Works - most of the time

    • Written by Hilary W from San Francisco

This mostly works but is super sensitive to getting bumped. If I'm walking and listening to music it will randomly stop working and I have unplug and replug in to get my phone to register the headphones. Disappointing that apple has put so little quality into their connector products.

    Cheaply made but it works

    • Written by Ashley P from Brooklyn

It’s very fragile and I feel like if I bend it, it would stop working but it works. Just wish they would put a extra protection on the cord.

    Very Poor Design

    • Written by Shana B from Fort Sumner

I had one of these included when I first got my phone. It worked fine for the first few days, but about a week later, a short formed in the wire. These are very poorly designed when you compare them to other adaptors that Apple has made. Surprised and disappointed by the oversight. Would not recommend this product.

    Broke after 3 months

    • Written by Aamod R from Dublin

Used it almost every day, worked great. One day decides to stop working so I don't hear anything when using it. No visible damage to outside of cable.

    An expensive inconvenience

    • Written by Peter V from Columbia

While $10 isn’t that bad of a price, I still don’t want to to pay that much for something so inconvenient. It is very annoying that you can’t do with just one. You have to have one for your headphones, one for your car, and maybe a few more for other uses and it adds up to a collection I can’t keep track of. While I’ve never had one break on me (yet) I’m still not going to give it a good score. I miss my headphone jack.

    product is fragile

    • Written by FRANK C from Toronto

These adapters work but as others have stated are very prone to breakage. They simply stop working after a while. Only $10 but annoying nonetheless. Alternative is $200 Airpods my kids can lose. I'll keep replacing these - maybe buy them in bulk :-)

Have bought a total of three and all broke

    • Written by Jalicia W from Delray beach

I have bought / had 3 total of these adapters but all have been broken. I had them pluuged into my earphone and then into my phone and as soon as I sat down with them (while they we’re in my pocket) they just break inside my phone charging hole. They work great but have just all broke which is horrible. I don’t know what it is but I need something different.

    Not durable at all

    • Written by Stacy D from Englewood

I have had to buy four of these since I got my new phone four months ago. When these things break, they make my phone skip songs and pause and play music randomly. It is extremely annoying. I’m tired of spending $9 to replace it all the time. Make a sturdier cable, please!!

    Breaks so easily

    • Written by Georgia N from Wakefield

This adapter works but not well, after 4 months it’s broken. Personally I hate apple earphones, they’re literally painful to use, and so I always use other branded earphones. Using the adapter gives a slight drop in sound quality, and is also too long when you want to put your phone in your pocket. It is better than most current Bluetooth Earphones though.

    Practically enraged

    • Written by Paula H from Garfield

For about a year this device worked perfectly fine. I could pause and play and skip with my headphone controls perfectly fine. i even bought a few extra just to have around. Now I think this device has some sort of problem with static or movement? I know the problem isn’t my headphones and I’m almost positive it’s not my phone, although I have for a long time thought it was. I’ll be listening to music or podcasts and my media will start skipping like a broken record or pausing itself or playing the next thing or starting over. It’s agonizing. If I accidentally touch the adapter my music pauses. This is totally inconvenient because I work at a job where I do a lot of movement and my media pauses every few seconds. In my car the adapter just stops working mid song (every song) and I have to unplug and plug back in to continue the song. I hope they make an improved version soon. Or at least just have headphones with lighting capabilities more readily available in more stores.

This may kill Apple products for me

    • Written by Ernest C from Chandler

Yes, the dongle works. 4 stars for the product. Minus two for Apple making me buy a dongle to use my best headphones with the iPhone 7 - a tiny, irritating, maddening solution to a problem they created and now make money off of. We don't call it the dongle, we call it the [bleep]ing dongle, as is, Where is that [bleep]ing dongle??? Did I lose it AGAIN??
Why did Apple not flood the market with free dongles when they realized how many customers needed this thing?? Customer goodwill anyone???
Every time I go looking for the [bleep]ing dongle, I think how much I hate Apple's arrogance in this matter, and move a little closer to an Android next time I re-up with Verizon.

While it works, construction is questionable among other concerns

    • Written by Michael T from Chilliwack

    To be brief:
    • This dongle works and works well
    • The cable used is comically thin. I hate how it looks hooked up to my quality headphones. I'm scared I'm going to break it
    • This should not be necessary, or at least should be included in the box

What everyone else said! Air pods did not fit my ears so was back to wired ear buds and it is very annoying to have to have that extra connector. Don't see any reason why you would have gotten rid of the jack. I won't be surprised if it comes back in future iPhones. Even the best companies make bad decisions.

These are not made to last

    • Written by Brandon Z from Mchenry

Ever since purchasing my iPhone 7 plus, I've had to buy a total of three of these adapters every 6-7 months. I really wish they would provide more than just this single solution to be able to use headphones on the newer iPhone models, that would last longer than ~1000 hours of use.

Keeps on breaking so I have to keep repurchasing it :(

    • Written by Saarah K from Houston

I wish they would bring back the earphone jack like in the old iPhones. I have to keep on repurchasing dongles because they either break again or I lose them. This is a real problem and they should have never done this. I have to use the older earphones without the lighting connector because I need the old ones to use both on my laptop and phone for school. They really need to make the wires more sturdy cause they should not be breaking this fast, even the earphones break once in a while. I don’t want to buy new earphones because 1 side broke. They need to make the quality of the wires better because people should not have to keep repurchasing earhones and dongles all the time.

Does work – but has a very short life span

    • Written by Kristal A from Gallup

This product works, but it’s so fragile! It lasted me only a few uses. If you constantly put your iPhone in your back pocket (or any pocket) with this hanging out, it will start clipping out the audio in no time. I only use this when I want it visible that I’m listening to music (while at work). Or when I didn’t charge my Bluetooth earbuds. If you want to stick with wired earbuds, I suggest getting the lightning cabled Apple earbuds instead of this adapter. Though I don’t have those, so no review from me concerning those.

    Breaks Easily

    • Written by Callie K from Mt. Juliet

I bought this item to use in my older car to play music, since it required a cassette AUX cord. A few months after use, the music playing through my phone in my car started to fastforward itself, change songs, etc., without my command. I also bought one for my headphones, since I didn't want to buy a whole new pair of $40 earbuds with a lightning jack. A few days ago, the same fastforwarding and changing songs by itself happened with my phone. I definitely would not recommend buying this product, as simply purchasing an item with a lightning jack would save you money in the long run.
