    Works Great

I've used the Multiport Adapter to connect my 12 inch 2015 MacBook to my 4K Dell 27 inch monitor and it works flawlessly.

Poor USB 2.0 speeds - but "OK" in some ways

Well, this is OK for HDMI and recharging, but very disappointing file transfer speed. It took >20 minutes to transfer 4.6 Gb to a USB Flash Drive - the same transfer took about 4.5 minutes on a very old Windows PC.... I think it should be working as USB 3.1 speed and have reasonable USB 2.0 speed.... Unfortunately as an essential item, it's just not up to it.

    Its flickering - don't buy!

This adapter is making the monitor flicker. If you move the MacBook or the cable my a millimetre the connection fails. Plus the ports are too close to run two devices at the same time.

Works well with everything but a Wacom Tablet

I use this adapter all the time, and it always works really well. the only issue it that i use it to connect a wacom tablet to my 12" inch macbook, and there is a lag on the tablet, which wacom support says is because of the adapter. i suppose thats not an issue with the adapter itself, but its really frustrating. otherwise, i love this adapter, and i highly suggest getting it!

Monitor blank on & off, Failed to finish the new update

New Macbook and new adaptor this September. The adaptor is no stable. It blinks on and off over time. I know there is an update about this, BUT I can not even finish the update. I tried different HDMI lines, monitors. It still happened. Maybe the type-C is not mature enough.

    Excellent buy Pricey

The only USB-C adaptor that works flawlessly on the Retina MacBook 2016. HDMI, USB-A and USB-C work with power through (charging while using). It is pricey but worth the money. Other solutions didn't work at all their capabilities (no charging while outputting through HDMI for instance)

    Frustrating to say the least

I’ve probably purchased >$100K in Apple products in my lifetime and this is by far the worst. HDMI connections have bad problems with flickering. Can crash the laptop when waking from sleep. I waste valuable time trying to get this device to behave with very standard HDMI connections. I’ve tried three different adapters and they all have the same bad behavior.

    doesn't work

the usb-c on the adapter only works as power supply, not an actual USB port.

    Love it & works great!

I use this with my phone to show videos on a TV when on vacation and don't want to bring my MacBook Pro with me. I couldn't believe it was so easy to use...just plug & play! Also works great with my MacBook.

    Useful

Although this product is overpriced, it is very useful. I am able to charge my laptop while plugging it into the HDMI. It is worth it in the end, because it allows access to functions that are not provided without the adapter.

video blanking out on Retina 12" Early 2016 MacBook, even in macOS Sierra

    I have a brand new Early 2016 MacBook, 512GB storage, 8GB RAM, driving a 4K display.
Video keeps blanking out, sometimes every couple of seconds, other times once every several minutes to tens of minutes.
Rebooting doesn't always help. I did the firmware upgrade and all. I started with El Capitan and just upgraded to macOS Sierra.
I tried with or without a powered HSB hub with or without hard disks.
Nothing seems to make a difference. It is hard to reproduce the problem.

I had no problem driving the monitor in 4K resolution from a MacBook Pro using the same HDMI cable. So I think the HDMI cable I used is certainly capable of driving 4K, but the adapter itself may be pickier about the cable.

After reading other reviews, I went out and bought an HDMI 2.0 cable. Well, it would not even properly detect the display! it seemed worse than using the default HDMI cable that came with my 4K monitor.

I am not sure what to do. I can't find my receipt, and it's just a few days old.

    Works Like A Charm

I have an LG 34" Ultrawide Display. The USB-C Adaptor is easy to use and connects my Macbook to the LG display just fine. The resolution is terrific At the highest range. It's a snap to setup. The USB-C also accommodates charging and an external USB mouse (which I prefer to the Apple Mice).

I do think it all looks a bit messy with all the cables in plain site jutting from the left-side. A longer connector and likely from a third-party vendor will hopefully solve that small issue.

I am aware of others comments about intermittent HDMI signals and some hissing. I've not experienced any of that. If I do I'll circle-back and update accordingly.

    Expensive Piece of Junk

If you'd like to spend 80 bucks on an accessory that will cause your external monitor to blink on and off all day long... look no further!!! This is the accessory you've been dreaming of.

I've tried different monitors. I've tried different HDMI cables. Nothing seems to help. This thing is incredibly frustrating to use.

If you do decide to call support, expect to be on the phone for an hour only to be told "try plugging it into another port" on your single port usb-c macbook...

Intermittent Video With AND without this adapter

I am having the problem with intermittent video when I use this adapter, but also when using and LG LG 27UD88 W USB-C Monitor. First the charging cable that comes with your Macbook Retna does not carry the video signal. I found this out when trying to plug my Macbook Retna into this monitor with the apple cable. I had to use a third party cable to make it work. And while it works, I have the intermittent video issue on the LG with direct USB-C connection or if I use the USB-C Digital AV Multipart Adapter.

This makes me believe it is a problem with the USB-C on the Macbook itself. Not the adapter.

I am going to try upgrading to Sierra later today to see if this fixes the intermittent video issue and will report back later.

    Garbage

For 79.00 I would have expected better. The first adapter broke within thirty days, the second two months later. This is by far the worst Apple product I have purchased to date.

    Worst Apple Product I've Owned

I bought the 12" under the notion I could use the USB C adapter when needed. This adapter is absolute garbage and finally failed altogether today. It would occasionally get super hot (like something's shorting out) if I would leave my phone connected to my computer overnight. I mean computer, phone, adapter all on a hard surface (not covered in bed) and only the adapter is hot. Don't leave anything connected to this piece of junk long. I'm highly disappointed in apple for this product. I have a $1200 computer with no reliable way to connect a USB.

    Flakey

Constant issues with this dongle and can't properly keep a signal via HDMI. Incredibly poor considering the price that Apple charges for this.

    Needs to frequently reconnect

Like others said, the HDMI port connection works intermittently, and sometime the external display just goes crazy and I would need to reconnect to make it work. Let alone it only has one HDMI port so that I cannot use two external monitors like before. Very disappointed.

It has an issue with a work around.

I'm on my 5th Mac, a new 12" MacBook. I've never had a product issue. Until now.

I've been having intermittent HDMI issues like a lot of others. But another review here pointed out that starting the Mac while everything is plugged in, works. I suppose there's some kind of negotiation going on (HDCP?) that needs the entire HDMI path plugged in at boot to work properly. This is a problem. While the HDCP aspects of HDMI were horribly engineered and very poorly implemented by the industry, the HDMI port on my work MacBook Pro never has a problem connecting to a monitor or TV. So Apple has the know how.

There are third party versions for less than half the price. I would recommend doing research before buying Apple's.
