    The lightening digital AV adapter is not working with my iphone 8 plus . (it used to be working, but suddenly it does not)
    mean while it still work with the iphone X of my Friend!.. but the landscape/portrate orientations are not reacting to the positioning of the phone.
    so frustrating...

    Works w/ No Problems

    Just got this today, 1/9/2019, and plugged in the power/hdmi to the adapter, then to my ipad. My ipad (2nd gen 12.9" on iOS 12.1.1) recognized it and displayed to my monitor and TV with no issues at all.

    Stopped working

    0 stars if I could! The adapter was working great and we were enjoying watching movies on the TV at our cabin. Then it just quit working last month. I guess that it's the same problem as everyone else - the software upgrade. Come on Apple! This is unacceptable!

    Only works if I power it

    Only works if I power it - doesn't work with only XDMI connection to TV and adapter connect to iphone

    I do not want to use it to do movies - just display website activity from my iphone

    I do want to avoid having to connect the adapter to power.

    adaptor quit working with iOS 12 update

    Very diasappointing!!! I hope Apple will fix this issue. After the iOS 12.1 update our Lightening Adaptor quit working. It’s very aggravating to spend the money on an expensive device like this and do a software update that causes the device to be useless!!! Apple please fix this issue!

    Works perfectly as announced

    I was hesitant to buy this adapter at the begining because of a lot of a bad reviews but I went through and baught it.

    The adapter works like a charm and as announced, it mirror everything on the screen and broadcasts Netflix as well as youtube and the movies on my apple devices

    I tested it on iPhoneX (IOS 12.1.2) and my Ipad pro 10.5” (IOS 12.1.1)

    There is no lag in the transmitted videos and audio and video works perfectly. There is no need for the power cable to be plugged in (it is optional and the adapter works fine without it)

    Don’t try and buy cheap knockouts that need to be charged (they will just ruin your battery on your device and will never work like the genuine part from apple (although it is pricey, but worth it)

    I wanted to share my opinion since there is alot of biased opinioned against this adapter and they are false

    Solution: This Works ;)

    AVG Adapter working properly after ios12.1.2 update
    I was able to speak w/a Very Helpful Apple Tech and after much trial and error before speaking to him.. I'd almost given up. Grateful I Did't..

    1) Plug USB Cable into TV
    2) Plug USB Cable Into AVG Adapter
    3) Plug AVG Adapter Into Iphone's lighting port
    4) Power On TV set proper input eg. If USB connected to Input 3 select Input 3 on TV settings
    5) Leave Iphone Connected to AVG/USB Do Not Disconnect, but Turn Iphone All The Way Off/ Completely Power Iphone Down
    6) leave Iphone Powered Off for Several Minutes.. No More Than 5 is needed
    7) Power Iphone Back On While Everything Is Still Connected
    8) When phone is powered back on It will most likely prompt You to enter pass-code If You have set up lock screen
    9) Go to a site such as Netflix/ Hulu/ Youtube and select a Video.....PLAY!
    10) This Should Resolve ios.12.1.2 Glitch and You are Now Good To Go!
    Think Of It Like The Old PC Tactic of; Turning Your Tower All The Way Off.. Then All The Way Back On.. Like A Basic ReBoot ;)

    After iOS 12 Apple Lightning AV HDMI adapter totally useless

    As many others have noted here, this adapter no longer works under iOS12. I even bought a replacement, and it similarly fails. That will be returned for a refund .

    The device was thoroughly tested by a competent user with iPhone 7/ iPad pro with currently latest iOS 12.1.2 and various HDMI devices and cables, definitely a driver/software issue with iOS12. Until iOS12 this was working fine with our HD projector and other HDMI devices - after iOS 12 not at all.

    Very disappointing.

    I add my review here to increase the numbers of negative reviews and highly frustrated customers in the hope Apple will fix in next update.

    The issue is further augmented by apple support answers on this topic limited to 'try a different cable' etc. Please direct these posts to the Apple development team for action and advise users who have reported the issue, if and when it is resolved.

    There is, unfortunately, no lower review than one star. Until this official, Apple accessory was evidently deemed no longer supported by iOS (or perhaps not included in the iOS pre-release testing programme) the item was fair but imperfect image quality, and generally and over-priced item.

    I brought it and then the IOS upgrade ruined it! The upgrade no longer allows me to see a picture on my television. I think I’m going to be done with Apple products soon. Every time there is an upgrade the gadgets you buy don’t work. The amount of money being spent on your products and the service and quality is starting to go down is really terrible.

    AV adapter no longer working with new update

    I would’ve gave this adapter 5 stars 2 weeks ago, but ever since I updated my iPhone last week, it no longer works. Sometimes will have audio but no video, sometimes I’ll get video for a couple minutes until it freezes. Hope there’s a fix in the pipeline

    AV Adapter does not show full screen

    This adapter was working fine on my iPhone 7 with iOS 12.0. I was able to see full screen HD on my tv.
    Now with the iPhone XR and iOS 12.1.2 I do not get full screen video. Also happens with iPad 10.1" and iOS 12.1.1.
    Been in contact with support and they created a case - hopefully we can get this problem resolved.
    I understand the frustration as I too will have the occasional need to do presentations and if the video is truncated it is a bad experience for all.

    Like other people have said, this quit working along with the new update. Thanks a lot Apple, I bought this just for watching movies over the holidays and now I feel completely ripped off! Do Not buy this AV adapter until Apple can figure it out. Garbage!!

    Defective (even after a warranty swap)

    For £49 this is daylight robbery. The adapter didn’t work the first time I used it as the picture quality kept flickering. I then got it swapped under warranty and now a different type of flickering happens. Both adaptors have been defective, even after changing the HDMI cable to a better quality one to verify it wasn’t that. I’m very disappointed. I don’t blame people for buying cheap/fake adaptors now.

    Works for me!

    This device (ours is a Model A1438) works with every iOS device (iPhones, iPads) and every video output device (TVs, monitors, projectors) we've ever tried it on, for years. The latest iOS I'm using is 12.1, with no problems. Video is clear, sounds comes through great.

    You don't need to plug a power source in to the Lightning jack; it works fine just plugged into the iOS device with an HDMI cable plugged in to it. That's an advantage over many other such adapters.

    Lightening Digital AV adapter

    This was working fine, then along comes an upgrade and it can no longer stream. Apple, fix this problem of your making or reimburse everyone who has wasted their money on your device. Shameful behaviour, software should be tested in development before release, standard IT protocol, very unimpressive

    Since the IOS 12 update, we have been getting service calls from corporate clients about their Apple adapters in their conference rooms being broken since none of their devices work anymore.
    These people are not happy when they have to pay for a service call to be told it’s a vendor firmware issue!
    Apple, get on this because it’s also affecting your Educational market, and you need all the market share you have !!!

    Currently these do not work with IOS12. At all. End of story.
