Works flawlessly. The magic is the charging case. Well made and well thought-out. And yes… they stay in my ears.

    Worth every penny.

Excellence that is culminated in a full grown product. Unlike others, this is a matured Apple product. They got it right !
There is of course room for improvement, but hardware wise it's hard to see how they could be better.

    I Like

I'm an old guy and not fond of putting things in my ear, but since these are wireless, I thought I might try.

Glad I did. Sound, not super quality, is beyond expectations and certainly very pleasing. The "pods" seem to disappear from my ears after awhile and just make sound. Very pleasant extended experience.

I found the maximum sound level adequate.

Double tapping to get Siri's attention worked, but (my voice) sound quality was very poor.

I have not spent a great deal of time with these, so I may not have optimized my interaction with them.

A great idea, and I think they have a handle on it. Needs a bit of tweaking.

    Great wireless headphones!

I was super excited when this package came. They were made well and the quality of the headphones and case exceeded my expectations. Listening quality is good and Siri works great. I did have to buy off amazon a adapter for when I run but other than that they stay in the ear well!

    Critical design flaw - LIFE

This product should never have been designed, should never have been released. And, most important, should never be bought.
Keeping track of two tiny things is a recipe for loss. And guess what, one got lost. Another person in the household bought these and now only has half a pair. If these were $20, no problem with losing one. At this price they should have built-in replacement policy - 1 per month - because: LIFE.

I can finally exercise without the cord pulling on my ears. The AirPods are very lightweight, they stay in your ear better than the EarPods. There is no delay when watching videos on your iPhone, considering they connect via Bluetooth that's a big plus. If I could change anything it would be to have the ability to skip tracks by double tapping on the right AirPod and invoke Siri by double tapping on the left AirPod. Hopefully this is only a software update that will come in the future. As of now you both the left and right AirPod invoke Siri. I use it to skip to the next song. You can change this in settings to play and pause music. Overall I would definitely recommend them, sometimes I forget I'm wearing them when I'm working out. Great job Apple! (As usual).

    Great Design, SubPar Performance

I received and have been using my AirPods for the past few days. I love the design, but I have been very let down by the performance. Listening to music is often "spotty", meaning that the song will often times pause for a split-second, which is very annoying. At times, it has been so bad that I just took them out and quit listening. The audio quality while using them for a phone call is bad. They make a "hissing" sound -- almost like someone is blowing into the mic.

Apple has always prided themselves on waiting until products are perfected prior to selling them; thus, I have been very surprised at the poor performance of these AirPods.

Amazing but they kill my phone battery

These headphones are amazing. Out of the box they were super easy to connect to my phone. They had no problem initiating the automatic pairing feature. There was some initial connectivity issues, but after the first day they haven't had any problems. I think it was due to the fact I have two iPhones and an iPad all under the same Apple id account. So it might have tried to pair with a different one. A few downsides, they are amazingly small, so there is a possibility that I will eventually loose them. On the plus side, they are small and powerful. The battery case is small as well. Other downside is that they kill my iPhone battery since it's using Bluetooth to connect so my headphones last longer than my phone. It could also be due to the fact I don't have the newest phone, but who knows.

The AirPods are a must for any fitness junkie. I love being able to hit the gym and never have to worry about cables getting in the way. I was worried that they would fall out, but I have not had that happen yet.

A basically disposable product for $159?

I would probably give the airpods about a 3.5-4 star review if Apple created a reasonable way to track them when they are misplaced and or some discounted replacement cost for the individual components. I ordered my airpods in December and probably had one of the first sets delivered. The functionality is pretty good, but there are definite downsides compared to just the standard apple head phones. No volume adjustment, no song pause, play, skip other than by taking them out or using siri. I recently spent an afternoon running around with the right pod in making and taking calls. At some point the left pod in the case must have fallen out of my pocket because when I got home I could not find them. A quick google search said the find my iPhone app should provide tracking info. I checked and about 5 of my other Apple devices show up but no airpods -no case, no left pod, no right pod. It had been at most a couple hours since I had the case and it was charged the night before so I’m sure the battery didn’t die. Based on my pattern that day just a last know location when the case/ left pod were connected to my phone would have been all I needed for a 95%+ chance at finding them. I called apple care and spoke to a very nice but not very well informed apple representative. He suggested finding the serial number and reporting the loss to law enforcement. The only other option offered is to buy another complete set for full price and presumably wait the 6 weeks shown on the apple site for shipping. I think I'll pass. Apple products are always priced at a steep premium but I've always found them to be a great value as well. This is just not the case with the airpods.

    Don't stay in my ears!

I really wanted to love these. I don't know why Apple thinks 1 size fits all is going to work.
Do not stay in my ears, that's sitting at my desk. I can't imagine how anyone can work out with these things. Going for a walk, or eating with them in, forget it. Cannot wear them with a stocking car or hood, it will knock them out almost immediately.
Music cuts out, with my iPhone IN MY shirt pocket, if I turn my head to the left, no problem, if I turn my head to the right, sound is gone.
Can't use them for phone calls, party on other end can't hear me.
Volume, they are almost loud enough.
Well, 5 stars for coolness factor.
Battery life - I listen all day, up to 12 or 14 hours a day, and the little case that stores a charge and can quickly recharge the airpods is very cool.
Sound quality - seems to be really good, and for the few minutes I can get them to fit in my ears, they seem good at outside noise reduction.
Comforartable - they are light and I believe I could leave them in for hours without discomfort, but, since they fall out every 4-15 minutes, I will never know.
I will be returning these, I guess I'm stuck buying PowerBeats as truly wireless earbuds are not ready for primetime.

great product design and execution...except hard to remove from case.

AirPods have great product design--typical Apple greatness--and execution as far as sound and mic pick up, but I find them to be extraordinarily difficult to remove from their case and have found battery life far less than I expect. (I have dry hands and fingers, but it still shouldn't be difficult to remove a product from its daily case.)

Also, while I know they connect to my iPhone, it's never really clear to me HOW to get them to connect when they don't connect automatically, which usually happens after I fool around with something (like opening and closing the case cover). Also, could be better way to learn remaining battery life.

Excitement ... turned quickly to Disappointment

I've waited months to get a pair of AirPods, and have friends who've loved theirs since December. I got the box home, opened them and put them both in after the amazingly easy pairing feature. But guess what... the right AirPod had/has no audio. Long story short, after self trouble shooting and having a 30 min Apple help chat with somebody (overseas), I was told that I have a hardware issue and need to go into a store. YAY!!! Two stars because the left AirPod worked fine and sounds good. BUT because I waited SO long, and then drove over 2 hours to pick them up from the only store I could find them near my house, minus 3 stars. Can't find any other stories of this issue which is so crazy. Hoping by the time I get to my Genius Bar appointment 2 days from now (first appointment they had), they will actually be fixable or have a pair immediately to replace them....

    They just came in today!

A few months ago, I had tried out the Jaybird Freedoms... and I hated them. Around the same time (seriously Apple, please ship these faster!!!), I ordered the Airpods. I had high expectations for these as I had already been using regular Earpods that came with my iPhone 6. Today, the I picked up the Airpods from the Apple Store after waiting for them to arrive for 6 weeks.

So far, they seem to connect like magic. The W1 chips works wonders, and it just makes the experience so much better. The charging case may initially look cheap, but it has this certain density to it that makes it worth the $159...

I would have liked to see a more elegant way (as opposed to Siri) to adjust volume just using hand gestures, sliding, etc., but I think this is a fair trade-off for the simplicity of this type of solution from Apple. It just works!

All in all, if you use your phone on the daily (who doesn't these days...), the same is true for your current earbuds, and you have enough money to shell out for these, then I say that it's a go!

    Home run

A typical Apple device: no wires, great design even for a first version, great functionality. Incredible battery life for the size/weight! They sound great, stay in the ear (no cable to pull them). The case is a joy to flip open and shut, recharges the AirPods very quickly and fits in jeans small pocket. After the iPhone, your second don't-leave-witout-it accessory!

    Almost had it....

I was so excited to get my AirPods. Took almost 6 weeks after i ordered to arrive. Everything was going fantastic, sounded great, call quality was crisp, stayed in my ear, setup was a piece of cake. Then they started to randomly lose connection to my iPhone 6s. Did it a few times while leaving a voice mail, then disconnected in the middle of a call, then disconnected 3x from the same call.

Thats when i pulled the plug on my purchase. I was within my 14 day refund period and so i reluctantly boxed them up and returned them. What a shame, they were almost perfect and then came the deal breaker of an issue.

Not sure what ultimately is causing it, but $172 for a headset isn't worth it when they are unreliable.
