Consult Blackmagic's website for supported headsets. Bootcamp is simply not supported, nor is this unit compatible with any version of Windows as of this writing (July 2018).

This is exclusively a graphics processing unit. It won't impact support for VR headsets, but I would still recommend using bootcamp, since most VR software is still Windows-exclusive. Launching the into bootcamp with the eGPU can be an issue due to the way mac firmware works, so I recommend reading this article on the eGPU community forum: egpu.io/bootcamp-setup-guide-tb3-macbook-pro/

It uses Radeon Pro 580 as the GPU which should meet the requirement for VR headset. However, I did suggest you look up the min requirement on the VR headset website as I am not too familiar with VR headsets.
It does not work on bootcamp.

Does Blackmagic eGPU works on Windows using Bootcamp?
No, Apple’s Bootcamp software does not currently support eGPUs.
