    Underwhelming sound and battery life

    • Written by Sam W from LA

My first and very likely my last Beats purchase. The sound is terrible and the battery life is nowhere near 12 hours as claimed by Apple. I am pretty sure my earphones are genuine as I got them a very large Apple re-seller. Very disappointing.

    Trying to Run

    • Written by Chelsea M from Victoria

I bought these when I saw them in a vending machine aboard BC ferries on my way to Vancouver/Victoria. I wanted to have a good pair for running - resistant to sweat, wireless, wouldn't fall off my ears. At first I used these mostly for walking around or travel, decent sound. But as soon as I pushed myself with running - I finally started to be able to run more than 10 minutes straight!! :( - these earphones start breaking down. I thought they were waterproof/resistant but it must be the sweat. Whatever I'm listening to, the volume will adjust on it's own either getting painfully loud or so low I can't hear. I've watched my phone screen as the dial for volume goes up and down without me touching it. If I try to adjust it back by the earphone buttons, it's response time is either very long or doesn't respond at all. When I go to turn the earphones off and hold the button on the left earphone down, it refuses. They only seem to work if I keep them super dry which is super unfortunate - hopefully just a fluke with mine. Goes completely against the point of purchase. I imagine I could have spent much less if all I wanted them for was travel. Bummer :(

Loved them until they fell apart

    • Written by Amelia S from Wellington

I loved my Powerbeats3.... until they completed fell apart. The ear piece separated from the speaker part & the wires popped out of the ear pieces. Pretty disappointed in the longevity of these. I had them only a year :(.

    Not a Great Fit

    • Written by Gregory G from East Granby

I bought these to replace corded earphones that I bought in an airport for $10. I will say I like the $10 ones better. The around the ear hook prevents them from going to my ear. If I hold them against my ear, they sound great! I am hoping that they adjust over time, otherwise I will try Bose or even a no namer on Amazon. I am very turned of Beats.

I just purchased the powerbeats3 wireless. The sound quality is a not too bad but could be a lot better. There is zero bass!!! That broke my heart so bad!! That was the reason for the purchase! I can’t find the receipt now I’m out of $199.99 I’m very unhappy with this product and ai warn other people about purchasing this product. Do not waste your money!!

    Earpiece gets loose

    Dying product for financial gain.

    • Written by Matthew D from Fargo

Unfortunately my Powerbeats3 earphones refuse to turn on and connect to bluetooth devices after approximately 18 months of moderate use. I had the exact same issue with the original Powerbeats along the same timeline. Why would apple sell a product that lasts causing them to generate less revenue? The left hand knows what the right hand is doing.

    Disappointed and surprised tbh

I really liked these headphones! Emphasis on the past tense... got them as a Xmas gift so only had them for about 6 months and they’ve already crapped out on me! Won’t turn on, won’t take a charge, nothing. Honestly the sound quality was never that great, especially for beats, but I did like how they fit and stayed on so well, especially since I’m someone who HATES ear buds you gotta really jamb in there. Safe to I wish I’d read all these fellow scathing reviews before spending so much money on them... don’t know if They’re poorly made or not nearly as resistant to sweat as they claim but I’m so upset

    Breaks all the time

    • Written by Demi V from Fishers

I like Powerbeats for high intensity workouts over every other headphone but they are they most unreliable device. My headphones break all the time from technological issues. You’d think they’d get the third version right but NOPE still same old stupid technical issues.

    WASTE OF MONEY.

    • Written by Luz G from Miami Beach

Suddenly my Powerbeats 3 stopped connecting. I tried unpairing them from my iPhone and then trying to re pair them again, but now they won't show as discoverable. I used them the day before without issue.
I cannot believe such a "good quality" product goes to waste with such a short period of use.

    Disappointing

    • Written by Eric F from Loudon

I bought these back in February 2018. Worked great until November. They totally quit pairing with any device and would only blink a white light. I tried everything I read, but they would not work. Apple agreed to send me a replacement pair and those came to me in late November. A few months later in April 2019, I'm having the exact same issue. Will not pair and only blinks a white light. I called again and was told that they were no longer covered as the warranty only applied to the original set I bout back in February 2018. I was advised that replacement headphones only had a 90 day warranty, so after that you're on your own.90 days is not a sufficient period of time to determine if a product will fail or not. My original pair failed in 9 months. I take very good care of my headphones, and keep them in their case when they are not in use. I bought these headphones due to Beats having a solid reputation for being well-made and durable. While the sound quality is great (when they work), I find that they do not last long at all, and seem to have identical, recurring issues. I was told that I would just have to buy a new pair. I use this product in the gym, as they are designed for. Even though the box for the product has a sweaty LeBron James wearing a pair (which he says he uses for his workouts), and also says they are "sweat and water resistant", the product seems exceedingly fragile. I cannot recommend this product. I will no longer be purchasing Beats products in the future.

    Not worth it

    • Written by Irshaad G from Chicago

Issues started suddenly about a week ago. During a run, a loud screeching sound came thru the earpiece and the headphones disconnected from BT. From other reviews I've read here, I believe sweat got into the housing (note that these are supposed to be sweat resistant workout gear). I reconnected them and they seemed to work, but a couple of issues appeared since then: the playback / volume buttons stopped working, the battery was unable to reach full charge, battery life kept diminishing during use, and eventually it died and wouldn't start back up. All within the span of a few days.

They lasted just shy of 2 years (with usage about 3-4 times a week for about an hour each time). The cost to service/repair them is more expensive than buying a new set. The cherry on top was that the Apple rep hung up on me when I expressed my frustration with the repair cost and told her they couldn't honestly expect me to buy a new set of these. Unprofessional.

On a side note, I had frequent issues with these headphones falling out of my ears during runs, but that'll vary person to person of course.

    Bad Quality

    • Written by Robyn J

Loved my Powerbeats3 until a little after a year the earpiece actually split in half. Looks like they are just glued together and maybe the adhesive wore off. Since the warranty is no more it’s going to cost $107 to repair. I feel like these should have lasted a little longer so I’ll be going with another brand.

when it work & warranty issues

    • Written by David M

These work great when they work. Since I purchased about 2 years ago they have been replaced twice. At a random time they would not turn on or charge so replaced. Now the wires that connect the ear piece are frayed and wiring is exposed. Chatted with Apple help. Replacements aren't covered under warranty so $99+ to fix. No thanks. Disappointing overall.

    Poor build quality.

    • Written by Stanley G

So I have had these for 14 months and the ear piece loop broke right out of the ear bud piece. Normal commenting use, no athletics. So after this short amount of time I have to pay another $99 for repair after paying $199 last year!? Nope. They don’t stay in the ears well, no matter which size bud cushion is used. Sound quality is good. My first and last Beats product. Not worth the price.

They kinda suck, within 5 months the wire for the war piece broke though the rubber on left ear piece, 2 months later the piece that wraps around your ear completely fell off. I don’t use them often either. Structure quality is poor, sound is good though

Not Sustainable...Broken Twice in A Year

    • Written by Jenna M

When my Beat headphones are working, I love them. However that isn't the case. The first issue I had was a few months in where they stopped taking a charge. I received my second pair a few months ago and now these take a charge but the battery life went from days to <8 minutes. Do not recommend.

Great base, but only buy with an extended warranty as break via sweat

    • Written by Philip B from clovelly

3 pairs down now. Thinking of another pair as they have great bass, fit my ears well, the linking wire makes safe for cycling (vs individual buds).
BUT they die from the sweat. I use cycling every day, latest pair lasted a year and 3 days. Thankfully i paid for an extended 'replacement' warranty at JB Hifi so got the money back. Will probably buy another pair....but with the same extended warranty!
Also if they break under 1 year is a repair warranty from Apple which is more hassle

    Don’t buy this product

    • Written by Anthony I

The quality of the beats is phenomenal of course. But within the first week of me buying them they’re already shot. I cant pause or change songs on the mic anymore. So for 200 dollars this should not happen during the 1st week. All around of course the quality is good but for 200 dollars they shouldn’t already break. I advice searching the market for a better product possibly Bose.

    Not up to Apple Quality

    • Written by Tim S

The fact is that these earphones are not up to the expected standard for $200. Also not what you expect from a Brand owned by Apple. Worked fine for 12 months then started to fall apart as well as charging and connection problems. Will look elsewhere for replacement product.
