    Automatic wireless backup.

AirPort Time Capsule includes a 2TB or 3TB hard drive that works with Time Machine in OS X to create the perfect no-hassle backup solution.1 There are no cables, and you can back up all the Mac computers in your home to a central location — automatically, wirelessly, and in the background.

    Ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Time Capsule gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.2 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Time Capsule now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-setup

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Time Capsule and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-share

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Time Capsule can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Time Capsule. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac specifications. And since AirPort Time Capsule features a built-in firewall that protects your network from malicious Internet attacks, you can enjoy the web with peace of mind.

Took it to the Apple Store who said it couldn't be fixed and would likely stop working in the near future. I did not purchase Apple Care because the product was not likely to be abused. it just sits still on a desk top and does its thing. This product should last longer than a year especially for $300. Definitely, not worth the money.

Forgot that it was on regular backups (which is the point!) and came back to check one day and it hadn't been backing up. Can't get it to backup wirelessly anymore. Forced to use it as a USB hard drive now. Bought it brand new less than a year ago.

This is the worst thing I've ever bought

For the first month or so things seemed to be fine. Then my Time Machine backups could no longer find the 3TB drive - and when I tried to access it from my finder I found it was there, but really slow to access folder, and would often come back with errors saying the drive was no longer available. So I switched off time machine and just used it as a network extender (and bought a cheap - but very reliable external Disk Drive that I plug into my mac). That worked for a couple of months, then I and my family started getting intermittent connectivity issues with the wifi. Sometimes while I was at work the wifi would be inaccessible all day. I tried powering down the airport time capsule and voila! any device that was in range of the other airport express worked perfectly. This is a massive disappointment - considering how overpriced these items are. I think my desire to remain entirely in the Apple eco-system is on the wane. Im off to buy some better/cheaper networking kit, and Ive replaced my new IPhone 6 plus with a Nexus 6P Couldnt be happier

I got one of these newer ones just over a year ago. It died in such a way that it's totally unrecoverable. The Apple Store technicians wouldn't open up the box to get the hard drive out, and my only replacement option was basically to buy a brand new one. I was hoping they would replace the faulty machine since it was only recently past its one-year warranty. They also pointed out that the only way to get 3-year AppleCare on one of these is to buy it at the same time as a new Mac. What happened to the quality the Time Capsules used to have?!?! When it worked, it worked great... so I guess I will give 2 stars instead of one.

      Not like other Apple products

Power cycles and needs to be reset multiple times a day in order to work for about 20 minutes to an hour before repeating the process. Time capsule backups are more of a joke than a functional piece of this device. Between unable to connect or unable to locate disk, it becomes a hassle to back up your device, which was why I purchased this over an express in the first place. I own multiple Apple devices and wanted to bring them all together, however this was a mistake. Also, Apple care is not an option for this device as it has to piggy back off another product (Apple TV, iMac, MacBook, etc.) and out of warrant replacement/repair is $250. I will definitely be looking elsewhere for a replacement, and would not recommend this Apple product.
