  • Hi, found your question while searching for another solution. Thought I answer you with my experience.

I am using an iphoneX as well as a MacBook Pro 13 [2017]and MacBook Pro 15 TouchBar [2016].
I use a usb type C to normal usb converter and connect the iphoneX charging cable to the MacBook Pro adaptors.
It works fine, you can fully charge your device in around 90 minutes.

So if you don't want to spend more money buying the fast charging cable, it fine.
Just have a good USB type C to Type A converter.
Connect iphoneX with its original cable.
If you have the 87W or 60w adaptor of your MacBook Pro its should work fine.

    Regards.

  • No, the normal USB Lightning cable doesn’t support fast charging. You need to plug in a Lightning to USB-C cable directly into the power adapter for fast charging to work.
