I think only snobs are giving less than 4 stars

These in-ear pods have the best clear and almost uncolored audio feedback I’ve ever heard. No lack of bass or overdriven bass, mods are crystal clear, and highs never hurt my ears. If you start to use them properly with gradually increased volume, membranes will never fail or resonate erroneously.

I use it for crucial mixing and -hold-on(!)- pre-mastering on the road, before entering sound studio.

Highly recommended to those who like clean, not colored transparent sound. This will show you if a track is worth nothing.

    Poor Quality

I used to love your earbuds, but the quality has dramatically decreased over the years. I will have brand new earbuds that break in less than 2 months, where the earbuds have no visual damage to the cord. I believe this is unacceptable quality for an Apple product and it makes me question the quality of other Apple products on a go forward basis.

    Microphone/controller breaks quickly

I'm on my second pair, and after 3 months this pair has stopped working. The previous pair lasted about a year. The microphone/remote control piece just stopped functioning for no reason. I can still listen to music, but I can no longer forward or pause or turn the volume up or down. This is the same malfunction as the last pair. I will never buy these headphones again when I can get comparable quality from a cheap set of Panasonics.

    They're so good for me

They're so durable. I use them to hear music, on calls, to take pictures remotely with the buttons and mostly of all, to hear while I play the drums. I hear with them all the notes that the other musicians are playing and singing, i really like them because of the noise reduction. I can hear my own playing, but in a comfortable way, because i need to play louder than I want and the drumset is in a tiny, closed space. They come with 3 sizes of lavable silicone buds, the standard headphones that are included with the celular phones, are so hard and big for my ear size, but I feel very confortable with this soft medium silicone buds. The small ones are great for kids! If I lie my head on my side, they feel great in my ears, I know they won't hurt me. They have great sound with those 2 special components on each bud [subwoofer and tweeter], I love to hear the bass and bass drum with them, I need to hear those sounds. I have used them about 1 and a half year, like 4 times a week. They were a great gift to me! :)

    Corded Headphones

I just upgraded to an 8 and I decided to use the headphones at the gym today. AWFUL. I had the volume turned all the way up and I could still hear the gyms music. Which honestly isn’t even very loud. I’m standing on the treadmill holding my hands over my ears to hear DRUM AND BASS music. Unacceptable. These will be going straight into the trash where they belong. Back to my $5 earbuds which work 100000% better. Come on Apple...I expected better. Overpriced JUNK.

Fantastic sound. Benefit from Comply foam tips.

I’ve had these ages and found the sound excellent providing you have a good seal. This can be hard with the silicone tips, but the aftermarket Comply Whoomp tips sort this out. The price is also pretty good for a dual balanced armature setup. Compared to the Shure se425 which is over twice the price they deliver comparable sound.

Great fit and sound, but no lighting connector

VERY comfortable in the ear, fits much better than the ones (egg shaped) that come with the iPhone. I have had 2 sets over about 5 years, (one at home one at work). APPLE: please make one that connects without the lighting adapter...directly into the new phones: 8, or 8 Plus.

    Excellent fit and performance

I don't understand the bad reviews on this product. I would have thought they would mostly complain about the price, which is, a bit high since I lose them way too frequently. I prefer these in-ear headphones because the $29 ones that come standard hurt my ear as they do not fit. These fit exactly and block off ambient sound. They are so nice that I use them on the plane, and 1 in my ear in the car - so that I can hear sounds outside from the other one. Apple provides extra sizes (S and L) as they ship with M installed and may not fit your ear. Try to get the right one to get a snug fit to maximize sound quality. Reasonably hardy as they have survived being pinched in the car door. They tangle easily, so get a little bag for them. These are my favorites and I use them for both all my Apple products. I am not an audio expert, so I can't speak for the quality - but they beat every other one I have tried except my ginormous BOSE noise cancelling headphones.

    deeply disappointed

I used the previous version of the headphones and was very happy with the quality but they did not hold very well in the ear especially when doing sports. Therefore I put these in-ear headphones onto my wishlist and I got them as present.

They sit very well in the ear. Wearing them is cofortable also in bed laying on one ear. They do not fall out of the ear doing sports.

Unfortunately the sound quality is horrible. For a phone call they are fine but listening to music or watching a movie with them is really no fun. Sometimes I have the feeling that I am sitting in a tin.

I am very disappointed. I am also disappointed with the quality of other recent Apple products, but this is a different story.

    Very Disappointed

I had read varying reviews of these and really needed some headphones that would work my phone. I have a pair that have a microphone/pause button attached but I can't skip songs unless I pull out my phone and do it manually on the screen. When I ordered these, I loved how comfortable they were and how good the sound was. They also did a good job of isolating outside noises. I've barely used them since I got them, though. After a week of using them maybe once a day for a bit of music during chores, the right side earbud stopped working. I cleaned it and replaced the mesh cap with the replacements provided, and that seemed to fix the problem, but less than a week after that, the same problem happened again. I replaced the cap again (since I still had a spare leftover) but it didn't do anything. All that comes out now is a little bit of crackling or static if I move the cord around to see if it helps. I've had these for less than two months and am extremely disappointed with them. I can't believe Apple is charging so much for such poor quality earbuds. The pair I bought from Walmart that don't let me skip songs still work better than these and I've had them for almost two YEARS, and they only cost me $12. Lesson learned, I suppose.

Necessary alternative to hard non-isolating buds

I cannot rightly comprehend why Apple deliberately moved towards hard earbuds that don't form noise-isolation vacuum seals a la earplugs. Without noise isolation, the volume must be significantly increased to drown out background noise, and without a vacuum seal, the earbuds can fall out of the ear.

I got my first pair of these (possibly an earlier model) when the original hard Apple earbuds came out ~5 years ago and they finally died after thousands of hours of gym use. I am happy that Apple has continued to provide a 'soft, isolating' alternative to its hard buds.

    Shocking experience

I am not sure if others have had a similar experience but when I use these for conference calls sitting at my desk whenever I move I actually get a shock inside my ear from the ear piece. Is it not very pleasant to get shocked in your ear! I would not recommend these for the money. If the normal Apple ear buds actually stayed in my ear I wouldn't have spent the money on these. You can get the same quality sound without the shock in your ear from Skull Candy and other ear buds.

    BEWARE: Silicone Ear Piece DANGER

One of the silicone ear pieces came off and worked its way deep into my ear canal. It caused pain, inflammation, and hearing loss (that I hope will return to normal). IT HAD TO EXTRACTED WITH TWEEZERS. My ear canal is still sore and inflamed, and my hearing level is limited. BEWARE..

The people giving these low reviews aren't using them correctly

While it's obvious that it's much easier to get good sound out of the stock earbuds, I think that the sound from these is ultimately better. Here's the trick: while the earbuds have their own built in resonance chamber, these use your ear canal as the resonance chamber. In order to get the high fidelity sound and full, crisp bass response, you practically have to have them inside your ear. It's why I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. They just aren't very good "walking around" earphones because it's too hard to keep them well positioned if you're moving. While sitting at a desk, with the earphones properly positioned, the sound is glorious. Also these won't make your ears hurt for days after an hour of use like the earbuds. In fact, I wear them for up to 8 hours a day while I work and don't experience any pain at all. Just make sure you keep your ears clean ;-)

I wish they would make these wireless instead of those terrible earpods

These headphones are the best, most underrated apple product. I don't understand most of the low reviews as my experience has been amazing. The bass is nice, the sound is clean and crispy and the silicon tip fit, once you find the right size, is great. I have had two pairs in the past 8 years (the first pair was destroyed on accident, not an product failure) and I've had my current pair for 3 years and still love them. Two small complaints I have is 1, they need to make a pair with the lightning adapter, I have mine tied around the one that comes with the phone. 2 I have to super glue the silicon tips on, otherwise they come off way to easy. Once I glued each one though I've been golden.

I fall asleep with these every night of my life

I love these headphones. Love. They are more comfortable than anything else on the market, and I use them as earplugs every night so I can sleep through whatever happens in my apartment building. I don't sleep well without them now.
PLEASE APPLE: make an Airpods version of these, AND a lightning connector of these. I'll buy both and maybe 2 of each so I can have backups like I currently do of these headphones.

    VERY poor quality sound!

I got these thinking they would be a step up from the stock earbuds I get with the iPhone, but WRONG. Sounds like I'm listening to music out of a tin can. While they are very comfortable, the sound quality is close to a dollar store pair of headphones. Absolute sh&t, for lack of a better word. Avoid at all costs.
