    Latest update is useless

    • Written by Geoffrey W from London

After the update this past week, I can no longer load any of the recorded footage on the SD card. I have two of these cameras with up to date firmware. Only live view works now. A device with the older app version still loads the footage.

Easy to setup, decent monitoring but needs work from D-Link

    • Written by Clarence C from Calgary

For what is worth, this camera does provide easy monitoring with motion detection and alerts. However, I will not be purchasing more to add to my HomeKit setup. If I didn't miss the last return date, I would have returned it... :)

    My Omn has firmware 1.3.

Easy to setup. HomeKit integration. It does work for the most part. Loud and clear speaker when you talk remotely. Audio streaming to iPhone/iPad over LTE is decent.

In the Home app, you get to see a snapshot from the camera. Tapping on it brings you to Live view. *If* you get a motion alert though, the image sent in Notification is not the motion detected snapshot but the last viewed snapshot. (D-Link blamed my home Wi-Fi network for this issue which is ridiculous and inaccurate.) So this makes alert useless (for me anyway) unless you go into Live View.

Even if you are just opening the Home app, the snapshot shown with the "seconds" count up is not the latest snapshot. From my test since I purchased this camera on Oct 20 (today is Nov 18), it usually takes 20-60+ seconds for Home app to display the "latest" snapshot from the camera whether I am at home or away.

The motion triggered video clips recorded to the SD card are only meant to play on iPhone/iPad app according to D-Link support. There is no audio codec for playing on the computer. Video plays fine but without sound.

SD Playback often freezes the Omna app. I have had to power-cycle the camera to continue playback recorded video clips.

I'm sorry but the product is terrible.

    • Written by Jerby Ainsley L from San Juan

The product is difficult to use, I can't connect to it, I can't view the live feed, no guide on the internet could help me, and no amount of restarting or resetting could let me view the live feed from the camera.

I was really excited about this product, I thought I would be getting something premium to replace what my family was using to monitor the house, but in my situation, I know and I've read on the internet that this product works for other people, but in my situation specifically, it is near literally unusable.

The only thing I can view, is the preview screenshot when I open the app, nothing else. I can't update it, can't register to the omna account, all of them just give error messages about not being on the same network, or not being able to connect to the camera itself. My house only has one router, so how can I not be connected to the same network?

The unit also gets hot, like really hot. My family's using like, 3 different cameras, from different manufacturers, with their own different apps and it's not this difficult to use at all. I'm sorry for the bad review, but I really genuinely wanted this to work, for myself, and possible upgrades to the others, and I'm jealous of the people who are not having problems with this, but I'll have to get rid of this camera and look for a replacement.

    Great little cam

    • Written by Stephen F from Grantham

Couldn't be easier to set up, like other HomeKit devices. Very high build quality. High definition video/pics. Good app to support it. On that subject: I now have 4 D-link apps (!) - about time they integrated. Not really a problem as I will mostly use the Home app on a daily basis. Strange that this is about £30 cheaper on the Apple Store than on Amazon. The Eve Smoke is also cheaper here. Anyhow, it's a really nice all-round security camera - and it has a very long, good quality, cable (a gripe I have with many other manufacturers). For the price here, on the Apple Store, I certainly recommend it.

    Simple and high quality

    • Written by Scott W from Auburn

Before I bought this I saw the one-star review that said it wouldn't connect so they returned it. Then I read about what may cause this (very simple search - long wireless network name with apostrophe). So I decided to try the Omna 180Cam HD because it seemed like the best fit for us. Unboxed what looked to be a high quality device (it is), Super simple Apple-like setup. Didn't detect my long wireless network name (default Airport Extreme name). Renamed wireless network. iOS devices automatically picked up the name change, TVOS had to be updated manually. Omna app connected (nothing to change - firmware was already up-to-date) picked up the wireless network name and joined easily. This is my first Homekit device. Made sure AppleTV was setup to use Homekit (it was). AppleTV uses my wifes AppleID so I used her phone to setup a couple rooms, added the camera to a room. Then I invited my Apple ID. Viola! My wife and I can easily use the Home app to check on our dog. It works seamlessly whether we are on wifi or cellular including the speaker/microphone. We've been using it for a month now and I'm considering getting another one which caused me to see the reviews again. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I noticed that it gets pretty warm, I may see about having it turn off while we are at home. Also I think D-Link should have included a small microSD card with it.

    Completely Unreliable outside home network

    • Written by Peter T from KEDRON

If you're looking for a home kit camera, or even a security camera for alerts when you're away from home - this camera is not the one.

It is not accessible outside your home network, which makes it pretty useless as a security device.

Do not buy. Given up trying to get it to work.

    Remote Access Away From Home

    • Written by Ian M from LONDON

Good camera ... but ... if you don't have Apple TV & you want to access your camera remotely while you're away on holiday you cannot take your iPad away with you too.
In other words, you can use your iPad as a Home Hub (instead of Apple TV) but then the iPad has to stay in your property ... see Apple support article support.apple.com ref. HT207057, which states "The device that you set up as a home hub must remain in your home, connected to your home Wi-Fi network, and powered on.".
When I'm away for a few days I typically take my phone & also my iPad with me ... if you don't have Apple TV then taking both your phone + iPad with you means you cannot access your camera remotely ...
You'd either need to a) leave your iPad at home, b) buy Apple TV, or c) buy / use another iPad as a home hub, in order to access the camera remotely.
At least, that's what I'm finding so far ... you cannot simply triangulate phone to Omna Cloud to Camera over the Internet.

i have no problem setting up the Omna. I just followed the instructions! Homekit is sometimes not stable. I use the Omna app on my iPhone and it always works even when i am overseas. I can also view what is recorded in the SD card remotely even when I am overseas and I can also download the clip to my iPhone. Speed of this will depend on many other factors like internet speed. I also get notification when it is set up properly without problem. The wide angle works great. All you have to do is to use two fingers to zoom-in just like viewing image on an iPhone. The video is also quite clear. I am getting a few more.

    Repeated failure to monitor remotely

    • Written by Dr Akbarally L from vancouver

Nice looking camera. Good images. Works fine when HomeKit or the OMNO app being used at home in the local WiFi network. When we step out of the house, after a few minutes or hours, remote monitoring shows No Response...and stays in that mode after that. Yes, we have tried resetting to factor settings, ensured that the WiFi network is fine, the IOS on the phone is 11.3 and up to date. We are using our iPad (latest iOS) as the Hub and that too is set up correctly and stays powered on all the time.

Support has been so slow that we are now past the 2 week deadline to return the Camera to Apple Store. We have other cameras that work beautifully and I am sorry we purchased 2 units of this particular camera.

Is there any trick to setting this cam to my network?
Now I want my money back.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Works Really Well & Increases Home Security

    • Written by David P from MELKSHAM

We wanted a remote camera for the home which enabled monitoring and could link up with other HomeKit items to provide security options. Within 10 minutes of unpacking and inserting the SD card I had downloaded the app, attached it to my iPhone, integrated with HomeKit and setup security options for when in or out of the house. I have no experience of using this sort of kit so followed the basic instructions and all was so easy. Other reviewers moaning about missing features are missing the point - It Does What It Says On The Tin!

    Most intuitive setup

    • Written by Roberto D from Miami Beach

Purchased this cam for home monitoring and it has been the easiest setup for any apple HomeKit product I have set up. Great field of view and the SD local storage is a plus specially with how sensitive home footage can be. I recommend this product to any user looking for home security.

The camera is excellent, but you can't view recordings remotely.

    • Written by Merul P from BRIGHTON

Camera was easy to setup and works well in all light conditions. If you're on the same Wifi network, you can view SD card recordings easily enough, but not if you're away.

This means that when I receive Homekit alerts, all I can do is check a live stream, but not what view the recording that triggered the motion alert. A bit pointless.

    Works fine

    • Written by Jean-Jacques H from CROWS NEST

It's my first Homekit device, and am impressed.
Easy setup, 4 minutes. Came with 1.3 firmware installed for me.
I also have an Apple TV and iPad mini with Home hub, and use iCloud.
Live view over 4G works fine, two way communication sounds fine (actually, better than expected).
1080HD image quality is fine (though could be better, some visible artifacts).
Didn't want cloud storage, and associated subscription, so microSD storage is fine. Use it as pet cam.
Only takes low resolution images, and video files seem to be around 1.7MB to 2.4MB, on the short side (30 sec). Maybe wish it would auto-append them.
Am not getting any motion detection notifications though. But as pet cam I don't mind.
Omna app is ok. Some technical popups showing up when login seems slow. Like the feature of reading the video files on the SD card, and transferring them to phone. Overall pretty happy (so far).

The most useless camera you can own!

    • Written by Hua Wey Martin T

I bought this product and set it up using my iphone X and it worked really well and the picture is really clear and good but as soon as i download the Omna app on the other iphone for my partner to access the camera at home, there's NO WAY at all the camera would show on that same Omna account I have logged into on the other iphone. It just shows no camera set up and its only as if its good on ONE iphone where it is being used to setup the camera. What's the point of having that camera if it cannot be shared at all to allow other members of the household to view what's happening at home?? Totally stupid and useless!!

    connection problems

    • Written by alexei K from montreal

Some useful info for people who can't connect the cam.
    - If you're using timed access based on your devices' MAC addresses, the camera will not connect
    - If you use DHCP with fixed IPs or fixed IPs only, it's likely not connect

Solutions: (1) Sacrifice your MAC filtering (that's what I did - set "Everyday-All Day" access ON) and (2) let it connect to the first IP it finds itself (this may eventually lead to IP conflicts on your LAN but you may try to extend your IP range to minimize impact).

I'll try to figure out how to let it connect with MAC filtering at least. I'll post if I find a solution.

    Can't upgrade firmware 1.3

    • Written by Dung B from Singapore

Recent days it popped up a note told me to upgrade firmware to 1.3, after I pressed ok it took forever to complete downloading. Thanks goodness after cancel upgrading it still work with 1.0 firmware. Hope D-link will fix this soon for Android version only works with 1.3 firmware.

I use my ipad as homehub, sometimes my 2 year old son turn off bluetooth / wifi on this ipad and then I cant access remotely.

In case of eletricity off and then on, my wifi router and all devices restart, and their wifi IPs may change or conflick, only reconnect my Ipad to wifi network could help the camera work again.
