Constant connection problems and dropped calls - very disappointed

    • Written by Richard P from LONDON

Ideally I would have liked to switch between my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro using the earphones alone. Unfortunately there's no easy way to alternate the connection. Instead you have to go into the Bluetooth settings on each device to transfer the connection. But even with that, they have to be constantly reset and re-found. They also have a habit of dropping out half way through a call which is very annoying. The connection to the MacBook Pro is consistently dodgy and connects about 25% of the time. I would have expected a lot more from Apple!

    Not Worth the Cost

    • Written by Rasheed G from Newark

Headphones completely stopped working after 2 weeks. Took to apple for repair and no representative there can help you. They shipped out earphones for repair. Got them delivered to my home thinking that they were full fixed only to find out they mailed me back the same broken earphones. Immediately went back to Apple in Short Hills stating that they can't give me new ones would have to send back out for repairs. Would give lower rating if possible.

Volume Issues Drive Down Otherwise Excellent Product

    • Written by Troy F from Paoli

Preordered these and have been using them since they arrived. I have PB2s and 3s and could use them at CrossFit and just about drown out the class music at about 75% volume. The PBPs at max don’t even down out someone talking loudly. I have tried multiple earbud sizes without improvement. Another example is on an airplane. The PB 2s and 3s would drown out the overhead announcements at 50-60%. The PBPs don’t at max. Fit and function are great, but Apple missed the mark with the volume.

sometimes they work sometimes they don't... don't expect apple to fix them

    • Written by Nicholas U from Portland

Purchased in June, the left beat stopped working two months later, for no apparent reason. I spent 30 mins wasting my time on the phone with apple. They suggested I go to the store and talk to a genius. Drove down to the store, waited 30 mins and was told it would have to be sent away to be repaired and it would take a week to fix. When I told the rep that spending $295 on headphones that only lasted 2 months and they don't have the power beats in-store and I have to wait a week to get them repaired was pretty lame. The salesperson was shocked that I wasn't happy. It just shows what has happened to Apple customer service. They just want my money and think their customers should be content with their average service.

    Extremely Discomforting For my ears

    • Written by Mark M from Citrus Heights

IF YOUR GOING TO READ THIS READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW. I bought these a month ago and waited a very long 4 weeks for them to be delivered, only to be extremely disappointed with the outcome. The sound quality is just a pure and clear as the PowerBeats Wireless 3, high bass and high trebles. No problem with the sound quality whatsoever. However, the comfort is nowhere near the same. Putting these in at first felt very convincing, but after about 10 minutes of wearing them, I began to feel like something was prying my ear open. I gave them a week trying out different earbud sizes, positioning the earpiece different, and still the same result every time. I used these for working out, walking around the house, or simply just laying down, and at all positions I was still getting the same ear pain. I even tried wearing these without my glasses for an hour for 3 days, and still nothing. Went back to my old Powerbeats wireless 3 (thank god I still kept them), and wore them and instantly felt a relief of pain from wearing them. Will be returning and getting my money back, very disappointed.

    FINALLY ‼️‼️‼️

    • Written by Prince P from SEATTLE

Background: I’ve tried almost every kind of Bluetooth headphone & Earbud style headphones. My go to has always been Bose.I always wanted a pair of Beats Studio Wireless Headphones but they hurt my ears. Not enough room in the ear cup .All that being said the one thing I’ve always noticed is you can never get the complete package. Either it has great sound but is uncomfortable or very comfortable but bad sound it just seems like nobody can figure it out. Connectivity has always been the weak link!!!!!Up until NOW!!These Pro’s Are AMAZING!! Feel comfortable after a little adjusting and the right ear tips. Connectivity Perfect!!Battery Life Perfect!!The Charging Case Perfect(ALMOST)All you complaining folks saying it’s too big stick to your AirPods!!)Here’s the big one....Sound!!!!It could be a little more balanced... A better overall Soundstage.....tone down the mids a bit. But overall......WE HAVE A WINNER HERE!!! 5 Stars if the sound was a little more balanced and a wireless charging case!!NO REALLY $250.00 and its 2019 Come on Apple Hook is up with the complete package and include a Wireless charging case...Enough said now go buy a pair!!!!!!!!

I'm Divorcing My Jaybird Run and Running Off With PowerBeats!

    • Written by Ronnie B from Waldorf

I just completed my first full workout with these ear buds, and I'm very impressed so far. These headphones were designed for gym rats and athletes alike. They stay comfortably in the ear and never feel like they might get loose or slip out. No matter how far I walked away from my phone, the headphones maintained a strong connection - not a single studder or distortion. The sound signature is another surprise. I've stayed away from Beats due to the punchy heavy base sound signature they are known for. Apple has improved on the quality of the sound with a more balanced sound signature that still maintains it's heavy base pedigree when needed. You won't get the booty shaking base on every track, but you will get a more balanced sound with nice mids and highs. The Apple Eco system is another plus and a good reason to own these headphones if you are an athlete or gym rat like myself. To sum things up, I'm very impressed with PowerBeats Pro. A little pricey, but well worth the price of admission.

Epic music quality fail by Apple/Beats

    • Written by Michael L from Boulder

Airpods do not really stay in my ears when working out. I use the Bose Soundsport Frees for workouts and runs. I was hoping that the Powerbeats Pros would have equivalent sound, better connection, use of either earpod for phone calls and a better looking aesthetic. Unfortunately, never got through the horrible sound quality. The previous reviewer who described the sound as tinny and others that have said that the treble is painful are spot on. I tried all of the different sized ear buds. Tried many different iphone equalizer settings. But the music sound is just awful compared to the Bose. All I can think of is that they were designing the music profile for people that have damaged hearing and lack the ability to hear high frequencies . Returning these. Will try the Jabras or stick with the Bose.

    Great But With Some Cons

    • Written by Andy F from Bristol

I've had the Powerbeats Pro for a week now and overall I've very happy with them. For a start there's all the convenience of the AirPods: charging case so always ready to use, auto-pause, no need for a power button, easy connection to all Apple devices, etc. Sound quality is excellent. Unlike AirPods these earbuds are very secure in my ears and offer much better sound isolation. I can't use AirPods near busy roads if I'm listening to podcasts or audio books for instance.

Although it's mostly pros for the Powerbeats Pro there are a couple of cons. Firstly, the charging case is large. This is necessary to be able to accommodate the earbuds of course. The 9 hours of battery life should mean I don't need to take the case with me, and if I'm going to be using these earbuds all the time I'm out I won't. I do have to take the case to the office though. Even though the Powerbeats Pro would spend most of the day sat on my desk the battery drain when they're asleep (if they are actually going to sleep, I can't tell) is excessive. Based on my tests I estimate that I'm losing 20% power per day when not in use. Hopefully this is a bug that will be fixed in a future firmware update.

Overall, these are still the best Bluetooth earbuds I've used, even with the downsides mentioned above.

    Worked great for 1 min

    • Written by Matthew M from Manlius

I opened the box and they connected as advertised, I placed the pods back in the charging case to recharge them and that's the last time they would ever sync up to my phone or any device again. They are hard broke and I have to send them back in for "repair," I've never had any problems like this in my years with apple, its extremely disappointing to read many other reviews just like mine. The Powerbeats Pro are far too expensive to show up and break within 2 minutes...

Sound Amazing! Especially if you used other Bluetooth earbuds!

    • Written by Gary H from Fort Lauderdale

I’ve read complaints! Really I’m don’t get it! I’m actually surprised how well they sound!
People are talking about the volume range. Not an issue! Use the right size earbuds and you’ll eliminate outside noise and you’ll be good!
When running on the treadmill I can’t even hear the noise of my feet hitting the machine like I’m used to!

It was almost too quite! It felt weird because I’m used to the gym noise with other models.

The bass is on point! Maybe slightly muddy on some hip hop songs.

I sweat a lot and have burned out several Powerbeats 1,2 & 3 headphones on day 1 of a sweaty workout.

So, I’ll have to see how these fair with more workouts. But...so far so good!

    So close...

    • Written by Marlow F from Roanoke

These headphones are growing on me due to fit and finish. They fit really well, stay put, and can be warn for hours without discomfort. Pairing with iPhone is seamless, battery life is awesome, and the case is durable. However...the sound quality is very clear and crisp, too crisp! Given the specs, these headphones have the capability to sound amazing.

Unfortunately, Apple provides no known way to equalize the frequencies highs, mids, and lows. There are some preset settings for Apple Music. Is that it, not other sources? The only additional "feature" that I can tell at this point is truly needed is a way to equalize the sound for the various types of users and music. If I am just ignorant and don't know how to tweak the freqs, please educate me.

Until customer sound customization is possible for all music sources, I will continue to rotate these in and out of use with the dozen or so other headphones (buds, cans, wired, wireless) that I have until I find the perfect pair. Praying for a software update or setting that allows for user controlled equalization...

As an aside, when using the Amazon Music app, the music slows down consistently when the users interacts with the lock screen. Bizarre!

    Delighted

    • Written by Robert K from Macclesfield

I received these a few hours ago. Since that time I’ve made several phone calls and have received really good feedback on call quality. With one “beat” in place it was awesome, and I’d use both if I was somewhere noisy (so that I can hear better). I took the time to try each ear tip and found an ideal fit which also had a big impact on sound quality. I’ll give my Bose Sound Sport to my wife. My son already has my ear pods. If you’re on the fence, get off it and buy some. EQ settings on iPhone work as usual (I’d read that they don’t).

    Best Workout Headphone

    • Written by Patric S from Littleton

Lemme start by saying I am only writing this review because of all the negative reviews I read about these headphones. After reading so many complaints about the sound quality I figured I had to say something. The sound quality is much better than AirPods and only slightly slightly worse than the Beats Studio Wireless. I think many people expected these headphones to sound like every other Beats product where the bass is overwhelming no matter what song you're listening to. Thats where I was pleasantly surprised with these! Almost all my music is very well balanced with slight bass where it should be. But when you put on Rap/Hip-Hop the bass is incredible!!

Ill wrap this up by saying these are the best headphones I have ever used for working out. The sound quality is great, the bass is there when you need it, the comfort is fantastic, the ease of use is incredible thanks to the H1, and call quality is as good as AirPods. I put them through the wringer this last week at the gym and they exceeded every expectation.

The ONLY complaint I have is I do have to listen to them with the volume almost all the way up when using them in a loud crowded gym. Its by no means a deal breaker, its just the only Con I can think of with the headphones.

I highly recommend these to any athlete looking for a great headphone to use while at the gym or while training.

    Flush your ears...

    • Written by Perry K from Laurel

I too at first thought WTF, these sound terrible, where’s the bass???
That was with the ear tips that came on the Powerbeats Pro’s new.
I was at the gym doing what I do or so I was trying to do what I did however the sound leaked, no bass,,
man I thought too myself, these are secure on my ears but where are my AirPods???
When I got home I tried the different ear tips and found one that was a better fit for me as they then
    sealed the ear canal.
The sound was better however, the bass was still not what you would have expected from Beats.
So I pushed the tips a little more into my ears and then I could hear and feel the bass.
However, you do not want to be pushing anything to far into your ears so I thought to myself, maybe
its time to flush my ears again.
Upon flushing my ears MAN!!! these Powerbeats Pro’s came to life....
The bass was perfect, not over the top as some would have you think.
My tip to anyone in the market for true freedom, get a pair, find the right ear tips for you, hook them
on your ears and twist them into place, that’s right twist them into a good position in your ears making
    them properly sealed and enjoy.

Remember, we are get a little wax build up in our ears therefore if something does not sound like you
think it should sound then try clearing/flushing your ears.
    No pun intended!!!

    Already better than AirPods!

    • Written by Nate O from San Francisco

Wow! Finally!! A pair of earbuds, truly wireless, that stay in my ears - and made by Apple!! I bought the latest edition AirPods recently and returned them within 1 hr. These are gold standard and I knew from the moment I opened them out of the box they would be staying. Super easy pairing and all interfaces are optimized for Apple but will work with other devices as well. I know what you’re thinking about the price, but it’s totally worth it. I’m done messing around with other brands and wasting money - if you’re ready for something real that gets the job done and can use for everything - including intense workouts - then quit reading this ridiculously long review and buy you some Powerbeats Pro - Totally Wireless Earphones!!

    Smooth connection, tinny sound

    • Written by Adam W from San Jose

I'm sure I'll get flamed here for saying something negative about an Apple product, but much as though I want to like these (the connection/pairing experience and iCloud sync across to my Mac and Apple Watch is so clever), the sound quality is...bleh. It's super tinny with very little meat to it without cranking the volume to the point that it almost hurts. I flipped back and forth with my old Bose Soundsports (sheesh do I hate that connecting cable) and while the sound on those is muddier, it's far less harsh and so easier to listen to for extended periods.

I guess Apple wanted to "de-Beatsify' the sound by toning down the bass, and in the end the turned the treble knob to 11. My search for comfortable AirPod alternatives continues...
