    The keys are not backlit

    • Written by Kenneth C from Washington

The keybaord is great during daylight hours, but if your are travling on a plane or want to use the it in a dimly lit are like a coffee shop it is not usable. For $179.00 I expect more. Logitec figured out how to ad backlit keys to their case 2 years ago. Returning it tomorrow.

Decide not to buy the 2018 iPad Pro because of the keyboard

    • Written by William T from Edmond

My old iPad a Apple Smart Keyboard is near perfect. The new keyboard has numerous deign issues. 1) the keyboard when folded flat leaves the keys exposed. The old keyboard had the keys protected. 2) the keyboard will not fold up and let you use in what I call theater mode (no keyboard in front and will stand by itself). You had three folding options with the old keyboard. 3) the cover does not protect the iPad. Keeps coming off if dropped.

I use my iPad for about everything and fly with it. The new keyboard design will keep me from buying the 2018 model. Need to offer the same functionality as the pervious model to get me to buy a new iPad. I give up to much functionality.

    Not worth it

    • Written by LU T from Seattle

I bought this with my new iPad Pro and it won’t either hold a charge or there is some weird connection issue as it works for a little bit but eventually stops. I travel for work internationally and to sit there and use it on the plane with WiFi for work is useless as I have to just peck at the screen. I can’t tell if it stops working after the battery on the iPad drops to a certain level but it happens even when the battery on the iPad is at 90%. I have another friend who bought one and had similar issues with this keyboard. I think apple quality has gone down hill in the last few years as my iPhone X battery is draining way faster than normal since the last iOS update.

Get your stuff together apple! It doesn’t “just work” anymore like it use to.

    Keyboard

After 6 months, keyboard worked intermittently, then not at all. Cover is fraying. Called support, did not get any answers. Checked with internet support, and many others are having the same problem.

    Mediocre Keyboard

    • Written by Adrian S from Pfaffhausen

At least on the 11” iPad the Keyboard is not that great, do not plan on writing more than a few sentences at a time on this keyboard, if you’re a fast typer. The price is absolutly bananas too. Less key-resistance would solve the problem.

    Very inconvenient - very unhappy

    • Written by Moraima R from Canton

I bought the 11" keyboard case for the new iPad Pro 2018 because there were no other aftermarket keyboard cases as there had been with previous iPad versions. I had to protect the iPad, but it appears that Apple didn't release specifications early enough which gave the customers no alternatives for our protection of this serious investment and therefore we had to buy the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio. I don't mind paying for good quality which is why I'm married to Apple products, but the 12.9" at $199, the 11" at $179, and the $159 for the 10.5" are hefty prices considering the quality. You have to practically wrestle the iPad away from its bottom to close it or to change position. The case itself doesn't really protect the iPad leaving 3 edges exposed. The keyboard is noisy and has no backlighting which makes it impossible to work under dim lights. The bottom end of the keyboard is too close to the edge and you have to type with bent wrists or you will be hitting the lowermost keys which messes up your work. Is this the beginning of a downward spiral for Apple? Be aware that lack of quality control in design on other products may be the end of Apple's competitive advantage in the marketplace.

    as bad as it gets!

    • Written by Doman G from Düsseldorf

no real protection, no pencil cover up which makes holding the iPad while Pencil is attached awkward, not backlit, no real tactile. and extremely expensive!
you can't really design a worse keyboard even if you absolutely go for it!!! 1 star since 0 is not an option!

Very disappointed in this case. It offers absolutely NO protection against small bumps and drops. Entirely unacceptable.
    No backlight.

    Not worth the money

    • Written by Donald M from Gilbert

I was so excited when I receive my new iPad Pro 11. I had high hopes where the keys to revive protection for my new iPad. I was wrong. The case has a couple of flaws. One, no protection for the sides of the device. Two, the case when closing at the magnet that holds the iPad in place is not strong enough to maintain its attachment to the case and the iPad will fall out. So far my iPad has fallen to the ground three times. All I can say is you would be better off taking the money you would spend on this case and burn it. Sorry Apple but it’s time for you to go back to the drawing board.

Returned it after a couple of days!!

    • Written by David L from Palm City

This cover is not handholding friendly. The iPad Air 2 cover I previously owned was soft, well rounded and comfortable to hold. This one was hard & sharp edged, offered little protection and fell out of the cover a couple of times in only a few day. The trade off for a physical keyboard was not worth the terrible annoyance every time I used it to simply hold and read! I bought the otter box and will wait for the Logitech keyboard cover to be released (soon I hope!). Apple really missed the mark on this one!

    Cardinal Design Flaw

    • Written by Chris H from Charlotte

If a keyboard case’s design has the keyboard resting on my iPad’s beautiful screen (which will lead to screen scratching through normal use) then the design is a complete failure. This case fails the test. Apple needs to redesign.

    Easy to type, NO protection

    • Written by Tyler S from Alpine

This keyboard is okay, it is definitely more about form over function as it has zero protection for your iPad. I would avoid this keyboard altogether and get the Logitech one or the new Brydge. They’re both Bluetooth but work better and have way more protection. Apple’s use of the smart connector on the BACK of the device is dumb and not useful whatsoever. AVOID this keyboard as it is overpriced and not protective AT all.

    Hate it

    • Written by Carrie V from DARIEN

I really hate this! It provides absolutely no protection along the sides and when you don’t want to use the keyboard and you fold it back your fingers are against the keys! It’s so uncomfortable to hold. And you can’t take it off because then you have no protection at all. It also only comes in one gray color. on my old iPad Pro I had a beautiful lavender cover that the iPad tucked into and it covered the sides and protected it really nicely. Then there was a separate keyboard that attached magnetically. When you folded it back you weren’t touching the keys because they were tucked inside. You could also remove the keyboard and just hold the iPad with only the back cover on it. This is just awful. I feel like if I drop the iPad it’ll fall right out of this cover and crack into 1 million pieces. Really really hate this especially for that price!

    Worked great...for about a year

    • Written by Mark W from Hayward

I really thought this was a good keyboard/folio case. However after a year, it started going berzerk. Stopped working, only worked occasionally, and also cause my iPad Pro's battery to drain fast. I had to stop using it. Now I am ordering another non-apple keyboard for my iPad Pro. Will see how that one works.

I would stay away from this one, however. It's very expensive (1.5x the price I paid for the replacement) and unreliable. I think it would work better if I had not used it in bed and only used it on a desk or something, but that just doesn't seem practical.

    Steer clear!

Doesn't hold onto the IPAD AT ALL

    • Written by Shannon R from Cheyenne

I was excited to get this for my new iPad, but it has no ability to hold the iPad in place. So essentially, the iPad slides all over it. You can use the groves on the bottom (the keyboard side), but the back of the casing doesn't have any magnets, clasps, ANY way to hold the iPad in place. I needed a keyboard to travel with and not just use in one precarious position. This is ridiculously low quality for this price range and for Apple to carry in general. I don't know how well the actual keyboard works because it is useless to me if there is no way to secure the iPad to it.

Great, but with this newest version iPad shakes??

    • Written by AARON P from Washington

I have had an iPad Pro since their debut in 2015, both sizes, all interactions, always with a keyboard/folio combo. Lamented that the original 12” set up - with the full cover that detached from the keyboard, was discontinued, but was a big user and fan of the new keyboard that came up with the 10.5 inch, which I have used avidly since 2017. Recently upgraded to the 11”. I love these keyboards and find them easier to type on than any MacBook keyboard I have, especially the new “butterfly” generation. So now that I have now my 3rd keyboard folio, I am all but shocked to see that THE IPAD SHAKES WHEN I TOUCH IT WITH THIS KEYBOARD!!! Has anybody else experienced this? It has totally detracted from the experience of the folio from the first moments of using it. Basically, when I reach for the screen with the iPad in either position, and tap at all, the entire iPad shakes. It’s like the back support of this case is too flimsily designed. Makes me feel like if I go to an expensive restaurant and sit down and the table wobbles because the legs are not balanced. This is a huge annoyance and I am not sure if this is something I can get used, and frankly I shouldn’t have to! I have combed the web for alternatives to Apple’s folios, even bought and tested Logitech and Brydge and ultimately deemed the Apple the best. This is an amazing disappointment. I hope they will fix this I’d pay another $170, as unreasonable as that is, to get the original Apple keyboard folio experience back. I am curious, anybody else finding this as annoying as me?

Keyboard is nice, but offers no protection for 3 sides.

    • Written by ALLEN C from HACIENDA HEIGHTS

Keyboard is functional and thin and now battery needed. But it offers no protection for 3 sides and all four corners. The iPad pops out almost every time when I pull it off the keyboard to close, once it pops out it's thin and slippery and it may fall to the ground (like I did, all four corners are damaged). I regret getting this.

Not worth the price (even if cost half what it does)

    • Written by Gary K from Acworth

I bought this for my new 11" iPD Pro because nothing else was available. This is better than the first gen which I had on my original 12" iPad Pro but still leaves too much to be desired to justify the cost. The cover/keyboard sacrifices protection for thinness and lightness. The back does not stay on. Every time I try to fold or unfold the iPad the back pops off. You need bright light to see the keys. I wish I had taken it back and gotten my money back within the grace period. I will be getting the Logitech case/keyboard when it becomes available (with backlit keys).
