment.

    hdmi AV adaptor for iPhone

    Video Output Ruined by Black Border

    No matter what you do, or what device you are using (iPad, iPhone, etc) it surrounds the video output with a small black border on ALL sides. Completely ruins all output for any practical use!

    I was going to use this for streaming, but this non-full aspect ratio output ruins that completely. Also, if I wanted to use this to send a signal to my TV, it is a total waste as I can't get the full aspect ratio from that either. It doesn't matter if you are using 16:9 or 4:3, it will put the black border around ANY AND ALL OUTPUT.

    Total waste of money, and terrible product. Funny enough, the VGA version doesn't have this video border problem, but it also doesn't capture audio... so also worthless for streaming and pretty much everything else unless you want to use a separate feed for audio.

    Not as bad as the reviews

    I had issues at first, I could not pick up a signal. I went to the Apple Store and got help. At first they thought it was a bad adapter but upon further review it was was a very dirty connection due to me never cleaning my plug in. They cleaned it up and now I'm generally pleased.

    Wish I'd read the reviews before I bought - does not work !

    Paid £50 for this - yes you've read that correctly. It works for about 19 seconds (sometimes) then black screen. Note sound goes through hdmi only and not audio jack, so forget hooking up to speakers. I'll be demanding my money back as should you if you've bought this !

    Time to Go Cook

    This is the 4th HDMI Digital AV Adapter I have had to purchase, and to which has failed.

    WTF Apple?!??! This is so incredibly frustrating - you claim to be customer focused but your products are quickly becoming the same trash as everyone else's...and frankly if you didn't still have Jobs' OS, you'd be dead in the water!

    Fix your (expletive) APPLE! This type of inferior product being released, and re-released, and re-released is unacceptable.

    Try this helpful hint.

    I kept getting error messages until I did I the following:

    Start playing the video on your iPad, THEN plug in the lightning adapter to the iPad. Works for me every time.

    Mediocre performance from adapter

    Using the ipad pro 12.9, sound does come out from hdmi but it is of an extremely poor quality. Outputed display is of a poor quality and definitely not 1080p while not in video streaming mode. Youtube ocassionally freezes while playing video, audio can still be heard though. Does not fill the whole screen as it follows ipad aspect ratio (4by3) and not monitor (16by9) aspect ratio. However it is excellent for 1080p netflix streaming if you use good bluetooth or 3.5mm speakers/headphones.

    Just bought the adapter about a week ago.

    Quit working!

    Just like the charging cables this stopped working. The charging cables are nightmare by theirselves, but this cable cost even more $49.00. I loved it while it lasted, but I can not afford to keep replacing it. I was the only one that ever plugged and unplugged my phone into it and I was very gentle. No matter how gentle and careful you are, you can expect this digitalAV Adapter to stop working within a few months. Very disappointed with Apple. I will never have anything other than an apple phone, but I feel like apple could find a fix for this and stop selling junk!

    Stopped working....?

    I had to get one of these to display PowerPoints and such (I'm a volunteer instructor) and it stops working! I've only had it about 6 months! I paid $70 out of my own pocket for this thing and one day it just stopped working! the blue bar at the top of my iPad glitches out and won't either display what is on my iPad or sometimes sound. I have tried everything, a different cable, a different apple device and nothing works. I was happy with it but it should have lasted longer than this or have at least a 1 year warranty on them or something because I don't want to have to pay another 60 some dollars to get a new one. I do not have laptop available so I don't have a choice, I will have to get another. Complete money grab if you ask me...

    Works but is pricey

    I received the adapter today and ran it through some tests. The adapter worked great. I used it on my iPhone 6S+ and iPad 3 with zero issues. I tested Netflix, watch espn, YouTube, and of course downloaded iTunes movies via the tv app on both devices. All videos we presented on the tv screen in full 16:9 HD, except watch espn which stayed in the smaller window feed. Although the price is high it will definitely serve its purpose when we are out camping and have limited wifi to watch a movie or sports event. I didn't try the watching tv feeds from the tv app, but will try later.

    I BELIEVE I FOUND ONE POSSIBLE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS DEVICE!!!!!

    Hello All;

    I've been using this adaptor every once in a great while with my iPhone 6S+ and just recently the device was NOT working.

    I have IOS 10.2.1

    I read some of the negative reviews here and was getting a little upset with Apple and their quality of their products.

    But I decided to try this adaptor with my Mom's iPad Air with IOS 10.2.1 installed, and it worked!

    Grabbed my iPhone and tried it right away, and it did NOT work!

    ARAGGGHHHH!

    Then I had a thought, I took off my clear protective cover and got my iPhone naked and plugged it in.......AND IT WORKED!!!!!!

    It seems at least in my case (pardon the pun) the protective case was interfering with the lightening adaptor being fully inserted.

    So give that a try and see if it works for you.......it did for me!
