    Terrible quality

    • Written by Christopher L from Burntwood

This is one of the most innovative of all of the Apple Watch bands. The closing mechanism with the magnets is terrific and it feels quite nice on the wrist.

As every other reviewer has noted, though, the quality is terrible. Within six months the edges of the leather veneer were coming away from the metal links. Within a year, I had the band replaced for free at an Apple store. The replacement performed slightly better but was suffering from the exact same problem within 12 months,

The edges of each link are now exposed. You can see where the edges start to peel away,

I contacted Apple about this and the friendly representative said that I would have to have the band assessed before I file a consumer rights complaint as the replacement band is more than a year old.

Please don’t buy this product. It’s so expensive and the quality concerns have not gone away.

    On the fence?

    • Written by Grant A from St. Louis

I purchased this band in May 2017 and it broke after wearing for less than six months! I rotated this band with others wearing it on average 4 days per week. I went to put my watch on this morning and the band split right in half. For the price paid I expected the band to last at least a year.

It was very nice when it was new, but it's quality quickly diminished and is definitely not worth the retail price. I love my Apple watch, but will never buy this band again.

    Does not last

The strap looks good but fell apart after 18 months. I would not purchase this band again.

Pretty, but doesn't last - get something tougher

    • Written by GLEN R from Brooklyn

I wore mine for almost two years, by which time it had became completely unusable. With normal wear the leather starts to separate from the metal parts. Mine failed first where the leather band folds in half, then metal bits began to peek out along the edge more generally and finally the leather peeled back on the end that needs to pass through the loop. Now I have a band that is ugly and hard to put on and which can actually *cut my wrist* through normal use. I liked the look and feel when I first bought it - it seemed like clever engineering - but now the choice is either to wrap it in protective tape or throw it out.

Apple really ought to replace products that fail this badly. Or better yet (since a replacement might fail similarly) offer a trade-in discount to substitute a band that works better.

After two years of normal use the band has deteriorated. The leather has peeled away from the metal base. The base has pieces chipping off. I contacted Apple support and they offered to sell me a new one for $164! $15 more than the charge at Apple.com. I'm certainly not going to buy another expensive band.

I bought the black version of this strap expecting the normal Apple quality and I was happy to pay the expensive asking price thinking it would last years but after only a few months the leather began to peal away and it now looks cheap and terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed.

3 months of use review: A beautiful but flawed classic

    • Written by Rodí O from Dublin

This is probably the most over-engineered thing you'll ever own. There are clearly far more economically and practical ways to fasten a strap than having dozens of rare-earth magnets sown into leather. But none as beautiful.

    The bad:

    • At first I felt it was somewhat plastic but I'm not a venetian leather expert. Apple has definitely done something to this leather to make it more suitable for their needs.

    • It creaks - a lot. Not noises but creaking movements you can feel. Initially it does affect your ability to distinguish the creaking from a notification.

    • It's very expensive.

    The good:

    • It's beautiful on your wrist. I have had several compliments from different people.

    • It's very comfortable to wear and doesn't slip or feel insecure.

    • It's seem impervious to dirt or water.

    • You get used to the creaking and 'seems to' lesson over time. I don't notice the creaking much or at all anymore. And I don't have any trouble recognising alert vibrations.

I love it and don't regret my purchase. It's frankly one of the most beautiful straps I've ever seen – it exudes simplicity despite the fact that it's anything but. Yes, it's flawed – but much like the iPod Hi-Fi before it – it's a design classic.

Classy leather strap but not durable at all

    • Written by Piotr L from Ealing

Beautiful looking and feeling strap. Don't expect this to last more than 12 months. The leather veneer soon wears through and then it looks really awful. Very disappointed.

    Comfy but will not last

    • Written by John S from Sarasota

Had it as a daily wear band for a bit over a year. The leather wore out where the band folds over onto itself to fasten. At 50 cents a day its too expensive.

    It's ok

    • Written by Louis P from Pineville

I've owned the blue leather band for about a year. It doesn't look at good because of the wear and tear. It's not vibrant anymore. The main problem I've noticed is that it has lost some of it's magnetism when I don't wear it tightly. I have the 42cm band. When I loosen it almost falls off my wrist because it seems to have lost it's magnetic strength. I need to purchase a new band.

    Absolutely Stunning

    • Written by Bennett R from WOOD RIVER

When I decided to buy the Leather Loop Band for my Apple Watch I didn't know what to expect. When I opened the package I was treated with a hard white plastic box with the Apple Logo ingraved. The band was a little stiff at first but with more usage became more comfortable. The midnight blue color is amazing and looks good at casual and formal events with a wide array of outfits. Some reviews state that the magnets become more weak after time but in the last 5 months I have not experienced that. Although the bad is not a plush as I thought the texture and feel is very nice. This is the best Apple Watch band I have ever bought

I think a lot of people will find it hard to justify the Leather Loop's price tag, but I am here to tell you that you definitely get what you pay for. There are some reviews out there claiming that the leather feels thin or like plastic, however after comparing this band to one of the knock-offs, this band is light years ahead in comfort, style, fit, and finish. The leather has a rich natural smell and texture, the clasps fit extremely precisely into the watch receptacles, and the rare-earth magnets are much stronger and more consistent than what you get in third party bands. Also, it may not sound like a big deal, but the band is very easy to adjust to maintain good comfort throughout the day. I would say this band is more comfortable than the already comfortable sport band, and more stylish too! One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was the band's water resistance. Washing hands is not a problem. The only thing I might change about the band is that the stainless steel hole through which you loop the band could be silver aluminum to match my silver aluminum case, but this is very minor.

    Excellent. Amazing craftsmanship.

    • Written by Anonymous

I wasn't 100% sold on this until I got it in my hands, and ultimately on my wrist. This band is so well crafted I would happily pay twice the cost to own it. The fit and finish is second to none. If you're not sure you want a watch band that's secured by magnets, don't worry; there are several strong magnets keeping this on your wrist and it will not move even through a rigorous workout. You may wonder why the Apple branded band is more expensive, but once you feel it and try it on, you'll know. There's no looking back after this band. What really sold me is how well it fits into the watch itself; other bands (third party makers especially) fit and secure just fine, but end up having a little play, or looseness where the connection is made, this is not the case with this band. Snug as can be and worth every penny.
