    Useless when Charging

I finally convert to a Mac and if it wasn't for the mouse, I would probably say I would never go to a different computer. But this thing is completely unusable when it is charging and as a student and running a nonprofit, this does not work for me. Very disappointed.

    Just awful

Buy something else. These take on average 20-30 minutes to connect to your laptop. I didn't have the battery issues other users have reported, mostly because I gave up trying to connect the mouse and just used my trackpad. In the end I threw it out and bought a Logitech for $20 at Staples. Very disappointing.

    cant use while charging.

poor design choice. and my last mouse wore out after use, the wear pads on the bottom became too short to allow mouse to move without scratching over surfaces.

    Tricky with Excel

The most amazing mouse ever if you're just browsing email or the web, but things get tricky if you're doing anything that requires precision (e.g. Excel). The problem is that the entire surface of the mouse is a scroll wheel, so if you're using your index finger to click on the left side any slight inadvertent touch with another finger on the right side can engage the scrolling process. The screen becomes a moving target. It gets frustrating!

Not only does this mouse not work (VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE APPLE STORE!) but you can't plug in the USB into the mouse because the cable goes on the bottom of the mouse!!

    Who thought of that design?

    Magic Mouse Big Mistake

I bought this Mouse a few months ago. Worst idea ever. I was excited about not having to use AA batteries and putting them in the Magic Mouse 1.
I am so disappointed. It doesn't track right. The cursor sometimes is not visible. Where you have to recharge is so inconvenient. This was 80 bucks down the drain.
I wanted a Mouse that works. I am back using the AA battery mouse.

    A very solid mouse.

Solid Feel on the different desk surfaces I use. Great connectivity reliability. Love the fingertip touch surface for scrolling. The charging via the lightning connect is a wonderful change of pace from replacing AA batteries of mice of older systems.

    Can't use it whilst charging...

It really doesn't matter how good at everything else this mouse is, when it is designed so that when the battery dies you have to turn it upside to charge it. This renders it useless.

Granted, the charge time is short; 15 minutes will get you fully charged, pretty much, and it will last for a month or so, maybe longer. BUT, when you're in the middle of work and it dies, forcing you to wait 15 minutes for it to charge, it really is the most irritating thing in the world.

Charge it at night, people will say, that's fine in principle but you won't remember to do so. It's only a short time to charge and lasts forever others will tell you, if it lasted forever, I wouldn't be writing this (waiting for my mouse to charge, by the way), and yes, relatively it is a short time but it feels like an eternity when you were mid flow in work, now forced to take a break you didn't need or want.

...must dash, the mouse is now charged and I can get on with my life.

    It's quite sad really.

    It worked for a while.
    Expensive isn't a bad thing.
    This however is overpriced.
Extremely poor quality. I now have a 5$ mouse that works better. This is honestly sad.

I always loved apple mouses. The mighty mouse was in my opinion, the best.
Can't find a new one that is wireless and this thing is just bad.
It looks great and feel great, great user experience but who the heck thought it was a good idea to put the charging port on the bottom.

This as to be the, single handedly, the less thought through design feature I have ever seen in my entire life.
And trust me, as a designer, I had the opportunity to see plenty of bad designs.
It looks like the designer couldn't be bothered to lift his pencil up from his desk.

Saying I'm disappointed by this product would be an understatement.

    Best mouse!

So before I purchased this I read all the reviews. I noticed people were complaining about the battery charging port being on the bottom and decided to buy it anyways. I just want to make sure everyone knows; yes it is on the bottom! However, I use mine 8 to 9 hours a day and have had it on one charge for over a month and a half now. So the charging port may be inconvenient but you honestly don't need to use it that often. Also, this mouse is great if you're used to switching from laptop to actual computer! It allows me to use most of the same gestures that the trackpad does and I like that for convenience. Overall this is probably the best mouse I have ever used (so far) and I would recommend it to anyone! One more important thing, I had issues connecting the bluetooth and scrolling at first. Shortly after I realized that it only works with OS X El Capitan so make sure you upgrade before buying!

    Best Mouse Ive Owned

This mouse is so lightweight and glides across the surface effortlessly. Pairing was easy and quick. I recommend this mouse to any mac owner. I personally prefer the mouse over the trackpad on my macbook pro.

    Love it so far

Battery life? Been using it for several weeks and it never got below 95% charged. I just recharge it as a precaution. Even left it on for a few days when not using it. I wonder how long I could go with out it.

    Love the scroll.

    Love the feel.

Like the idea of being able to change the functions.

    good in theory but...

I've had so much trouble with mine. It loses connection randomly and takes a good 5 min to reconnect. It uses up batteries so fast that no rechargeable ones can keep up. It gets dirt on the bottom from who knows where, and then doesn't glide. I just don't like it.

    Poor Design

I cannot tell you how ecstatic I was to rid myself of batteries for my mouse. I was glad apple had finally produced, a mouse that was rechargeable. Until, I installed the device. I cannot fathom why anybody would think placing the port on the bottom of the mouse was a great idea. You would think, the port would have been on the tip top of the mouse but it wasn't. This is the first apple product I have returned for a refund. I really hope Apple corrects this poor design. Until then, I will continue to change out my batteries.

    Very pleased..

Firstly I don't know why others are mourning about the charging port being under the mouse as its not a big deal.
Here are my reasons of why -ve comments are no brainer after using it for few weeks now:
    - I have it for almost 3 weeks now (using almost every day during office hours) and the charge has gone down to 75% since full charge. So pretty amazing.
    - The charging is very fast, even there was a scenario where one forgets to charge (in 6-8 weeks time) then probably would need 5mins to get it operational for few more days if not week(s).
    - How on earth is someone going to use a mouse while having a cable attached for charging? This is idiotic!
    - Good charging port is not visible so it leaves the pretty looks intact.

So my suggestion ignore the -ve comments as I am beginning to believe none of them have even used it.

Overall the mouse is great, good grip, smooth and balanced weight. In addition love the gestures on top surface as they are very handy.
I would rate 5 star and would recommend to anyone.

    Great idea, weak execution.

Can't tell you the number of times I've come in to work on Monday to a DEAD magic mouse. It wasn't turned on all weekend. I turn it off whenever I leave my desk for more than an hour (having been trained to conserve AA batteries with the last version). Can't use it while charging. Hm. Not very helpful. They couldn't have put charging ports on the side so you CAN use it while charging? I love the action of the mouse—no complaints there—but the charging issue—and the length of time the mouse holds a charge leaves much to be desired.

Great mouse - what is everyone talking about!?!

I was shocked to see all the negative reviews on here. This is a great mouse - well worth the money. It works on every surface; it easily synced with my MacBook Pro; the scrolling function without a trackball is awesome; and it lasts a long time without charging. Yes, the charging slot is on the bottom of the mouse, so you cannot use it while it is charging, but there is not a single mouse on the market that can be charged while in use!
I wish it was a little cheaper, as I wish every MAC product was cheaper, but like all apple products, it lasts and thus is worth the investment.

    mouse returned

After using the magic mouse2 for a week, I ended up returning it and upgraded to Track Pad 2. Problem with the mouse was that it would lose bluetooth connection for a second or so, or it wasn't fluid as there was minor stuttering. I have the iMac 27 inch screen, and the mouse created more work for my hand/risk to go from one end to the other end of the screen. Lastly, I didn't like where the charging port was located at. These may not be big issues for you, but I like to work fluidly as much as possible.
