    Only last about a year

I've bought Apple Pencil last year and used it rarely. So I decided to leave it in the pencil box until it's time to start using it again. Just recently, for my business purpose, I took out the Apple Pencil and before I can start using it, it is no longer working. I even charges it twice over night. Took it to Apple Store and turned out the warranty end. Only one year warranty. Either I have to give up the Apple Pencil to them and pay $80 with 3 months warranty or buy a brand new one for $150 with one year warranty. Apple have a strong reputation of having high quality products that would last longer than Microsoft products. With this recently experiences, now I have to think twice and start looking into surface pro.

Before the Pencil broke down on me, I hate when the cap of the Pencil is easy to get lost. If charging Pencil attached to iPad, there is a risk that you could accident hit the Pencil and break the lighting input.

Other than that, it is hard to see anything positive on it.

Issue with tip getting loose but otherwise a great tool

I have had my Apple Pencil and iPad Pro 12" for about two weeks now, and I love both. Recently the pencil would stop working with the iPad despite pairing and charging. I solved my problem when I noticed that the tip had become loose; uncrewing it and screwing it back on restored full functionality of the pencil.

    Incredible technology

I have used the Apple Pencil almost daily since November 2015 for an average of 5 -6 hours with the 12.9 inch iPad Pro and apps from adobe sketch, paper 53 and Procreate. I have replaced the tip three times (once due to dropping the pencil on concrete). I have never had to recharge during the day so my pencil has maintained its charged for 5-6 hours each time. Not sure what is up with those who have experienced problems with battery life or tip life but I have had a great experience with both. The technology in the pencil is almost magic to this old man -- love it. I did add a grip to make it a little more comfortable -- used a grip from a mechanical pencil -- fit perfectly. I also put a coat on the pencil with a stick-on kit that makes it look like an old fashioned pencil and added a pencil cozy to prevent loss of the charging end cap. Could not be happier.

    slippery, ipad pencil

It's typical Apple:sleek, over designed (way past utility), slippery, easy to drop, easy to break, no charge level indicator (Apple wants to see if you can x-ray the battery with your eyes), no attachment mechanism to ipad (I use duct tape), perfectly cylindrical,so very easy to roll off the table with nothing built in to stop the roll, very awkward pairing situation, doesn't really charge from the ipad, very short battery life, almost to short to actually used a charged pen, again, no charge level indicator, and way too long to be used comfortably. I'm sure Jonathan Ives thought it looked great on the drawing board, but too bad he didn't do extensive field testing with it. Note; bought Windows Surface, am much, much happier!! Pen in six-sided, great tactile grip surface, holds a charge forever, feel like a real pen, and not like a giant, plastic Q-tip. Also, Surface is a real computer-runs full Photoshop, usb ports, feels much more substantial than flimsy (but,oh so sleek and pretty) ipad pro. Have given up on ipad, now use only Surface.

    Fantastic but MASIVLY flawed

I absolutely love my Apple Pencil BUT ITS TOO SHARP I have used my Apple Pencil for literally five minutes and I have an admittedly tiny but to me noticeable scratch on my iPad screen which for a 700 pound tablet designed for a 100 pound add on literally designed for each other you would have thought I possible for the most profitable company on the planet to make it so they don’t damage one another.

    Best purchase!!

Best purchase I've EVER made!!! Absolutely love my Apple Pencil. Makes EVERYTHING so much easier. Thought I would only use it for school notes, but I find myself using the pencil for everything I do on my iPad!! Not to mention how quickly the pencil charges, literally went from 0% to 38% in about 2 minutes. I love this pencil!! I highly recommend!

    Very disappointed

This is the biggest mistake I've ever made buying TWO Apple pencils. First one worked for two days and I thought it was my fault so I bought another one. Same problem, would not pair and just didn't work. A lot of money wasted.

Very good, not sure if it was worth the money for the time.

I loved this thing, I really did. I wouldn't recommend it if you're a realism artist cause you can make the stroked small and defined enough for that kind of art. But if you are a pop artist than it is a must(???) buy. But for 100 dollars I would expect this thing to last years to come, but it sadly only lasted me about... a year?? It's a good chunk a money for such a... small amount of time. I have to buy a new one and I honestly don't have the money. But I make a good living off my art and I would not want to keep spending 100 dollars every years on this thing.

If you own an iPad Pro then the Apple Pencil is a MUST have!

This tool is essential for iPad Pro users. It gives the capability of being able to do so much more with your iPad and unlocks so many more opportunities. This is great for graphic designers, artists, architects, designers and so much more. I use mine to design first look designs for websites and I absolutely love it. It's worth every penny. It works seamlessly with the iPad and the battery life is flawless. Really really impressed with it. 100% recommend to all iPad Pro users.

Who invented this miraculous achievement. The little parts! The fragility!
Invent a pencil with less moving parts as the Great little part vacuum finds them...

    Stopped working

My apple pencil stopped working after a year. For an item that costs $100 there should be some coverage for the pencil other than the year warranty. It is absolutely ridiculous that I would have to purchase another pencil just for it to happen again and not have any way to protect it. I would not buy this product or recommend it to anyone else.

Good for note taking, unexpectedly low life-span.

I have been using an apple pencil for about a year. Mostly for note taking and it works great for many classes which give you slides handout and you can annotate on those and avoid carrying around many books and papers. But sometimes you need to print annotated notes out to use it in open book exams which still result in paper usage. It take lot of time to get used to the apple pencil workflow in my case I haven't use it much for the first 6-8 month and starting to utilize it more in the following 4-5 months.

But the apple pencil start to have problem with connectivity one month after it's out of warranty. I tried to pair it and it came back about 15 minutes later. So I thought it might be a glitch so I wasn't worried much about it and after that the apple pencil become unusable, it doesn't want to connect and if it did it will show that it has 3% battery and charged to full then it disconnected. So, I mostly use it for about 5-6 months with less than 100 hours of continuous use (if you use it in lecture class you mostly listen to the lecturer and don't use the pencil all the time like artist do). And for me this pencil is not really worth the price ($99). In fact, I really doubt myself if I gonna buy things fom apple again due to low-life span of the apple pencil.

TLDR: Pros: good for note taking, good responsive, less books and papers to carry around but still needed in case of open book exams. Cons: slippery, easy to roll, low life-span, charging it can be a trouble if you only have one charger.

    Shaky at best

I just left apple. The battery died after very little usage. The product was out of warranty so Apple offered to sell me one at $80.. I left the pencil on the counter in protest. I will not purchase again... it was cool while is lasted but not reliable...

Apple Pencil cannot hold battery charge

My Apple pencil cannot hold the battery charge. I seldom use the Pencil.
    Getting it repair under warranty.

Any tips to prolong the battery health in the Pencil?

    Love it!

This Apple Pencil makes my note-taking for university less painful. It's really fun actually! Especially if combined with a good note-taking app.

Am I using a real pen or pencil?

Wow and wow. What a magical product. Purchased with the new iPad Pro 10.5 and when I started using the pencil on the Paper app, it just felt like I was using a traditional pencil. Very accurate and behaves naturally. Very light and charges fast. If you don't want to plug it to your iPad to charge, the Apple Pencil comes with an adapter to connect it straight to the lightning to USB charger.

    Highly recommended

    Not worth it!

It worked great! Twice. After that, fully charged or not, it did not work at all. I literally ended up throwing it in the trash. It really hurt to throw $100 away.
