This is the BEST stylus I have ever used.
I came to the event in October 2018 and got my hands on it.

    Excellent pencil

    • Written by Dan B from Reading

I picked this up today it works great and it is very cool that you can stick to the side of the tablet when not in use and that also charges it . Great job apple ,both this and the keyboard are awesome.

This is my first apple pencil, to go along with my first iPad (new 12.9") and i am so happy with it. i watched a lot of reviews about the iPad pro and first gen pencil with all of its problems (dodgy way of charging, lost caps etc) and decided to wait to see what gen 2 brought, and i am so happy i did. the easy charging/pairing and storing on the side of the iPad is a dream.

Kinda tired with all the negative reviews. This new version is great and works fine. Nothing is wrong with it. Pricing is NOT a good reason to give a bad review.

    Confused by the reviews

    • Written by TINA Y from Redwood City

Full disclosure, I do not own the first gen pencil; I've only used it on several occasions. My husband has one however, and for the most part, enjoys it. He has no complaints about the pencil, other than charging is rather a pain. The fact that this pencil sticks to the right side of the iPad Pro is awesome - no need to worry about losing it. I do have the phantom touch issue where it switches to an eraser. That is annoying.

As for people who are looking for a case that protects both the pencil and iPad; if you have the iPad Pro 11 or 3rd gen 12.9, get the Otterbox Symmetry Series 360. It has a fold over flap which keeps your pencil secured. I have yet to lose my pencil. Not the perfect case in that the flap doesn't tuck out of the way if you have the iPad in one of its stand modes. Nonetheless, I think it is a minor flaw given that protecting the pencil from falling off or getting lose. So, if your iPad does work this case, I would highly recommend obtaining one for your pencil.

It's a pencil, a brush, a marker and an eraser all in one. Pretty cool piece of technology. The reviewers complaining that the pencil falls off the iPad Pro have NOT found the correct magnet on the right side of the pro. Theres a very weak magnetic connection on the left side. Theres a much stronger magnetic on the right side and when you find it the pencil literally snaps into place. You can see a little rectangular on the right side of the iPad Pro...thats your Huckleberry!! Pairs in an instant, charges wirelessly...whats not to like? I use it to mark up sheet music on the forScore app. Highly recommend!!

    Excellent Pencil - Major improvement

    • Written by Emery K from Doylestown

The new Apple Pencil is excellent. I use it daily with no issues, long lasting, effective. Some people noted it will fall off, BUT only if hit or banged into. The magnet is firm, but not the way to carry out in the open, nor was it designed for that. I carry mine with my iPad in a bag as well as it't protective case. It works in a number of apps now and is excellent for taking notes. I use Notability. Recently at a seminar I used for 7 hours with no hitches and was able to take notes, highlight presentation, make network drawings, and sketches. It is a very pratical pen with great features. As more apps link into this fine device it will become 2nd nature. Upgrade, give us more commands, like double tap and triple tape to change additional functions. Take care of the Apple Pencil and it will serve you well.

Better in every way over first generation Pencil

    • Written by Robert M from Brunswick

I completely enjoyed using my original first generation Apple Pencil with an iPad Pro 9.7". The new second generation Apple Pencil has improved even more. From pairing, charging, storing, and using the Pencil, this new design is even better than before. I enjoy the feel and weight of the Pencil and find using it with an iPad Pro 11" to be perfect. My most used Pencil enabled app is Paper and I'm truly loving the new Pencil for sketching in it. The ability to double tap the Pencil to switch tools is wonderful. Very well done, Apple!

I was very skeptical at first regarding the new apple pen. I am still not extremely happy with the magnet and as a result I had lost my pen. I was disheartened however, knew it was my fault. Well, I found my pen and I have to give Apple kudos. My pen was in my backyard, in the rain and wet, for two weeks. When i found it, not only does it work perfectly, it still had a 15% charge. I’m no longer skeptical.

Works as expected with no thinking

    • Written by Stephen W from Belleville

Ive gradually moved over from Microsoft to Apple, since I just want to get work done. I don’t use the pencil for detailed artwork, but note taking and sketches. In addition, I do use it as a stylus instead of my finger. It just works the way you would expect it to work. I used it on a business trip with the iPad Pro, and did not take a laptop. I was easily able to keep everything together, and not worry about the technology interfering with the work. It also works great while moving around in to a Windows environment via Remote Desktop as a pointer (since icons and menus render so small on the small iPad Pro).

The charging and pairing mechanism is nice and clean. The magnet is reasonably strong, but can understand the concern about dropping it or protection. I have dropped the pencil a couple of times from around 4 feet onto a hard surface, and it did not appear to affect it. With a ‘glass’ screen protector on the iPad Pro, there does appear to be a slight loss of sensitivity. In addition, the protector surface is slicker than the iPad screen itself. That is, there’s a better feel with the pencil on the iPad screen, with more drag. I suspect if you were going for more detailed artwork, a screen protector may limit the range of ability.

Makes all the difference in my iPad experience

    • Written by Kathleen G from Lebanon

I have been a long-time user of an iMac, but in February I decided to go by way of an iPad. I bought a 12.9 Pro with the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, 2nd generation. Granted, I have nothing to compare it to, but I couldn't be happier with the setup. Lack of mobility had been a long-standing issue for me and this has taken care of that. I design my own book covers and could not imagine using Procreate without the Apple Pencil. I use it for note-taking, artwork, even surfing as I find it easier than using my finger 9which leaves residual oils on the screen no matter how many times I wash my hands). My iMac feels neglected...haha

I have multiple Apple Pencil 2

    • Written by Zhuoyan X from London

I understand both side of the reviews as I have multiple apple pencils 2 and iPad.

In general its a remarkable product that light years ahead of other drawing products. It’s very smooth and intuitive.

But yes, out of many Apple Pencil 2 I have, one of the pencil just don’t stick on iPad that well.

Sometime it does have connectivity issues (can be resolved with a simple repair)

    The Perfect Companion

    • Written by Thomas K from Eaton

The original Apple Pencil was revolutionary in terms of iPad versatility, but the improvements made on this second generation seem obvious and suddenly make the old one look all but primitive. The description of the device says it all: smaller, easier to hold, easier to adjust, easier to charge, easier to find, and on and on. Yes, it’s expensive, but good things are worth it!

    In Love with this Pencil

    • Written by Alfredo H from Rancho Cucamonga

I can’t believe how nice this pencil 2 is, it works well with my iPad Pro 11(3rd gen), out of the box it was about 20% and in about 25 min or less it was fully charged.

This pencil 2 and iPad Pro work perfectly, the surface or the pencil has more texture, i don’t know how to explain it but i was previously disappointed with pencil 1 on a iPad Air because it felt so glossy and slippery. This is the perfect setup for an artist who also uses the Wacom Cintiqs. The only thing I dislike from a Cintiq is that it’s not mobile as this setup, I like playing YouTube music and drawing on Sketch simultaneously without any cables like the cintiqs. Not sure why so many negative reviews, if pencil is lost it’s not because of Apple. This Pencil is so worth it. Tip: online you get free engraving in stores none, get it, spend the money, you deserve the best, life is short, if you don’t like it just return it. Much luck

Hands down, the most intuitive digital drawing input!

    • Written by Rommel O from Los Angeles

It's not perfect. Even though the magnet is relatively strong, I still feel the pencil can come off when I'm carrying the ipad around. So I got a case with a pencil holder built-in, that also charges the pencil at the same time. Problem solved. As a drawing input, and when used properly and after a while of getting used to, it becomes the most intuitive digital input tool I have used that allowed me to do more with what I do, which is designing. I simply enjoy holding it and using it. To me, that is a triumph in design and purpose! It ain't cheap though.

People do not understand. Amazing product

    • Written by andrew B from Porter Ranch

Ok so i don’t know if people know that the magnet is suppose to go into the iPad Pro. Not the fridge as I have seen some 1 star reviews say. This is an amazing product. Works way better. Goes so perfectly with my iPad Pro. You should get the iPad Pro that had a magnet inside of the iPad. Not stick it onto your wall or fridge (some walls have magnets in them). It is also has a great build and is very strong. 100/100 would recommend this.

Great Tool! Not as bad as people say!

    • Written by Eddie A from Las Vegas

Okay, I’ve had the Apple Pencil for about a month now. I almost didn’t buy it because I read negative reviews about its durability and the magnet. People are clearly careless. You need to learn how to attach the pencil to the iPad. It is easy to use. I love taking notes on it and using it to learn Japanese writing. Don’t lose it. If you attach it right it will not fall. People are too careless and irresponsible, imho.
