Consult Blackmagic's website for supported headsets. Bootcamp is simply not supported, nor is this unit compatible with any version of Windows as of this writing (July 2018).

  • This is exclusively a graphics processing unit. It won't impact support for VR headsets, but I would still recommend using bootcamp, since most VR software is still Windows-exclusive. Launching the into bootcamp with the eGPU can be an issue due to the way mac firmware works, so I recommend reading this article on the eGPU community forum: egpu.io/bootcamp-setup-guide-tb3-macbook-pro/

  • It uses Radeon Pro 580 as the GPU which should meet the requirement for VR headset. However, I did suggest you look up the min requirement on the VR headset website as I am not too familiar with VR headsets.

It does not work on bootcamp.

    From blackmagic design website
Does Blackmagic eGPU works on Windows using Bootcamp?

No, Apple’s Bootcamp software does not currently support eGPUs.
