    Love the band

Like most individuals, I bought an Milanese Loop off of Amazon, one week later the band started to show the silver underneath the black paint. The band felt cheap and didn’t look good with my Series 3 stainless steel Iwatch. After reading the reviews and wanting a well crafted Milanese Loop, I decided to purchase the Apple 42mm Space Black Milnese Loop. I am extremely happy with the purchase, the band is well crafted and I could feel the difference immediately. The band feels great with a good weight, and feel with the material. I’ve owned the band for three months, the band has not chipped or shown any sign of wear, and I’m use this band at least 2-3 times a week. People have reported the band scratching, the Loop band hasn’t left a mark on my watch, but I do own the stainless steel version. The band does pull my arm hair but only once in a while, and I think it’s normal for the band to pull arm hair. My one quirk with the band is when attaching and unattaching the band I feel that I will eventually rub the coating off the two parts that attach to the watch, and I also feel the attachment piece will eventually scratch the in side of the band mechanism. Overall great watch and worth the 200 asking price.

Badly scratched my watch and my phone

Beware, this watch band scratched the glass on the front (screen) and back (sensor) of the watch with ease. In 24 hours of owning my watch, it got scratched up very badly. My phone also got scratched up. Apparently it's because of the "diamond-like carbon coating" on this watch band, which is harder than the glass. Now I have scratches on some very expensive Apple products (iPhone 7 Plus, and Apple Watch). Absurd. The band does not come with a warning of any sort.

    Disappointed

I have the plain stainless steel Milanese loop that I bought two years ago, and I like it very much. It's the most comfortable band I have, since you can adjust it exactly as you want it.

But since I bought a space gray series 3 watch, I wanted the matching band. I put it off for a while, and finally decided to spring for it (after trying a knock-off band, which was a waste of £15). I was very disappointed. While it looks nice - that space black matches the watch perfectly - it wasn't very comfortable, feeling a bit rough. And on top of that, the bit at the end of the band with the magnet wasn't exactly straight. They different was only about one row of loops, but I couldn't unsee it, and for £200 I expected better. I returned it.

    Not worth it

I purchased the upgraded 42mm Milanese Loop watch three days ago. In those short three days the band has scratched the face, the bottom edge of the face, and the case itself beyond repair. I find this very disappointing considering the high dollar price tag and the fact that I’ve only had it for THREE DAYS!!!! Just get the sport band...

    Loosens with a Jacket on!

I just received this band as a gift and if you wear a jacket that's like a soft shell it will loosen up on you.The magnetic clasp will slip when it catches on the jacket causing the watch to be lose on your wrist and will be hanging off your arm. I had to tighten it up 3 times for only wearing it for just an hour. Don't buy unless you don't wear a jacket. Other then that defiantly looks stylish with the stainless series watch but only giving it a star.

Original Color Milanese should last longer than a year

The magnetic end began slipping excessively. So I scrutinized it and found it was coming apart. A small panel on the inside of the rubber ring was popping up. I tried to push it back down but instead, it fell off to reveal a bubble of rust and corrosion that had formed inside the band.

I do not swim nor bath with the watch on. I do exercises with it on, however. Could it be that there might be some kind of dielectric corrosion between the stainless and other metals caused by moister getting into the magnet compartment?

My band was purchased separately from the phone, yet Apple did agree to replace it. Because I had the extended warranty on the watch, they said the warranty included any Apple Watch accessories as well.

So the low rating is for the band, but not the warranty, which was excellent.

I don't think Apple should have paired this with the stainless watch

I ordered the stainless steel series 3 Apple Watch in space black. The band I chose was this one. I wish I had chosen the sport band instead. The loop not only raised the price but it feels like it also cheapens it and not in the good way. I no longer use it because it would never stay tight. I spent most of my day re-adjusting the band. I now use the other sport bands I used with my old sport model. I thought that if I upgraded to the stainless steel watch the quality in bands would be an upgrade as well. Not the case here.

    One of my favorite things.

The adjustability, the breathability, and the seemingly impossible durability of such a precision construction constantly pleases me.

I love how I can tighten and loosen it throughout the day as I want a different fit for different situations. When I'm sweating a bit I can loosen it, and when it starts slipping around tighten it back up.

My wrist gets much less sweaty under the band than with a traditional band.

I like the black because it doesn't look as flashy as the silver Milanese. It looks fine in everyday casual settings and could be mistaken for nylon at a distance but up close it's beautiful.

    Great innovative instrument.

Great band. If you don't abuse the handling and care for this instrument as you would any information item. You will get excellent service from this timepiece. All of the reviews that are most negative seem to handle the watch and band without care. This is excellent and sign of the future instrument.
Enjoy and follow the Apple care and directions.

    Comfortable and stylish

Had the Nike sports strap with my aluminium style Apple Watch 2 and wanted something for work. This strap fits the brief perfectly - looks great, comfortable with the infinite settings and light and durable. Would recommend it.

    Bottom Line: AMAZING!!!!

I almost got a $12 3rd party band instead of the Apple one since it was cheaper but I decided to take the risk of getting the more expensive Apple band and I LOVE IIIIIITTTTT!!! It's got a VERY strong magnet, looks sexy as frick, and it's SUPER COMFORTABLE! Definitely worth the $200 price tag for the AMAZING quality! Don't risk buying a cheap 3rd party!

Scratches Space Black Stainless Steel Series 2 Watch

The band itself is comfortable, however if the band gets into contact with any part of the watch case, it will scratch it. My sensor is all marked up now.

Will SCRATCH the Ceramic back of your watch

This band is cool, and looks great. But, if it comes into contact AT ALL (even for a split second), it can and will scratch the back of your watch. I learned this the hard way. If you are concerned about this, buy a different band.

    My favorite

I have several straps for my Series 2. Some are after market and some from Apple. My personal favorite is the Milanese loop. I like the precision adjustability. Is very comfortable and good enough that I do not notice anything on my wrist. I like that.

    Good but things to know

To start I like the band. I bought it with the watch.

Two things to be aware of. First it isn't suitable for anything that causes an impact up the arm. If you try golf with it for instance, it will get progessively looser with each hit. The second is that while nothing else has scratched the watch, this band if it comes in contact with the heart rate sensor will cause fine scratches on it. Not a problem most of the time because the charger will be between the band and the watch when you take it off. However if you need to take it off for airport security, for example, it will cause scratches. So a sports band for swap out might be a good idea.

Apart from the points above the band is comfortable, looks good and is very durable.

    Good quality upgrade

Having recently bought a stainless steel space black Apple watch with a sports band I wanted a different strap for work etc. As this was so expensive I briefly considered a cheap version from an online retailer, but suffering from sensitive skin I decided that it was not worth the risk as cheaper versions would probably be painted and not DLC finished.

The strap is very well made and extremely comfortable, although it has a tendency to pull the hairs on your wrist. The magnet was my main concern but it is very strong and barely loosens during a full days wear. I'm sure that a lot of the price is the name but the quality is spot on.

Would definitely recommend the genuine article if you can stretch to it.

    Wonderful. My "perfect" band.

I am very pleased with the Space Black Milanese Loop. I first experimented with this type of band using a third party option, until its painted black coating started rubbing off within a month. Having been otherwise satisfied with the mechanics and feel of the band, I bought the official Apple version.

My first impressions were great. I was not at all surprised to discover that this "black" band is not a deep, true black, but rather a dark gunmetal type of finish -- my "black" Apple Woven Nylon band is the same story. In fact, the two bands look quite similar at a quick glance. This lends itself to some versatility; a perfect band for any formality. I never feel like I'm overdoing it nor underdressed with the Space Black Milanese Loop.

What other reviewers have mentioned is true, for better or worse -- for instance, it looks great with the Space Grey aluminum watch, with the minor concession of the polished stainless steel lugs clashing with the watch's matte aluminum finish. Otherwise, you've got glossy black glass screen, matte grey aluminum watch, and the not-quite-black Milanese Loop with a luster comfortably between the former two materials, both in shade and shine.

As for the diamond-like carbon coating (and its propensity for scratching other parts of the watch,) I can appreciate it being a necessary evil in order to maintain the band's color over time. Third party manufacturers aren't achieving this otherwise, and the black rubs off to bare steel -- not a good look.

Finally, I do get the occasional arm hair snag between the band and its magnet, but only there, and only occasionally. Just the nature of the beast. Those with extra hairy arms may want to give this band a test run to see if it's more of a nuisance than I'm experiencing.

Four stars -- not a "perfect five star" product, as it can scratch the Watch, and can snag your arm hair(s). It also may require retightening later in an active day. However, if you're gentle with the Watch while not in use, don't mind the occasional arm hair snag, and have 2-3 seconds to spare to refasten the magnetic closure, it could be your "perfect" band.

Weak magnet clasp and snags hair

This was a bad purchase. It doesn't look that great; it appears flimsy. I find myself having to frequently tighten the band because the weak magnet keeps slipping. The frequent hair snagging is also quite unpleasant.
