    Easy, Quick

Have been using for about two months with no issues.

Very easy to set up. AC speeds are very good. Backup works seamlessly and easily. It just works.

The range is not quite as good as some new routers, but it is a solid combination of features and is much easier to set up than the other routers. Using in a 3500 square foot house with good coverage.

The only reason I rated four stars instead of five is because I think we ought to be able to set aside some of the drive space for our own use as a home server so that we do not have to rely on cloud services.

Despite that, I would definitely buy this again.

    The best router I've used

I went through my fair share of WiFi routers. All of them that I've used, from Belkin, Linksys, D-link, etc were all painful to setup and had options I'm sure their makers don't even understand. They also got super slow as time went on, need to be restarted every now and again to keep things running optimally. Yes, they were cheap, probably the only good thing about them.

Enter Time Capsule. I bought this along with my Retina Macbook Pro two years ago now in 2013. It's 2015 and is been well over 2 years, I I thought I would at least share my experience. First, it's so simple to use! The setup was painless, just open Airport Utility on Mac or iPhone and enter the network name and pretty much done! Airport Utility is one simple app as well. Not a lot of options but that's a good thing for me (not that I'm not technologically savvy -- heck I'm a software developer, but I have no patience with hard to use hardware/software).

I also use Time Machine to back it up and encrypt my backup. Two other people in my house also back up to the same time capsule. 2TB is plenty for us. The Time Capsule automatically cleans up older backups and pretty much takes care of everything.

After setup, there is 0 maintenance that I've had to do on it, aside from the fact that there were 1-2 software updates, which again, was painless. I don't even remember ever restarting the Time Capsule outside of power outages. Folks, this is one product that I don't mind saying, It just works ™.

Sure it's about $100-$200 more expensive than the rest of the guys, but you know what? It's worth it, just for the experience alone. You can get a decent AC wifi router for $100 less than this. But they would be more painful to use, harder to maintain, have way lower quality of customer support, and they would need replacing after 1-2 years because somehow they manage to slow down as time goes on.

This is hands down a 5/5 product for me. Couldn't be happier.

    Excellent!

I'm not really one for writing reviews, but I felt like I had to, having read all of the negative reviews below (they nearly put me off buying it).

This bit of kit literally set itself up, one draw back was that I had to take it out of the box and plug it in all by myself (come on apple, surely there's an app for that?). It has made a complete mockery of my old super hub. I get wifi over my entire house now and I actually get 100 mbps over wireless. My super hub barely gave me 60 mbps and the kitchen and bathroom were dead zones. It's worth mentioning that all of my internal walls are brick, no stud walls, which is why my super hub used to struggle. This doesn't bat an eyelid.

My airplay speaker system now works flawlessly, no annoying pauses like before.

The hard drive is a little slow at writing large files (like your first backup) but this is easily remedied by deselecting the larger files that do not really need backing up, such as movies and TV shows.

I've only had it just over a week, so can not comment on the life expectancy, but I can't see there being a problem (based on how it has worked so far).

    So far, thoroughly impressed!

DO NOT BUY IF YOU VALUE YOUR DATA

True Story - This week i did the El Capitan update before checking if my Audio interface would be compatible and unfortunately it wasn't. So the only option, aside from buying a new sound card, was to revert back to Yosemite. This is actually pretty straightforward in principle, but requires restoring from a back up. No problem as i have a time capsule that has backed up several times a day since i bought it 3 months ago. When i needed it the most, the backups could not be found on the time capsule despite being on the phone for about 3 hours with Apple support. I now need a data recovery specialist, at my expense, to recover the data. DO NOT BUY, THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RELIABLE.

    AirPort Time Capsule - 3TB

This is the most FANTASTIC piece of equipment I have ever used. Automatic back-up and a very powerful router. I also use Apple Airport Express's to receive extended WiFi reception in my garden and swimming pool house. My fibre speed is 1Gb, which I can easily receive thirty plus meters from my property. Everyone should own/use an Apple AirPort Time Capsule! Thank you Apple...

    Time Machine

My Time Capsule, the second one, has died. It was unreliable at best, now it is dead. Looking online, Time Capsules are not reliable.

    All-in-one hard to use

I bought this AirPort Time Capsule back in 3 August, and it took me almost 18 hours of tinkering before it finally works. It has good wifi, but it keeps losing my backups every 2 weeks or so even if the backup drive isn't full. And I am always scared that it is overheating (how long will it last in this condition?). The good thing is that now my iOS devices can finally AirPrint using my non-AirPrint HP printer.

So far so good and reliable

I bought mine 5 months ago and so far it has been working very good even I live around 20 metres away from it. Backing up of my 2 Macs through Time Machine is much better and doesn't drop compared to the netgear and D-link.

Time Capsule as back up only

I wish to use my new Time Capsule as a wireless back up device only. Very disappointed in the lack of instructions on how to disable all of the "new wireless network creation" features.

    Very disapointed

Bought the new time capsule when I up graded desk top and lap top. Unit is very disapointing. My mobile devices constantly fall off the wifi and I must re boot to frequently to re establish connectivity. Using the time capsule, the unit also looses the ip of the desk top (hard wired to it) and the lap top pro. You get one back up and then you must reboot the device and modem. Hate it, have re connected my old airport (works like a charm) and will be throwing this time capsule in the bin,

    New AirPort Time Capsule User

Was a bit apprehensive after reading all the negative comments. Still go ahead by faith in Apple and I was not disappointed.
Setup and wireless backup was easy. Wifi signal was good too.
Now lets hope it lasts :)

    Shorter range than previous generation

I bought a new Airport time 2TB capsule to replace my last 2TB time capsule. After installation (thank you apple help) we noticed the retransmitted range was shorter. Don't know why, just an observation, nothing else changed in the house but the router.

    Top of the line!

Went into my local electronics store looking for a new router. I went over to the shelf and picked up a high-end wireless router ($300) Walked over to look at the apple stuff. Started talking to the Apple attended on staff at the store. He informed me that Apple also has a wireless router that is easier to set up And very user-friendly with AC technology ( The latest Wireless Technology) . I certainly did not know this! ( Apple needs to advertise this more) I also was informed for the same manufacturers price of other high-end wireless router! Apple offers a high-end wireless router with a 2 TB hard drive for back ups. I was very interested in this because we own two MacBook Pros with retina display. I purchased the Apple airport time capsule took it home to set it up. The set up was so very easy! From unboxing the airport Time capsule to completion was only 7 minutes! I was totally blown away with the AC Wi-Fi range! I'm getting double the wi-Fi distance that I was used to!! Thank You Apple for simplifying our lives! Keep up the great work!!

    Haven't had a problem yet.

Everything has worked great for me so far and I've had it for about a year. The backups work and the router works.

    Excellent thus far.

I bought an AirPort Extreme which I could not get to work properly, I returned it and had an Apple Store set this up for me and it has so far worked faultlessly.

    Great product

As all Apple products, this one is excellent. It's lightning fast due to the latest 802.11 ac speed. I've got an IPad Air and a MacBook Air both with ac and I can tell the difference. I had a Linksys EA2700 before which was a good product too, but didn't have the range or speed. The 2TB storage is also an excellent feature to back up the 3 Macs we have in the house.

    A must have

What can I say. This device delivers - not surprised - I have recently become an Apple convert.

Left the windows world behind - for good.

Everything Apple designs is done with the user in mind.

This device is no different. Set up was easy and backing up my computer is no longer a thought - it's automatic and flawless.

    Excellent range & speed

I thought about upgrading my VirginMedia advanced wifi hub (100MB+ line) to this, when I finally did, I wish I had done it earlier! The range & speed on this device for my MacBook Retina, MacBook Air, iPads etc is amazing.

    Best money spent

I wanted to have an automated backup system for both my Mac and my brother's Mac. And I also wanted something that will help our internet as we are going to have our internet re-done in my home. I needed something to handle a lot of devices and this will do the trick. I absolutely love Apple and their products. I hear a lot of people say, "Once you go Mac, you never go back," and I absolutely DO NOT want to go back to Microsoft. It would be nice if Microsoft had something like this, oh wait, they probably don't have the power to make one since all their products catch viruses.

    Very good router/backup solution

It is fast, reliable and takes up only a very small small space.

I use an app called Time Machine Backup Scheduler from the Mac App Store to schedule daily backups over WIFI. It backs up my system every single night while I and my computer sleeps without any hassle.

It is very good value and I can connect an external drive to backup the backup disk for double protection. Sweet!

I always worried that if someone breaks into my apartment and steal my laptop they would take my attached backup drive. It is very unlikely that someone would take my router.
