    OK

    • Written by Jared J from Lynnwood

This keyboard cover is OK. My main gripe is honestly fit and finish. It doesn't have a nice premium feel to it that you expect from Apple, especially for the $200 price tag. It just feels like cheap ish plastic on the outside. And boy does it get smudges and fingerprints and shows everything. I am a clean freak so this drives me nuts. And it doesn't clean easily.

I do like the magnetic connection - although it is not super strong. Most everyday use it is fine - and I am very gentle on my electronic devices - but it does come out fairly easily when just doing normal things with it. It can be a little annoying sometimes. I like the viewing and use angles, no huge issues there.

I do love the keys themselves. It obviously doesn't have the feedback that a normal keyboard has, but I like it and it works great. I don't find it too cramped or small either. Typing on my lap is OK - but not as comfortable as a normal laptop. I feel like my legs have to be just enough closer together it can be uncomfortable. But not terrible.

Getting back to my first point, I am interested to see how this case holds up over time. I don't have high hopes that it will last two years+. But time will tell.

For the price does not protect.

    • Written by Alan H from COLUMBIA

The keyboard is not a protective device for my new iPad pro! It has slipped out several times and fallen to the floor. No side protection or corner protection. Not good. I like the keyboard similar to my last Apple iPad keyboard. Will probably be looking for a more protective cover. For the price I would expect this to protect better my device better than it does. Perhaps the next iteration.

    Poor protection, poor design

    • Written by Tscharner G. H from Lake Forest

Very disappointed in this case. It offers absolutely NO protection against small bumps and drops. Entirely unacceptable.
    No backlight.
Keys exposed on the back when not covering screen.

    Disappointing

    • Written by Patty J from Indianapolis

I purchased this keypad with my iPad Pro about 18 months ago. About 5 months ago I starting having problems with it and now it is almost useless. After going into the store to have it looked it it was decided to replace my iPad as the connector seemed worn. After one more day the keypad is still not working properly. Now I need to purchase a whole new keypad- it is expensive given the short time it works. Not happy

    Not so Smart Keyboard Folio

    • Written by Michael L from Duluth

I just purchased this product yesterday and it leaves a lot to be desired.
    Pros:
Fit is nice, pencil can be charged wirelessly, magnets were decent (not great but held up to normal use), keyboard felt good without being cramped
    Cons:
No side protection, cheap feeling material, shows every little mark, when folded back the keys are exposed making for a very uncomfortable feel, price point is awful

I ended up returning this and am currently searching for something better. The old keyboard may not have had back protection but they were smart enough to cover the keyboard when it wasn’t in use. I hope Apple comes out with more options in the very near future.

    Cheap Material

    • Written by Randall M from Watertown

The keyboard is functional. However it has some flaws. The biggest one is that the material is cheap. Didn't see this as a problem at first which other reviewers pointed out. However Ive had the case for less than a month and its already starting to tear. Very disappointed.

    Not worth the money

    • Written by Donald M from Gilbert

I was so excited when I receive my new iPad Pro 11. I had high hopes where the keys to revive protection for my new iPad. I was wrong. The case has a couple of flaws. One, no protection for the sides of the device. Two, the case when closing at the magnet that holds the iPad in place is not strong enough to maintain its attachment to the case and the iPad will fall out. So far my iPad has fallen to the ground three times. All I can say is you would be better off taking the money you would spend on this case and burn it. Sorry Apple but it’s time for you to go back to the drawing board.

    An okay keyboard case

    • Written by Kris S from Birmingham

It fits nicely with the iPad as it should since it's made by apple.
The case has kind of sharp edges which is annoying.
Keys aren't backlit, since I've bought this, I've had time to try a few other keyboard options that are easier to type on.
No side protection at all which is probably my biggest annoyance.
The build quality does not seem to justify the cost at all. Feels very cheap.
The keys are exposed on the back when I'm just using the screen on the pad only. The case does come off very easily so it's not a huge deal.

    Mixed thoughts

    • Written by Sam W from Portland

I think the idea of the folio keyboard is great. It attaches easily and offers good protection. I love the typing experience.

However, I am extremely shocked at how cheap it feels. The materials are aweful. Certainly not a premium feeling device. Shocked I spent so much money on an apple item that really does not feel or look the part.

    Functionally fantastic, aesthetically awful!

    Needs a backlight

    • Written by JEFFREY M from San Francisco

Why on earth Apple created this keyboard and did not make it backlit I will never know. It’s a great keyboard as long as you don’t ever need to use it on airplanes at night or in any dark setting. In other words, you will not be able to use this keyboard 50% of the time. It needs a backlight.

    Pretty much perfect

    • Written by Avery M from Essex Junction

I’ve just started using this with the new 11” iPad Pro and it’s awesome. Doesn’t add much bulk or weight, and the keys are easy to get used to. I love the material, too. It seems super low maintenance, and I love that the keys are spill-proof and easy to clean. Also, my personal favorite feature-when you use this in Pages, the bottom of your screen becomes like the Touch Bar on a MacBook Pro, which is super helpful for suggestive typing. Obviously it’s not going to help you out if you drop your iPad, but for anyone sensible it provides more than enough protection in a really sleek package. The stand angles are also ideal for watching things or FaceTiming friends.

Returned it after a couple of days!!

    • Written by David L from Palm City

This cover is not handholding friendly. The iPad Air 2 cover I previously owned was soft, well rounded and comfortable to hold. This one was hard & sharp edged, offered little protection and fell out of the cover a couple of times in only a few day. The trade off for a physical keyboard was not worth the terrible annoyance every time I used it to simply hold and read! I bought the otter box and will wait for the Logitech keyboard cover to be released (soon I hope!). Apple really missed the mark on this one!

    Not worth it

    • Written by Maggie R from Arlington

Not worth the money because it does not protect the ipad - a huge monetary investment - whatsoever. The back magnetic cover is not strong enough and in an attempt to simply pick up the ipad, the case came off and the ipad fell face down on the floor. Luckily only small cosmetic damage was inflicted to the corners of the ipad. I will be buying a different case immediately.

    Easy to type, NO protection

    • Written by Tyler S from Alpine

This keyboard is okay, it is definitely more about form over function as it has zero protection for your iPad. I would avoid this keyboard altogether and get the Logitech one or the new Brydge. They’re both Bluetooth but work better and have way more protection. Apple’s use of the smart connector on the BACK of the device is dumb and not useful whatsoever. AVOID this keyboard as it is overpriced and not protective AT all.

    Cardinal Design Flaw

    • Written by Chris H from Charlotte

If a keyboard case’s design has the keyboard resting on my iPad’s beautiful screen (which will lead to screen scratching through normal use) then the design is a complete failure. This case fails the test. Apple needs to redesign.

    Great Keyboard.... One major oversight!

    • Written by Jason F from STANARDSVILLE

Again, Apple knows how to design things. Very strong magnets and I have had the iPad only drop out of the case once due to my own fault. I love the way the keys feel and I love the tactile response they give back. Being a mechanical keyboard lover for games and work, I feel like this keyboard comes close.

Now, Apple, have you tried to type on this in a darkish room? It’s hard because there is no backlight. My eyes struggle and I then just switch to the on screen keyboard. For what I paid for this, It should have backlit keys and be able to do something else. I don’t know what else it should do but something else at this price point. Due to the fact that it is the only keyboard that uses the smart connectors on the back on the iPad (that I have found), I will not be switching. Apple, your foresight for products is starting to deminish.

This review was typed on this keyboard. Would be 5 stars if it had a backlight.

5 Star Product at a 4 Star Price

    • Written by Robert M from Brunswick

I love this Smart Keyboard Folio (11-inch). It provides adequate protection for me since I also use a backpack and laptop sleeve to transport both my MacBook and iPad Pro 11-inch. After using this keyboard, I am able to type on it quickly and easily with just a short period of time needed to adapt to it. I'm a touch typist and really have no complaints with the typing experience. While the outer case (front and back) are a little plain looking, the folio serves its purpose well. As my review title suggests, Apple could bring the price of this accessory down some. It does seem to be somewhat overpriced for what it is. I can't speak of long-term quality yet, as I've only owned the keyboard folio for a week, but it does seem to be sturdy and wearing well so far. Very pleased with my purchase with only some minor irritation regarding the price.

Great, but with this newest version iPad shakes??

    • Written by AARON P from Washington

I have had an iPad Pro since their debut in 2015, both sizes, all interactions, always with a keyboard/folio combo. Lamented that the original 12” set up - with the full cover that detached from the keyboard, was discontinued, but was a big user and fan of the new keyboard that came up with the 10.5 inch, which I have used avidly since 2017. Recently upgraded to the 11”. I love these keyboards and find them easier to type on than any MacBook keyboard I have, especially the new “butterfly” generation. So now that I have now my 3rd keyboard folio, I am all but shocked to see that THE IPAD SHAKES WHEN I TOUCH IT WITH THIS KEYBOARD!!! Has anybody else experienced this? It has totally detracted from the experience of the folio from the first moments of using it. Basically, when I reach for the screen with the iPad in either position, and tap at all, the entire iPad shakes. It’s like the back support of this case is too flimsily designed. Makes me feel like if I go to an expensive restaurant and sit down and the table wobbles because the legs are not balanced. This is a huge annoyance and I am not sure if this is something I can get used, and frankly I shouldn’t have to! I have combed the web for alternatives to Apple’s folios, even bought and tested Logitech and Brydge and ultimately deemed the Apple the best. This is an amazing disappointment. I hope they will fix this I’d pay another $170, as unreasonable as that is, to get the original Apple keyboard folio experience back. I am curious, anybody else finding this as annoying as me?

    Hate it

    • Written by Carrie V from DARIEN

I really hate this! It provides absolutely no protection along the sides and when you don’t want to use the keyboard and you fold it back your fingers are against the keys! It’s so uncomfortable to hold. And you can’t take it off because then you have no protection at all. It also only comes in one gray color. on my old iPad Pro I had a beautiful lavender cover that the iPad tucked into and it covered the sides and protected it really nicely. Then there was a separate keyboard that attached magnetically. When you folded it back you weren’t touching the keys because they were tucked inside. You could also remove the keyboard and just hold the iPad with only the back cover on it. This is just awful. I feel like if I drop the iPad it’ll fall right out of this cover and crack into 1 million pieces. Really really hate this especially for that price!
