  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

It has been plugged into the same outlet for years and I use my MacBook on a regular basis, but don't often take the charger anywhere with me, as I have a separate laptop for work. I've had the laptop since 2012 and I'm using the same cable, but the rubber just split about a centimetre from the part that plugs into the computer.I've put electrical tape on it to hold it together. We'll see how long it lasts. i don't think 6 years is unreasonable for a charger, but having said that, I've had a Toshiba laptop for almost 12 years, runs slow, but still works and I still have the original cords - not frayed at all. For the amount of money, the quality is disappointing.

Wish Apple could take note. Just real upset. And yes, I am an owner of an iPhone as well as an iPad, and mac desktop. Just sad Apple.

Was careful with the first one and very careful with the second one. Rarely take the charger with me and it sits on the left side of the computer so it goes straight in with no bend in the cable yet it failed again. A very poor design and quality. At least Apple could design one with a replaceable cable so you don't have to spend $80.00 for the whole charger.
