    VERY disappointed in design, construction, and concerned about failure

    Just purchased the new Gen7 iPad along with the keyboard which is advertised to also double as a case. Now upon opening everything we find that the keyboard is not really a protective case. It doesn't protect the whole screen as a REAL case would plus the keyboard doesn't lie completely flat. I'm also seriously concerned about the durability of the keyboard considering that many other users say their keyboards failed within months and even a 2nd one replaced by Apple failed. The keyboard obviously was not built to last and the problem can immediately be seen in the folding joints are flexible plastic which soon crack from being bent = fatigue failure of the plastic material. The keyboard would be nice IF it held up to use and IF it really was a case. I expect more from Apple especially at this outrageous price point!

    Next to useless Suggest avoid until technical issues resolved

    First keyboard lasted 14 months. Replaced with a new one ,which has only lasted a few months. Fails to connect with iPad Pro to enable keyboard use..Apple support referred me to Genius Bar! It just does not work. Totally unreliable and not worth the money. Apple get your act together on quality control this seems to be a less than rare issue

    Don’t buy

    Got the keyboard for my iPad Pro 2 years ago. After a year and a half it started to behave erratically (intermittently not connecting) and now it is completely dead... A very expensive and poorly designed keyboard that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I took it to the Genius Bar yesterday and was told that there’s nothing to do and that I need to buy a new one. Taking a look at the other reviews, it looks like that I’m not alone, and that the keyboard suffers from a very bad design flaw like the one on the keyboard for the 9.7” iPad Pro, but unlike the latter, Apple is not taking responsibility for the design flaw. Very disappointing...

    Don't buy

    I have bought this keyboard and I was so excited to use however now I am selling it.
    Very bad experience it slips and doesn't protect it.
    recommend buying full cover for the iPad and the pencil

    I’m a student and thought I bought quality

    As many others have noted, the keyboard just died approximately two years after I bought it. I cannot afford a new keyboard and I feel absolutely cheated out of my money. What am I going to do now? If only the Apple retailer would have told me upfront that the life expectancy was so low. Then maybe I could have spent my hard earned money on quality - aka not an Apple brand. DO NOT BUY!

    I have long though about migrating back to Android. This was the last nail in the coffin for me. Never Apple again.

    I wanted to love this keyboard

    I bought this keyboard for school to be accessible while I’m at work. I have even had it for a month and the delete button just stopped working. No water damage or anything because I keep it in the box and take it out when needed. In mid-essay form, it just stopped working. I’m so disappointed in this keyboard because I actually loved it and found it to be so convenient!

    Last time I buy an Apple product. I just returned from the Apple store / Genius bar where they attendant explained it no longer works due to simple wear and tear... and that this is not uncommon. Yet they wont replace it. Super expensive keyboard and it doesnt last. Buy something from Logitech instead.

    One Year is all i got...

    My keyboard had very light usage and was always kept safely in a very cushy bag. Keyboard got spotty at month 9 with intermittent successes. I would routinely have to unlatch/restart my device; which is extremely frustrating during time sensitive work while using what should be a dependable product. No such luck. My keyboard has not functioned in the slightest for a few months now.

    Do NOT Buy this Product

    This keyboard case is the worst. This is my third iPad and I have never had a problem with cases before. I thought they sent me the wrong case, as the box had it labeled for the iPad Pro. I took it to the Apple store, they assured me it was the correct case/keyboard. I watched 2 Apple employees at the store, not know how to put it on. They needed a third to help. It is not intuitive. I would have returned it right then and there, but I was outside the 30-day return window. I should have listened to my gut. This case does NOT stay on. Today my iPad fell from the counter with the case on...the case fell off and my iPad screen cracked. I now I have to pay $399 to replace a screen on a 2-month-old iPad. I have never cracked an iPad screen before. DO NOT BUY THIS CASE/KEYBOARD, it's a waste of money. I have never been so disappointed with an Apple product.

    I loved this keyboard but right after i finished my contract on my ipad pro and now, it stopped working or having its hiccups.. after a month its done. Went to apple store to get it looked at. They offered me a replacement for £135. Didn't even explain whats wrong and felt like he was rushing me to finish my appointment, so i forgot to ask what could’ve been the problem!

    Not buying again... knowing it will only last 1 year or so..

    Piece of you know

    I barely use this smart keyboard, apple is a joke, make a very poor quality product and don’t want to recognize it.
    They extended the warranty but they should replace all keyboards with known problems as mine. Out of nothing it stopped to work, apple said my keyboard is out of warranty 4 months and want to charge me $99 + taxes to replace mine. They don’t even have a way to fix it. I threw money In the garbage with this

    A Smart Keyboard the becomes Stupid...

    I am a big fan of Apple and never have had an issue. This so called Apple Smart Keyboard (ASK) becomes very stupid after about a year. One needs to ASK themselves if it's apple or a 3rd party that makes them. ASK yourself do you believe all the negative reviews and you just want this product? ASK yourself if it's better to look else where for less money.

    I didn't ASK these question and I am now stuck with a stupid cover for my iPad.

    I have tried the recommendations in the Apple support forums, the youtube videos and the ASK forums, to no avail. I am now looking to purchase a less expensive keyboard and stick to bluetooth.

    Terrible design

    I purchased an iPad and, at the same time, purchased the keyboard along with it, without reading the reviews first. HUGE MISTAKE. I found out the keyboard doesn’t lie flat when typing. I’m trying to flatten it with a weight or something while I’m not using it. $160 for this thing are an insult. Will never buy an apple keboard again.

    Worst keyboard ever! Waste of money.

    Hello, I would like to start off by saying I cannot believe this keyboard. I have been a fan of Apple for so many years. I have had every Apple iPhone since the first generation including the S models. I’ve had every Apple iPad since the first one as well. All I can tell you is this keyboard is the most ridiculous insulting thing I have ever experienced. No backlight, no protection for your device on the back. $160 for a device that makes me feel like I am going back in time. I don’t know what the engineers were thinking or this is just a tactic to make more money. But let me tell you I don’t think we deserve this as customers this keyboard is horrible. How can I not be able to use my iPad in less than extremely light setting because I can’t see the keyboard or what I’m typing. Definitely I would give it zero stars if possible.

    Failed after 2 years and was too expensive for that

    While mine lasted longer than others, it still failed and I need to go buy a replacement. I’m being harsh due to the cost, for $160 there should have been a longer lifespan. And, there should have been an AppleCare coverage for 2 years. Now, it failed after 2 years, but the fraying and the other cosmetic issues started much earlier.

    Big reliability issues

    Nice keyboard providing good protection to the iPad but big reliability issues
    I bought the first iPad Pro in 2016, the first keyboard lasted only 11 months and was replaced by Apple. I then bought the next generation iPad Pro early 2018 and again 15 months after the Smart Keyboard fails. And I had to replace it at my own expenses
