I plug it directly into my MacBook Pro (with native USB-C inputs) and it always mounts properly and serves flawlessly as a Time Machine backup. It is silent, another plus. I tried it with the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter and found that it was not compatible. Also, I have continued to use the Apple power source because the LaCie 8 TB unit does not reliably power the laptop on its own. Nonetheless, a great unit despite the caveats. Recommended.
