    Worked great...for about a year

    • Written by Mark W from Hayward

I really thought this was a good keyboard/folio case. However after a year, it started going berzerk. Stopped working, only worked occasionally, and also cause my iPad Pro's battery to drain fast. I had to stop using it. Now I am ordering another non-apple keyboard for my iPad Pro. Will see how that one works.

I would stay away from this one, however. It's very expensive (1.5x the price I paid for the replacement) and unreliable. I think it would work better if I had not used it in bed and only used it on a desk or something, but that just doesn't seem practical.

    Steer clear!

Doesn't hold onto the IPAD AT ALL

    • Written by Shannon R from Cheyenne

I was excited to get this for my new iPad, but it has no ability to hold the iPad in place. So essentially, the iPad slides all over it. You can use the groves on the bottom (the keyboard side), but the back of the casing doesn't have any magnets, clasps, ANY way to hold the iPad in place. I needed a keyboard to travel with and not just use in one precarious position. This is ridiculously low quality for this price range and for Apple to carry in general. I don't know how well the actual keyboard works because it is useless to me if there is no way to secure the iPad to it.

    Do The Thing

    • Written by Lexi B from Toccoa

After major research and sifting through numerous reviews and comparisons of this product in relation to third party keyboards, I first decided to go with a bulkier third party keyboard. While it had some benefits like additional protection and backlit keys... it was anything but a seamless experience. The case added a lot of weight that in my eyes defeated the purpose of having a such a beautiful, portable, cutting edge iPad Pro. After only a few days, I returned it and decided to go out on a limb and give this bad boy a go. Putting the case on was effortless and it instantly connected to my iPad. I personally love the look and feel of the case and keys. It’s modern, convenient, and keeps a low and light profile which is essential for a college student on the go. In short - make the right choice the first time around and pick up this keyboard. I was pleasantly surprised and find it to be everything i hoped for and more.

Beats me why all the negative reviews

    • Written by Marvin P from LOS ANGELES

I just bought one for my 11.9 iPad Pro. I liked it so much I went back and bought another for my 12.9 iPad Pro. First of all the keyboard is great. I mean to be so slim and compact it provides a great feel. I’m a touch typist and a harsh critic of keyboards. I did not have any trouble with it whatsoever. Second it’s thin. It’s almost as thin as the folio with no keyboard. So it fits in my backpack nicely. Third it feels well made. I noticed some people complained about it feeling cheap. Not so. It feels seamlessly fabricated. Could I HULK out and rip it to pieces? Sure, but I don’t think I have to worry much about that. Next it works. Automatically. No Bluetooth pairing. It just worked, to coin a phrase. Next I noticed that many people complained about not having keys that light up. I suppose if that sort of thing entertains you it can be very important, but give me a break. The screen lights up the keyboard if you need it. If you’re on the Internet a lot, you’ll find that it can become a big old echo chamber. Most of the negative reviews here echo each other. It’s almost as if there’s a script. I dunno. My only complaint is the price. But that’s Apple. So if you’re considering one of these devices, I recommend ignoring all of the reviews and heading down to the Apple Store. Sit down and try it out. You’ll see it’s actually a well made little accessory.

    A great keyboard

    • Written by John K from Dayton

This is a great keyboard for the 11” iPad Pro. At first I was concerned because it felt a bit more cramped than the standard Apple Bluetooth and MacBook keyboards I’ve become accustomed to, but I adapted in no time. I like that the keys are protected from debris, unlike the butterfly keyboard in my 2017 MacBook Pro and that the back is protected. The cloth fabric would also seem to keep from scratching the screen, minus any debris that might creep in that is harder than glass.

My only wishes are function keys, but I would rather have as full a typing experience as possible, so I think that’s an acceptable compromise, given that I can type very rapidly on it; the only other thing I’d like to see is perhaps a leather option- that would push it over the top, but the silicone is very easy to clean and durable, if a little bland looking.

This is the best keyboard case you can get right now- highly recommended.

    Poor Design

    • Written by Tyler D from Wilmore

I am a salesman, so I am not rough on my device at all. My first Keypad Folio Case got a bubble on the back that popped (best way to describe was like a pizza bubble) and now my second one has busted at the seems. It is a shame we pay $180 for a keypad that cant withstand a back pack (in the laptop compartment) and just hand carrying. Only Pro is the keypad works well.

    So close to perfection

    • Written by Todd W from Hendersonville

I’m not in love with this keyboard folio, but I’m certainly in “extreme like” with it. Pros: The keyboard is awesome, with great, clacky little keys that actually have some travel to them. And the keys are nicely spaced so it’s easy to touch type - so much better than the butterfly keyboard on today’s MacBook Pros. I love how easy the case is to take on and off, it looks nice and clean and slim when closed (like a nice book), and having the keyboard “just work” is awesome.

Cons: It’s definitely expensive for what it is ($99 - or less - would have been much more palatable). The back magnets could be a little stronger (I find the iPad slipping out of the case when trying to change viewing angles). But the one that really chaps me is the exterior material. It’s impossible to keep clean and makes my incredibly expensive and beautiful iPad look kind of tacky. I really wish they’d gone with some sort of durable, textured material instead of this smooth plastic that picks up fingerprints and just general gunk so easily.

But overall these are minor quibbles in a product that’s all but turned my iPad Pro into a full blown replacement for my MacBook Pro. I agonized over the purchase, but I’ve never once regretted buying it (which is more than I can say for my poor, neglected Apple Pencil). Highly recommended (and would be perfect if Apple would just make those minor changes).

    Not the best

    • Written by Ted G from Mesa

It does what it does but it is extremely overpriced for the quality. Mine had scuffs and the material was rubbing off after only 2 weeks of minor use. Very disappointed.

    Adequate keyboard. Horrible case.

    • Written by Derek M from Houston

Buy this case if you don't value your iPad's safety. This case relies on a single magnet to hold the iPad in the case. Meaning, if for some reason the magnet doesn't grab on to your iPad, your iPad will come out of the case and break on your tile floor. Furthermore, Apple will not stand behind their products when they fail and you will have to pay the full 499 to repair the screen. They will tell you the folio is not designed to protect the iPad. Good luck getting them to explain how else to protect it while using this folio, other than buying AppleCare.

Avoid the highway robbery charge for repair. Get a keyboard case that will actually protect your device.

The keyboard itself is adequate and otherwise functions fine.

Keyboard is nice, but offers no protection for 3 sides.

    • Written by ALLEN C from HACIENDA HEIGHTS

Keyboard is functional and thin and now battery needed. But it offers no protection for 3 sides and all four corners. The iPad pops out almost every time when I pull it off the keyboard to close, once it pops out it's thin and slippery and it may fall to the ground (like I did, all four corners are damaged). I regret getting this.

    Just OK

    • Written by Edwin M from FLUSHING

The only problem I have with this case is the price :( other than that I love it! Works so well and it looks much better compared to those on amazon. The Rubber-ish thing is a bit odd I would have loved a leather version for this price and then maybe it would have been worth it.The keys take a bit to get used to but it happens with everything out there. The keys feel cute after using it for a while love the fabric feel of them makes it comfy and fun. Also viewing angles are ok, mostly for desk use which I have no problem with. I would love to give it a 5 star but there’s a couple of things that by now apple should have nearly perfected,

I really wish I never got this

    • Written by Brandon W

This keyboard was so expensive for what is does, Now having it for a few months, I can say that the typing experience is not awful. However, I have almost broken my iPad several times because it does not stay put in the case very well. if you are stationary for a lot of time, then this keyboard may work for you. There are other keyboards that are now available that may be worth trying.

Do not Buy, it will wreck your screen

    • Written by Will H from Wallsend

£179 for the pleasure of having my screen scratched when the keyboard is closed. That’s over £1000 down the drain. A problem that would have been dealt with I’d it was shipped with a screen film or protector but of course the iPad Pro apparently doesn’t need one... very poor deign flaw! Ruined iPad!

Not worth the price (even if cost half what it does)

    • Written by Gary K from Acworth

I bought this for my new 11" iPD Pro because nothing else was available. This is better than the first gen which I had on my original 12" iPad Pro but still leaves too much to be desired to justify the cost. The cover/keyboard sacrifices protection for thinness and lightness. The back does not stay on. Every time I try to fold or unfold the iPad the back pops off. You need bright light to see the keys. I wish I had taken it back and gotten my money back within the grace period. I will be getting the Logitech case/keyboard when it becomes available (with backlit keys).

I'm typing this review with my keyboard sitting on my lap in the dark. No issues with no backlighting (does your desktop have backlit keys?), don’t have a Mac but the touchbar feature is supremely intuitive, and I have no problem with the smaller keys even though I’m a relatively fast typist. So far works perfectly and has a substantial feel to it—I doubt I’d be satisfied with a different vendor’s offerings. Don’t see myself buying a Bluetooth keyboard either. I have a leather portfolio from Saddleback Leather that has a pocket that comfortably holds it, and provides excellent protection for both the iPad and the folio. Check them out if you wish—you won't be disappointed.

Great keyboard — other reviews are overly critical

    • Written by Devon T from Blacksburg

This is exactly what I want in an iPad keyboard. Minimalistic enough to feel like you’re still using a tablet vs MacBook Air, no Bluetooth pairing required, and large enough to be comfortable to type on.

There are also plenty of iterations from the previous design that make this keyboard even better. The back protection is a huge benefit to have. Not only does it provide additional protection for the device, but it also makes the device feel more like the portfolio feeling I like from alternatives. Also, the deeper/more defined wells where the bottom of the iPad rests make for less slipping which is nice.

It amazes me that the reviews here put this keyboard at 2.5 stars and on every other outlet (Best Buy, Amazon, etc...) place the device at 4.5+ stars with even more reviews. I firmly believe that if this exact keyboard had the name “Logitech” on it instead of “Apple,” it would be rated 5 stars easy. Apple products just undergo way more scrutiny than any other base of electronics on the market.

TLDR; Buy this. You’ll be happy with it.

Not sure why some are not pleased with this keypad, how could you not adore a case that not only protects your iPad, but also seamlessly transitions to a keyboard when needed. I love that there is no need to sync up and it just turns on and is ready to go! I am loving this folio!

This is based on the larger version

    • Written by Brian B from Colchester

    The keyboard works.
However it gives no corner protection to the iPad - which gives cause for serious concern.
Because of the design of the iPad I suspect that the previous suppliers of devices to protect the back and corners and allow any brand of keyboard to be attached have been knocked out of the market.

Stars rating based on the lack of protection given and the apparent obstruction to any third party ability to supply a compatible device.

Great Companion to New iPad Pro

    • Written by ROBERT S from Sarasota

I was never a fan of the keyboard solution for previous iPads, but I'm very happy with the new Smart Keyboard with the iPad Pro 11". It has augmented the versatility of the iPad for me, whether I flip the keyboard back for casual app use, have it in "kickstand" mode in my lap, or on the desk next to me at work. When sitting on a desk, I like that you can just tap the space bar and swipe up with instantaneous recognition by face ID. The Folio provides full coverage for front and back, so no worries about scratches when the iPad is in a bag or briefcase. It is sturdy, without feeling too heavy, and the magnets do a great job of both keeping the cover on the iPad and holding the iPad in position when propped up in stand mode. I find I'm using this latest iPad much more than in the past with this new tool.

Disappointing from a protection standpoint, types amazingly well

    • Written by Adam N from San Diego

I bought this keyboard folio less than a month ago, along with my new 11 in iPad Pro. The keys, and typing experience are very good. What is not good is the lack of protection this offers your very expensive iPad. Within the first month, the magnets failed to hold my iPad and it slid out of the folio completely, hitting the floor and putting a sizable Knick in the bottom corner of my 1200 tablet.

Apple is breaking their 14 day return policy for me to take back this inferior product and allow me to try the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard which appears to offer much more protection for the iPad at a much lower price. I am hopeful that it will type just as well and offer more protection to my tablet. The fact that it is less than a month old and has battle scars already is quite irritating.
