Why change something that was perfect? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

    • Written by Catherine V from Oakland

This case used to be offered with an attached back, an all-in-one piece. I had an iPad and that case for a while and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, it was stolen from me so I had to replace both the iPad and the case. I’m very happy with my new iPad Pro, however, Apple stopped making the smart case I used to have. I was disappointed but got the Smart Cover any way, thinking it must be just as good. Boy, was I wrong. The case looks and feels beautiful, yes, which is why it gets two stars, but on functionality alone it would get zero. The magnet is terrible. With the case in a triangle shape propping up the iPad, the magnet constantly gives way and detaches from the iPad. At that point, there’s nothing left to protect the iPad. I’ve had my iPad and Smart Cover only since Christmas and this has happened to me probably 90 times, at least once per day, most often with my iPad falling off the table, bed, couch, airplane tray table, etc and onto the hard floor... and yep, you guessed it, my 3 month old iPad Pro now has a giant crack down the middle. Thanks a lot. With the smart case, I had zero issues, not even the smallest crack. Why Apple got rid of that case I will never know. I’m hoping they bring it back so I can get rid of this awful and frustrating product, and I’m also hoping they offer to replace my screen for me. I definitely do not recommend this product unless you want a cracked iPad. Hold out for a relaunch of the smart case. I have my fingers crossed.

A significant improvement over the regular smart cover

    • Written by Michael H from Ann Arbor

This cover is slightly thicker and heavier than the regular Smart Cover—and the magnets inside it are a good deal stronger, which means that when you fold up the cover to use it as a stand, and especially in the upright position, it is a good deal more stable than the regular Smart Cover. If you plan to use the Smart Cover as a stand, it is worth the extra $20 for the durability and greater stability.
