  • Overview

The Smart Battery Case is engineered specifically for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6, to give you even longer battery life and protection. The soft microfibre lining on the inside helps protect your iPhone, while the soft elastomer hinge design makes it easy to put the case on and take it off again. On the outside, the silky, soft-touch finish of the silicone exterior feels great in your hand.

Charge your iPhone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and even longer audio and video playback.* With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Centre, so you know exactly how much charge you have left.

The battery case supports Lightning accessories, such as the Lightning to USB Cable (included with your iPhone) and works with the iPhone Lightning Dock (sold separately). Choose from two complementary colours.

Dead After 6 months - just like the reviewer right below me

Amazing that when I came here to write this review, the most recent one posted pretty much mirrors mine - Gerry H's review, that should be right below mine. Amazing that when I came here to write this review, the most recent one posted pretty much mirrors mine - Gerry H's review, that should be right below mine. I bought mine in January 2016, I still have the receipt. Around a month ago it started acting strange. I would wake up after having it plugged in all night, and the phone would be charged, but the case had no charge at all. If I took the case off and charged it separately, it would then take a charge. Fast forward to now, just about 6 months after I purchased it. Completely dead. Won't charge at all. Great while it lasted, but $100 for something that only lasts 6 months? Sorry Apple, you guys missed the mark on this one.

The display of battery levels on both the phone and the case are great. Biggest drawback, and the reason why I am returning it is because of the headphone jack. It is indented deep inside the case, and unless you're using a lame Apple headphone, you won't be able to use it. So I have no way of hooking up my Shure SE846 earphones. Mophie and everyone else has the same thing, but they actually give you an ADAPTER! So lame on Apple for no springing the extra nickel and giving you an adapter.

This case has a hump but better to hold I think also a lot easier in landscape mode. A1 to Apple.

However, after the last several iOS updates, the iPhone sometimes beeps continually while showing a message saying the accessory is not supported by this device. It's an Apple product for an Apple product, and it's incompatible? (It's not the charger, because the incompatibility is reported while using the original charger and cable.) Moreover, I sometimes have to remove the iPhone from this case and re-insert it so that the battery level of the case will be recognized and displayed. Sometimes I have to do this to get the lightning symbol to appear next to the case, even though the iPhone has that symbol showing it's being charged. The power goes through the case to the iPhone, so having the case unpowered while the iPhone is powered is anomalous. Finally, having to pay attention to the working of the hardware is hardly convenient. I'm looking for a cheaper, MFI certified battery case that is less bulky and, I hope, more reliable.

      Awful design poor product

The battery is most o This is a useless battery backup since 1/2 (or more) of the time it does not work. Why don't they have a zero or negative star rating? The battery is most often not recognized by the iOS. One third of the time the phone will not even see the case is connected, another third of the time the phone says "this accessory may not be supported", How True! The iOS sometimes thinks it is a 'Smart Battery Case', sometimes thinks it is an 'A1585', and sometimes an 'Apple Inc.' The battery is supposed to be smart; 1st charge the phone battery, then charging the case battery, then in discharge it is supposed to 1st discharge the case battery keeping the phone topped off (so if the case is removed you will stil have a charged phone), then finally it is supposed to let the phone battery discharge. It Does Not do that most of the time! It will let the phone battery discharge until the phone dies, then after I get the phone charged up to 10% and the phone powered up I can see using the widget that the case battery is still at 98 to 100%. What Good Was Having A $100 Battery Case???? NO GOOD. The mechanical degign of the connectors is very poor. - The connection from case to phone is very flacky. My son has one and his is too. A third of the time when putting the phone in the case the phone there will be no connection made. When a connection is made the connection will drop and reconnect for no apparent reason. I have had the phone beep at me over and over telling me the case is disconnected, then reconnected, then disconnected, ... -- And it will go on for up to a minute sometimes even when the phone is just sitting on a table, not being moved or touched. - The connector for plugging in the power cable is a poor design. It is on a curved part on the case so when the cable is plugged in the cable is subject to rocking and not connecting well. At time the cable can be plugged in and the case will not recognize it (the display will not pop-up showing the batteries). At oother times the display will pop-up showing the two batteries; but sometimes show the case is powered from the cable and the phone is not powered by the case, and at other times showing the phone is powered by the case but the case is not powered by the cable. DO NOT BUY - A waste of money. Try the Mor[phie one instead. Less expensive and I have head from others it works.

    • When does the battery kick in??

      Answer

It kicks in first. The case uses its battery before your phone’s, which I think it way smarter than It kicks in first. The case uses its battery before your phone’s, which I think it way smarter than other cases that simply charge the device. This case is like your phone has two batteries, not one battery being charged by another source.
