    Innovative Idea, Awful Execution

    • Written by Adrian A from Dallas

Die hard Apple fan here, until this purchase. I sit here and wonder how long Apple thinks they will get away with producing hardware inefficient products with flashy outer casings that make everyone drool. AirPods are a complete ripoff. Sure, they have great battery life (quite possibly the best on the market when considering their charging case), seamless connection between Apple devices, a great microphone, and a few other nice features.

However, ask yourself, what are these features worth if sound does not consistently come through the AirPods when walking down the street. Yes, that's right, look it up. Search google, "airpods cut in and out when phone is pocket". You will find a thread on both Reddit and Apple.com dating back to AirPod's initial release, and still no solution exists. So just know, when you pay $150+ for AirPods, expect that when you're walking down the street with your phone in your pocket, the AirPods will simply not work.

The reason for this? The Bluetooth antenna in the AirPods is of such poor quality that it can not deal with external interference. I have been an owner of several different pairs of wireless earbuds/headphones from JBL to Bose and not one has had this problem, because they don't cut corners when it comes to hardware, unlike Apple. I hope Mr. Cook at least spends some time reading the tens of thousands of comments about this issue on the internet, and then maybe Apple will reconsider their integrity.

Get the ones without the wireless charging case

    • Written by Zach W from Aurora

The new pair is awful in comparison. The wireless charging case ones I have to unpair and repair and the old ones just work. Really bummed on this purchase.

    Extremely Disappointed and Disappointing

    • Written by Javier S from Ontario

I really was looking forward to these version of Airpods, but starting off I would have to say they have been a waste of time and money. I have had to exchange my Airpods not once, twice but three times. Why, because for some reason each pair I have got the Airpods themselves charge to 100% but continue to charge without stopping. I have contacted Apple multiple times and they cannot even figure out what is wrong with their own product. My honest advice is that these really need to go back to the drawing board to figure out what went wrong.

    Garbage

    • Written by Michael B from Austin

I had the first version of the Airpods, and absolutely loved them! They worked perfectly, pretty much all the time. I have had nothing but problems with the new ones with the wireless case. They must not fit snug in the case or something like that, because more often than not i find that either the left or right airpod did not charge in the case. I never had this problem with the old ones. I even got apple to completely replace these a few weeks ago, and i have the same problems with the "new" (refurbished) pair. I wish i could get my money back...

Not good for working out/too large to fit snugly in your ear

    • Written by Suzanne H from Alexandria

I should have known better - the plug in earphones that come with the iphones never worked in my ears - always waaaay to big, like they were made for a very large man with huge ears. But I needed to headphones so bought these. When I go on a run I am constantly pushing them back into my ears and they have even fallen out of my ears on a run. When I'm locked into my Peloton bike and one falls off you can imagine the pain it is to click out of the pedal, stop your workout and retrieve the ear pod. I am hoping I can return them for something else. Apple - please make your headphones either in different sizes and don't advertise people exercising with these on because they don't stay in. They are best for sitting down listening to a book or something like that.

    Disappointment

    • Written by Frederic N from Irvine

Just got a new pair less than a week ago. I used them all day until the case and the battery were both dead. I go to charge the case on the same Qi charger I bought from you guys and it wont even charge. Tried it on 2 other chargers and still nothing. Guess it's not worth the hype

    Very Disappointed!

    • Written by Barbara L from Waikoloa

Sound is great when both buds work. I use them for my 3 mile walk/jog each morning. They must be charged each time. However, although I manually disconnect them when not in use they automatically turn back on and wear down the charge. I keep turning them off to no avail!!! Very frustrating!

    Nope

    • Written by Taylor S from Park city

The original AirPods were great. No issues. Bought the 2nd gen ones because my original ones were getting pretty beat up from daily use. Nothing but issues with these. Half the time they don't connect to my iPhone 8 Plus or MacBook Pro and when they do, often its only just one side that connects and other is non existent. This is my second pair with the same issues. QA has definiley decrease. The case hinge also feels much flimsier and cheaper.

One size does not fit all

    • Written by Elena D from Tumwater

I wanted to like them but I hate them instead. They're giant, do not fit right, and have no grip at all. Who thought that hard smooth shiny plastic would be great for the earphones? They are not made for talking. When talking or snacking my jaw moves and the earphones slowly but surely make their way out of my ears. One size does not fit all, Apple!

    I returned mine

    • Written by Milan R from Los Angeles

I received these on Wednesday March 27. Two days after, I noticed the left AirPod doesn't charge properly. AirPods where in the case all night long and in the morning the case was charged 100%, the right AirPod 100%, and the left AirPod 75%. Last night I left 100% charged AirPods and the case on my desk. This morning I found the case 100%, the right 100% and the left 35%. I decided to return it.

    I hate these earphones

    • Written by Janae D from Camden

These earphones slip out constantly. They never stay in even if I am just sitting still. They slowly start sliding out and I have to push them back in with so much force that it actually hurts my ear. I even got some covers to help since for some reason apple decided to make their earphones out of the hardest material ever, but to no avail, they some how don’t even fit in my ears and they are still uncomfortable. I really wish I had not purchased these earphones. On a positive note, they do have incredible sound for the second they are in my ear before they start sliding out.

    I returned Mine

    • Written by Ahmed M from Jubail

I received my pairs on 4/4/2019 and I had to return them after one week of usage.

The right side one is always depleting much faster than the left one. I kept using them for a week to just confirm the situation.

I forced my iPhone to forget them and pairing again. The same issue kept the same. I had to return them after confirming that the issue happened each time after full charge.

Worse experience compared to AirPods 1

    • Written by Alexander K

I’ve upgraded primarily because of battery life and expected to have a product which is significant improvement to the first generation. Conclusion is AirPods 2 provide worse experience overall as 1) connectivity speed isn’t improved so much, 2) listening to music, they pause/play without being touched, 3) they disconnect from macbook/phone after minimal touch to fix them in the ear. Big disappointment, but no surprise seeing the iPhone 11. Apple is loosing any sense for creativity and innovation with every next product.

    Waste of money

    • Written by anne-marie K from DDO

If you are buying these to workout in, don’t. If you run they are constantly falling out. After about 9 months of using them, the left pod stopped charging. When I brought them to the store, I was told that they were fine and they needed to be reset. That worked for a short period of time. Now I’m back to them not charging and they are just over 1 year old...so nothing can be done. Very frustrating for the price you pay.

    Yet another badly executed product

    • Written by Andrew C from Newton Abbot

What’s the deal with double tap only working once?

If that’s not bad enough I had a bent iPad Pro OUT OF THE BOX that is within engineering parameters. Thank god my Network provider is shipping a replacement so I don’t have to listen to the sanctimonious BS the Genius Tech’s provide. Buy with Apple and the Bend is within tolerance, no action taken. Get your spirit levels ready, check it and send it straight back to them if it is and buy another.

12 years with Apple and in the past few years it’s one issue after another after another after another or they pull products.

Time to end your constant drivel and man up! Bent is acceptable my backside. Build me a flat iPad for £1669 you arrogant bunch of (Insert a word to choose)

    It’s getting VERY old.

    Wish I had not bought

    • Written by Jean K from Greenport

I had to push the AirPods so far into my ears that it hurt & they still popped with the slightest movement & I only wore in bed so I could listen to my iPad without disturbing my partner. I complained to my daughter in law about them & turns out my son had bought them for her & the very first time she used them, she went running & one popped out & into the east river. I have been an apple fan since my first apple purchase 10 years ago (4 laptops (3 were gifts) 3 iPhones & my iPad) This is the first apple purchase I regret & was a very expensive mistake. I’d give zero stars if I could.

    Extremely dissatisfied

    • Written by Rashelle B from Omaha

I was really excited to get my airpods 2. I have to use both hands to get them to stay on my ears. I have to get them as far into my ear canal as possible, push in on it with one finger while I turn it towards my face with the other hand. I have to use so much force it is painful, but I paid so much for them I'm not just going to not use them. Even after this I can't move hardly at all or they come out. I can't even sing along with a song or eat. For the amount of money I paid, needless to say it upsets me. What research did you do that made you think one size fits all? A company as large as yours should really put more common sense into your products, but it seems making a ton of money is your main goal. For the price you're charging for these you should be ashamed. I own these, an iPhone X and an apple watch 4. You don't even want to get me started on the problems I've had with mu phone. Well I wasted alot money and am switching back to Android. Thanks for taking alot of money from me for nothing. I couldn't even write my review that I wanted because you didn't like a word, and it wasn't even a bad word. Pathetic.

    Pretty Disappointed

    • Written by Siddhant P from Evanston

After waiting for over 4 months for these, I am pretty disappointed with my purchase. The connection to multiple devices is not as 'Seamless' as described on the website. Also faced several issues connecting them to my iPhones and my MacBook. I have used them for about a month now and overall, I would not recommend these to other apple users. The only good thing about them is the battery life.

    Won’t stop cutting out

    • Written by Kristen K from St peters

I’ve had my AirPods for not even 2 weeks, majority of the time I can only get them to play out of one ear, while a good chunk of the rest of the time is spent listening to them constantly cutting out. $170 for garbage. I have tried resetting them multiple times, don’t recommend if you actually want to listen to music.
