Q: Can a APFS formatted Thumb Drive be read by a mac running OS 10.9.5?

Because we are doing video work we CANNOT upgrade beyond OS 10.9.5. in our video editing lab, (10.9.5. is the last OS that will run iMovie HD 06.)  These OS 10.9.5 Macs are not networked in any way.   We have other Mac Pros running 10.12.6.  These all have the ability to upgrade to 10.13.  The concern is that we occasionally transfer files from Macs running 10.9.5 to Macs running the latest OS, and vice versa using a thumb drive .   If a thumb drive is formatted with APFS from a 10.13 Mac
