Works great with the smart cover

This case, along with the smart cover is really nice, and fits my iPad Mini 4 really good. And it feels good in my hands. It's an Apple product, made for an Apple device, so it's nice and slim. I miss the one-piece silicone case and cover that my old iPad had, which worked better, in my opinion, or else I would have given this 5 stars.

Don't even think of buying this "case"

Let me start off by saying that this isn't a "case" its more of a back cover with a cutout for the Smart Cover on the left side (which is 39$ extra by the way)

Anyways, this is what's awful about it; after about 4 days of owning it, I noticed that the edges closest to the cutout for the smart cover were tearing up. I was ok with that since it didn't really affect the protection the case offers. However, a week later, the edge where the headphone jack is located completely separated, the little piece of silicone that goes over the headphone cutout had completely ripped and I was left with a corner that would snap onto the iPad. A week after that the OTHER edge near the Smart Cover cutout ripped off, even though it wasn't a "weak" part of the case.

The material of the case is simply awful. for 2-3 days it felt like silk, I really liked it, but after about 5 days it started to stick and wasn't easy to, lets say, slide off a table. it truly felt awful

This is sad considering the previous leather iPad mini cases offered a full, 360 degree protection of the device (without having to pay extra for the cover)
The previous cases also had a much more premium feel to them, whilst this felt as cheap as a $1 case. Not acceptable for something that costs 59$

I advice against this case as its just terrible.
Get one from another brand which will be cheaper and include full protection.

And apple I hope you are reading this.

    Dust Magnet

I wish I did not buy this one as it apparently is useful for collecting dust there are covers out there that are dust-proof and I guess Apple can make it too.

    Would be perfect if only....

This case would be perfect if it wasn't $59. This price is ridiculous.

Aside from the price, it is a great case WHEN combined with the Smart Cover. I would not recommend this at all if you are not getting the Smart Cover as well.

I miss the leather smart cases apple use to sell. Would prefer that over this.

Love the Mini 4 and this case is fab

I recently bought the Mini 4 and this case plus Smart Cover to go with it. Great! Feels really nice in the hand and looks really good. Being wipe-clean is an added bonus, so a quick wipe over every couple of days will keep the surface hygienic and looking professional. Highly recommended!

    Perfect

Purchased midnight blue case and Smart Cover. They pair perfectly to protect from scratching the iPad. A bit priciy but it's guaranteed to perfectly fit the iPad mini 4. There are lots of 3rd party cases but they are typically not well made and not as perfect. If you have the cash invest in this case.

    Slippery on the left side

Do not buy this cover if you do not intend to buy the Smart Cover that goes with it. There is a cutout on the left side of the case and it is very awkward to hold on that side as there is nothing to grip and the metal of the iPad is slippery and causes your hand to slide while holding it.it also leaves the left side unprotected.

It is frustrating that they made the back and the front two separate pieces and if you do not buy both it is a very awkward case and does not fully protect the left side.

It is however a well made case.

Terrible design - just looking to make easy money

Don't get me wrong, I really look forward to every Apple product. I have lots of Apple devices and accessories, and have kept up-to-date with almost every new version of phones, laptops, and accessories. The silicone covers have always been way overpriced for the product, but I always did like the one unit cover case for the IPad and Mini. The current iPad mini silicone case has really missed the mark. When looking to purchase and on the website, you can see that one side of the case is cut out so that the cover can attach, that's OK, but why would you not go with the complete case that you have offered in the past.

Here is the real problem - the first time I need to charge my iPad I noticed that there was no hole in the bottom of the case like in the past to connect the plug. So every time I need to charge the device I'm going to have to take it out of the case and have it sitting without the case while it charges with the case put to the side. The next serious flaw is that there are no holes for the speakers I could not figure out why I could barely hear the iPad until I felt the silicone case pulsating with muffled sound, at approximately half the volume, because it was covering up the speakers on the back. Apple wake up you can't be the industry leader when you're promoting cheap, poorly designed Chinese rubber products. Not a major expenditure but will take it back tomorrow and wait for a quality product to come out. I have been very happy with the tech 21 case for my iPhone and I think you're going to do one for the IPad Mini at some point. I will be happy with that purchase.

    Pricey, but worth it!

I hesitated to spend so much for a silicone back cover, but now I'm glad I did. It fits the iPad mini 4 perfectly, and it feels nice to the touch. I bought the combination of an orange Smart Cover and the stone back cover, a stunning color combo (and the inside of the orange Smart cover is a very rich color, too)! All of the back covers I have ever used with iPad (not made by Apple) ended up cracked or broken around the corners...that will not happen to this one--it should be the only back cover I will ever need for my mini 4. This back case also gives the iPad mini a very neat, clean appearance when it is closed.

The one improvement that could be made is to adjust the design so that the magnetic edge of the Smart cover bumps more firmly up against the silicone back cover, or better yet, so that the little nubs on the magnetic edge of the Smart cover are anchored underneath the back cover. Since they aren't, the Smart cover can slide around a bit.

Very uncomfortable to hold due to cutout for smart cover

    Very disappointed in the design.

The cut out for the Smart Cover is where your thumbs rest when you hold it with the home button to the right. I tried turning it upside down but I am just too used to the home button on the right with my iPhones and full size iPad.

This is my third iPad ( 1,2) mini and the first time I have had a problem with them feeling uncomfortable to hold.

I have ordered 2 new silicone cases from other vendors to try out but they will not ship till next month.

It is too bad as otherwise I love the iPad mini 4.

    Great case, but pricey

Nice slim case for the back of the iPad mini 4. Feels just like the silicone cases available for the iPhone 6. Added benefit is an extra magnet that holds on to the middle flap of the Smart Cover ensuring it doesn't flop when folded to the back then open.
