    30 Pin Adapter is JUNK

    • Written by Paola F from Arlington

I bought this adapter for my car, I decided to buy an Apple product to avoid the usual " This device is NOT compatible with your Apple device" But after a year, it suddenly became INCOMPATIBLE. I want my money back!

    No longer works on OS11

    • Written by John L from Toowoomba

This device now generates a "device not compatible" message when plugged in, and is no use for any kind of data transfer. It is an Apple product, but doesn't work on the Apple devices for which it was designed!

    Doesn't work with latest update

    • Written by Abigail G from Blandford Forum

I bought one of these in June 2017 in order to play music in my car. I used it for both my iPhone and iPod. And for 8 months it was fine. But in February 2018, Apple released the 11.2.5 update, and as a result, the adapter is no longer compatible. Sadly it has affected both of my devices. So if you are using a device on IOS 11.2.5, do not buy this as it will not work!
I have spoken to Apple, who have told me that the manufacturer has not yet released an updated version of the adapter that is compatible. They can't guarantee that the manufacturer will, but sadly it is beyond their control. It is such a shame as I used this almost every day before, and 8 months after spending £40 on this, I can no longer use it.

    Worked great, but...

    • Written by Lauren P from Dothan

This works great then after a year maybe slightly longer, the plastic on the top part started to crumble. If it had shorted out my phone I would’ve been very angry. An apple product breaking another apple product, not so good Apple.

    Waste of money

    • Written by Peter K from Prestatyn

I bought this for $39 to use on my iPhone 6 Plus to play my Apple music in my car. it worked for about 9 months then just a few weeks ago it stopped working. It now say device not compatible and prevents me from connecting my phone to my car stereo. WTH? For no apparent reason Apple just decided these wouldn't be compatible.

    Works with my car stereo

    • Written by Patti U from Glendora

I bought one of these cables years ago because I needed an adapter for my car. I had a direct line-in installed in my car so I could play my iPhone through my car stereo. (No auxiliary jack back then in the 2004 Prius.) Back then the iPhone used a 30-pin instead of lightning, and I could charge and play music at the same time. When I got a new phone, I needed a lightning to 30-pin adapter. I bought this exact one, and I have had it probably for about 4-5 years. It still works, but the cord is frayed. It has never charged my phone, but it plays music through my stereo. I bought cheap adapters online, but they would not play audio and they were extremely flimsy. I ordered this one, and it is exactly the same as the one I've been using for years. It plays the music but doesn't charge, which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. This one has a much sturdier cord than the others I have tried to use.

    Overpriced, bad product

    • Written by Kyle A from Wethersfield

I recently bought one of these and within 4 days it had broken on me because of the fragile lighting plug snapping off, I shouldn't have to handle a 40 dollar adapter with velvet gloves.

Not Durable/The Wire is Too Short

    • Written by Greg L from Stanhope

I bought my first Lightning to 30 pin adapter when I bought a 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. I have used the cable successfully for around a year and a half and now the cable casing has split exposing the wires. I will have to replace it soon as I am sure the cable is going to snap. For the price of this cable it needs to be more durable. As others have said, the cable is too short. I have also experienced the car stating it does not recognize the device. I am not sure if it is the cable, the car, the device, or a combination of the three. After turning my car and/or the device off and on I have always been able to get it to work. My overall complaint is, if you are going to charge stupid money for a product it should be built to a more sturdy level.

    Great however its too short!

    • Written by Grant B from Washington

It does what it says really but the cable is really short and theres no Apple lightning extension cable so its not great if you need it to reach somewhere else.

I use this on my life fitness running machine but the cable needs to be longer without causing stress or at least apple should bring out a certified extension cable

    play (not charge)

    • Written by Catrina K from Karratha

I needed an adaptor for a sound sytem in the car that (stupidly) had a 30 pin industrial looking cord (connecting in behind the dash?)
This works to play newer devices which is really awesome.
The only negative thing about the cord is that it wont charge as well. I was screaming with delight that I could play my phone music.
Then I slumped into depression that it wont charge & go flat whilst travelling. Come on Apple, please step up all your products as they need to be completely unfaultable in performance! lost 2 stars for not charging.

Will work with iPod car kits with old 30-pin connection

    • Written by Nilesh T from Burnaby

This is the only adapter that is compatible for cars with iPod capability using the old 30-pin connector. The adapter will allow newer model iPhones to charge, connect to the car seamlessly, see track listing on the car display, and control music (even Spotify) through the steering wheel.

    Apple Adapter Works Fine

    • Written by Thomas M from Lakewood

After two years of use, this adapter continues to work well. Cable's short length is just right for my needs. It seems expensive, but so are textbooks; such are the ways of economics.

    Works as expected

    • Written by Rajeev S from Doncaster

I bought this to allow me to connect my iPhone 6s to the old style 30-pin connector in my Audi. The cable allows all functionality including pass-through music, artist and title display with full control through the steering wheel controls.

The only downsides are that it is about 10cm too short to be really useful and it's very much on the expensive side for what it is.

    TO SHORT

    • Written by Lucian S from Irvine

I love it, works great no problems at all. Why did you make it so short?!?! APPLE give a choice to buy a bigger one. Way to expensive for 20cm of cable.

    Premature failure

    • Written by Tom S from Stittsville

I bought this cable to use with an old Belkin FM transmitter in my van. The 30-pin end of the transmitter and this cable sit on my van's console and are gently handled about twice a day. The combination worked great for 113 days. While driving and listening to a podcast the transmitter just shut off. The iPhone was still being charged but it wasn't talking to the transmitter. I tried all the usual trouble-shooting steps of replugging the 12V, replugging and even reversing the iPhone end, replugging the 30-pin end, restarting the iPhone. Nothing worked.

Removed my iPhone case and used a lightning to 30-pin dongle (no cable) and it worked fine, so it wasn't a problem with the transmitter. This cable had failed just sitting on my van's console.

Tried using it in a Sony clock radio designed for 30-pin iPhones and it worked. So somehow, something in this cable decided it wasn't going to talk to the Belkin transmitter anymore.

Fortunately, it's still under the 1-year warranty so I'm going to get it exchanged at the Apple Store. It's a $50 cable. It should last more than 3.5 months of gentle use.

You Must Have! Buy Now Price Keeps Increasing!

    • Written by JAY O from Roselle

This cord is a MUST if you have the older 30 pin Apple products like I do. I have some older phones, the latest generation iPad that used the 30 pin cord as well as iPhone 6s and a later iPad with new Lightning charging connector. I have a number of older cords, AC as well as 12V car cords with 30 pin end, as well as straight Lightning charging cords. I bought 3 of 4 of these adaptor cords directly from Apple when the Lightning style products were introduced. It's been awhile since I've purchased the adaptors so I don't recall the pricing but I'm pretty sure it wasn't $29! I bought 4 or 5 of these from Apple and I'd have needed to take out a mortgage at these prices. (Don't buy those little plastic direct converters! They will break easily! It's better to have some flexibility in between the connections. AND even the factory Mini USB-Lightning plastic converter is worthless as well. I've tried them all.) I hear quite a few people crying about bad cords from Apple, but I've never experienced a bad OEM cord, but I don't pull AC cords out of my wall from 3' away. All of this equipment is rather light duty and require sensible handling. I've got a number of them and they all hold up. It's the off brand cords that either don't work or don't last long.
Bottom line is that these adaptors are with me everywhere and it would be a nightmare without them. The convenience is beyond belief and I'm purchasing 4 more now for a friend of mine that was just introduced to Lightning equipped Apple products. They make GREAT Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. Get one and you'll be singing their praises as well!

An overpriced accessory with limited application

    • Written by Ali Yusob M from Jitra

Bought this thinkig it could be used with the 30-pin VGA/HDMI adapters, but all are not compatible. The only thing I am able to use is the 30-pin charger. It is a waste of money buying this. Zero star, but forced to give a 1-star rating.
