    Lifetime of 1 year

I love my iphone 5 but after having it one year my charging cable has broken. I would expect the cable to last as long as the phone and the amazon cable seems to be much more sturdy.

So Apple decides to have an update of iOs that makes sure you cannot use "Inferior products" (cheaper cables)...yet, spending $25 on this "superior product"...it breaks 4 months later, not even a gradual break. Just straight up decides to not work. So I'm left without a phone until I can buy another junky cable that'll just break on me again....giving Apple more money than they deserve.
Really wishing I did not venture down the Apple path.

    Extremely Poor.

    • Written by Elen A from Cardiff

Whether or not there is a year guarantee, why is the cable breaking so often in the first place?! Personally, i always take out the cable properly and it still breaks. For some, simply taking the product back and forth is a challenge in itself as there isn't a store close by. The price should be lowered and quality of product should improve ASAP.

Okay, so I bought a lightning cable for my iphone 5 2 months ago, and it stopped working yesterday. Today I went to the apple store to buy another lightning cable. Got back home and plugged my iphone 5 in. All fine, until it got to around 80% charger and the lightning cable BROKE ON THE FIRST DAY!!! Are you kiddin me Apple?! This is my 3rd lightning to USB Cable as of 2014! Ridiculous!
Rating this product 0 out of a million - worst accessory, would not recommend.

This is the second charger cord I have gone through for my iPad. The 1st came with the iPad and was broken not because of Apple but because my cat chewed it but the second cord I purchased 4 months ago has frayed and snapped all on it's own. Not impressed with how flimsy they are but don't have another option but to buy another cord

Poor products from such a big company

    • Written by Lucy B from MAIDENHEAD

I have had my iphone 5 for just over a year and my lightning USB cable that came with it has stopped working. I am now left without a phone until I get a new one delivered.

As with previous reviews my cable for my very old ipod and my iphone 4 are still in perfect working order after several years. Not only were we forced to buy new adapters due to the new lightning dock but now they last for a ridiculously short period and are forced to pay out for new ones or go without the phone we have shelled out so much for.

Poor by Apple, I will not be buying any apple products until they stop ripping us off. Other consumers are fast catching up.

MY Cable after 2 or 3 months of use just decided to almost catch fire! if i hadn't been watching then could of been bad! Plugged in my cable and left it for a minute or two and when i was on my iPod the cable had a small flash of orange inside it and a small hole appeared and smoke came out and the cable got really warm so i unplugged it and binned it ! there a big risk so watch them!

    Broke after 30days

    • Written by Connor P from Winsford

I purchased my cable on the 29th January 2014 after my previous cable breaking! My brand new cable has on lasted 30 days and doesn't work anymore?! How can you as a company think it's is right for a customer to purchases an item that cost over £20 with delivery to buy a total of 12 cables a year if they are only going to last 30 days at a time! Terrible quality of product and I will be taking my matter further!

    Bad Quality: Do Not Recommend!

    • Written by Tabitha P

I have bought many of these, as I have just bought a new iPhone and thought it safer to buy a real one than a fake charger off Amazon. However, within a month or so (sometimes less), the cable stops working and the my phone doesn't recognize it. If I'm honest, you're better off getting a charger from o2/a phone shop, as they charge a considerably smaller amount for this than the Apple shop does. I'm really angry at this, as they charge a huge amount for the phone, not to mention the charger and it turns out that it's incredibly bad quality! They need to sort this out, as I've read plenty of reviews on this, and most of them say the same thing. Apple, SORT THIS OUT!

    Shocking Quality

    • Written by Christopher S from Fareham

Since purchasing my iPhone 5, the charger cable that came with it quickly deteriorated and fell apart. I since bought another genuine charger cable and the same thing happened.

Guess what I'm using now to charge my iPhone? My old 2nd generation iPod charger cable with the £25, 30 pin to lightning adapter. It seems build materials were much more durable back then as I've had this cable for over 10 years and shows no signs of damage!!!!!!

What does this mean? Apple have gradually cut down on the costs of quality materials and seem to be taking shortcuts. It seems quality now is secondary to profit.

If this is the direction Apply are to proceed in, I think I shall be looking towards Samsung in future. Apple, you should be ashamed!!!

We are a family of 6 who all have apple products including iPhones and iPads. These cables are completely useless and stop working after a very short while. They are not cheap to replace either!! I have replaced them 3 times in a year for my children..... Soon I'll have spent enough to buy another pad!
    What is going on Apple??
Unfortunately no other cable works so you are all scrupled and like me have to keep on buying new ones. :-(

Hello, i live in Malaysia. so the price of a lightning to USB Cable is RM79.00 which is very very very expensive! and to make it even worst the quality is very bad. it breaks easily. i don't have to say a lot because hundreds of people already said the same thing! So when will Apple make a better quality USB Cable?????
this is really wasting my money. I and a lot of other people are really angry about this. so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO SOMETHING, FAST!

    • Written by Nathalie R from Sydney

I've been using them very gently and keeping my phone straight when charging but it always stops working after a month.
I am sick of paying 39.00$ everytime a cable stops working due to low quality.
    Very disappointing coming from apple.

I hate these chargers with a passion. I've had 8 chargers since Christmas and i'm now going on to my 9th, they're very badly designed and break with the slightest misuse. But what makes it worse is the fact the iphone 5's don't accept cheap chargers from places like Ebay or Amazon so you end up spending a lot of money on a charger that is going to last a couple weeks.

    Not Impressed

    • Written by Mandy T from Blacks Beach

I honestly wish I could rate this 0 stars. My cable has lasted only 3 months with only standard use. Extremely unsatisfactory & I sincerely hope Apple is reading these reviews & doing something to resolve the problem, because this is the first issue I have ever had with any of my Apple products.

My original cable is not working just after one year, though I used it with much care and there is no visible indication of why it is not working. Bought another with that surprising price of 25 dollars.. lets see how that goes.

To me, this cord is simply beneath the name of Apple. I am very disappointed.
