    Delicious Sound!

    • Written by Philip C B from Long Beach

Our old JBL bluetooth speaker died and needed a quick replacement for the Memorial Day weekend. Thanks to Apple courier service, we had this Sonos speaker the next day. Easy to set up, the quality of the sound was stunning. We hooked up our Pandora service and our household iTunes account via the Sonos app. It's wonderful-we couldn't be happier. And it looks great on the side table.

    Could be better...

    • Written by Aurora B from Peterborough

The speaker itself is amazing. the quality is crystal clear but there are a few bugs that must be sorted out before I would give 5 stars. It lost one star becuse of the fact that you cannot just play straight from AppleMusic you have to go through this whole round about process of downloading an app witch is super annoying. the other star that it lost was because you can't play Netflix or watch YouTube through the speaker. It does not "play everything". I think you can watch Netflix and the like if buy the SoundBar but don't quote me on that. All in all if you are looking to get a speaker to play music and are okay with downloading an app this is the speaker for you! sound quality is amazing! but if you are hopping to do other stuff like watching media I would suggest a simpler bluetooth speaker. I will be keeping this speaker primarily for the sound quality and in hope that it gets better because apparently it "updates".

    Very Limited! Doesn’t play “everything”

    • Written by rama P from perth

These are really good looking speakers and they have a good sound but they are extremely limited. Not worth the hassle of the connection. The connection is sometimes very slow and you keep having to unplug then replug for it to connect, it doesn’t even have an on/off button/switch. If your wifi doesn’t work, the speakers also don’t work... you have to use their own sonos app for the connection to happen. Their youtube app also requires signing up and paying monthly fees. Overall not very user friendly and definitely not worth buying.

    You're buying SPOTIFY

    • Written by Barbara X from Plainsboro

SONOS might as well advertise SPOTIFY PREMIUM on all their marketing deliverables. Would've given the speakers a 4/5 for sound but what good is it if you can't even play your music? There are other options I'm willing to pay an extra $200+ for to actually USE the speakers without limitations in service. These are 100% getting returned. My fault for not understanding the monopoly deal on streaming music.

No flexibility with this whatsoever - this is NOT a bluetooth speaker

    • Written by Anne B from Durham

Asked the clerk for a bluetooth speaker and he sold me this speaker. Bought it in advance of father's day, so no longer can return. You HAVE to use their app to use the speaker and cannot play youtube videos unless you buy the sonostube app (free in app store but you only get 2 days of free). All in all a terrible experience and a very limiting product.

    Such a disappointment

    • Written by Justin G from Narrabundah

So disappointed to get this set up and discover it doesn't run airplay and you have to run your Apple Music through the really basic Sonos App that doesn't then synchronise with the Apple Music app. I wouldn't have wasted the money for such a limited user experience if I'd known. I had mistakenly assumed better integration from something sold via the Apple shop. Good sound but not worth it if you want a good user experience.

    Does Not Work With AirPlay

    • Written by Elliot D from Fitzroy

Wish I had read closer. This does not support AirPlay, so if you want to seemlessly go from listening a my headset to listening on this to listening in another room, it will not work. Need to use the native Sonos app.

    Good sound but no airplay!

    • Written by Demetris V from Toronto

This speaker deserves more stars but its a massive fail it doesn't have airplay! MASSIVE FAIL. I took this straight back for the UE Boom 2. This would work well if you had the whole Sonos setup but you would have to sink a few thousand to make airplay work. I also don't like how I was forced to use Sonos software. Im not changing from iTunes to another software!

Great build and sound quality - BUT THERE IS A CATCH!

    • Written by Rees D from Belconnen

This is not an AirPlay, or Bluetooth speaker. It is as described, a wifi network speaker which requires its own companion app. You're unable to stream directly from Apple's Music App, or youtube etc. You must log into Apple Music via the Sonos companion app which I found to be incredibly laggy.

If you can look past the above, it's a great speaker. I'll be returning mine purely because I need something I can use without the buggy and laggy companion app. Disappointed that this wasn't fully AirPlay integrated (unless of course you're willing to hardwire it directly to an Airport Express or Apple TV).

    Great little speaker

    • Written by David C from HITCHIN

I have had a Sonos wireless system for more than 5 years. I started off with a Play:5 and a Connect Amp, then I purchased a Play: 1. Being smaller and cheaper than the Play: 5 the sound from the Play:1 is not quite so rich as the 5 but it should not disappoint. I love the Play: 1's portability. It can be moved easily from room to room. Just plug in to the nearest electrical socket and within a minute it is ready to go again in the new location. The Speaker feels substantial in construction. It has a number of speakers inside that send the sound in different room filling directions. I have found a Flexon Desk Stand (purchased separately) is useful as it raises the speaker about 5cm up but this is not essential. It can sit nicely on a shelf or can be wall mounted (again a operate purchase of a suitable brakes is required). I have been so impressed I recently purchase a second Play: 1.

    Too good to miss

    • Written by Rita C from Bromley

At £20 off the regular price and with a £30 Apple Music voucher, what's not to like? We literally have these little speakers all over the house, even in the bathroom. Shall probably purchase another one before the price goes back up. The sound is great, especially if they are paired, and they're so unobtrusive compared to the older speakers.

    A nice, premium experience

    • Written by Ryan L from San Francisco

I was tired of my Bluetooth speakers cutting out every time I got a text or call. Especially when hanging out with friends… it kind of ruins the vibe. These Sonos speakers work via Wi-Fi so there's none of that. The connection is rock solid. And the sound is much more deep and rich, compared to my old Bluetooth speakers that were the same size. So this feels like a big upgrade. The accompanying iPhone app works very well and Apple Music streams beautifully.

    Long time user of Sonos

    • Written by Simon T from Kennesaw

I can't fault the system in any way.

I started with two Sonos 1's then added a 3 and a 5 then went the whole way with a TV soundbar and sub-woofer. STUNNING.

Easy to setup and being able to stream Apple Music from your iOS device has really made things great. My entire iTunes library is easily accessible (you could do it before but it was a struggle) with an Apple Music account.

Sound is stunning, setup is a breeze and performance is great. You wouldn't even know it was wireless. Oh and the TV bar, subwoofer and stereo pair work magic on the TV.

It might not be the cheapest way to get a great setup, you do need to invest in the systems. BUT.... great music and great home theater in ONE WIRELESS platform. (Shhh... but I think Alexa might being integrated soon according to Sonos web site)

    Only music, nothing else

    • Written by Stephanie K from Oviedo

The sound quality of this device really is stunning, and this probably would be a great for somebody who wants to use it exclusively for playing music. They even have a neat free set of cool radio stations available if you register the product.

The reason for my discontent is that one of the descriptors "plays everything" is entirely untrue.
The play:1 works exclusively through the free Sonos app. This set up does not allow the possibility of using the speaker to play the sound when you stream Netflix from iPad, Apple TV, or phone. The Ethernet setup is fairly straightforward, but the wireless setup is murder, and after several hours I'm still not able to connect wirelessly.

Again the sound quality is great. And the product is visually aethsetic. But since it does not actually "play everything" I will be returning the device.

Fabulous product that works beautifully with Apple Music

    • Written by LUQMAN T from Plymouth

I've had Sonos products for more than 10 years and have seen it get better and better over the years. I have amplified and non amplified products. My most recent purchases are a Play 1 and a Play 3. I'm now thinking about what combination of Sonos products to put in another room. Apple Music works seamlessly. I'm just now waiting/hoping for Apple HomeKit compatibility/integration. It's the only bit that's missing for me and would give it the final star!

    Great system!

    • Written by Jean-Pierre C from PRINCETON

I have been a big fan of Sonos products since many many years and ended with almost all my rooms equipped with the different versions of the Sonos products with the years. Being able to link your own library or service providers such as Apple music or Spotify is great. Their products and software has become more and more easy to use and powerful. The possibility to play the same music across different rooms without any micro second of delay is fantastic. Their customer service is really great and responsive. It is a bit technical sometimes to set up such a system in a multi-wifi environment (my case) and I still love the product very much after all these years. Got a few Sonos I a couple of years ago. Great sound system, clear and powerful. Bass is very good for the size. I paired one as a stereo in one room. My only regret is that they do not have the line-in plug anymore. But you can beam what you have in your iTunes library on your iPhone very easily, or access it through the music service. Never had any of my ~10 sonos (not kidding) broken or failing. This is a great product and I am a big fan.
