Quality of Apple products has worsened

    • Written by Tahreem K from London

Was hoping that the negative reviews were just one-offs, but I was left sheerly disappointed with the quality of these fairly expensive earphones - they’re made of really cheap quality plastic and the sound kept cutting off when put my phone in my pocket ON THE FIRST DAY OF USAGE.
2 stars instead of 1 for good sound quality and speedy delivery, but do NOT buy this product because you will be left with a very overpriced pair of ridiculously poor quality earphones.

Went to plug in old headphones in to XR and.... oh yeah, no 3.5mm socket. Have been using these while waiting for an adapter to arrive and although the bass is good the comfort is lacking and the noise isolation is very poor. Good stopgap but I wouldn't spend almost £30 on them.

    Could be Better

    • Written by Shaniece P from Worcester

I purchased a replacement set of earpods three weeks ago. Since then, I've had multiple instances where the music/audio would pause as if the EarPods fell out (even though they were still connected/plugged in). Most times I would press play (second instinct) and the music or video would blast from the speaker even though the EarPods were still connected!! This happens both with my iPhone XR & iPad. I haven't had these EarPods for a long time and now doubt the more expensive alternative would function better. I haven't had these for very long and worry this problem may get worse.

Priced too high for bum product

    • Written by Rosa J from Stone Mountain

I got these earphones in December but are now just using them in July. Freshly opened pack and the mic doesn't work. It's too late to return them so I'm stuck with a bum pair that costed $29.00. Next time I will go back to Amazon and purchase the cheap ones that way I won't be surprise when something on the earphones doesn't work.

    Only lasted 6 months

    • Written by Millie E from Stotfold

5 months and a 3 weeks after purchasing these earphones with an iPhone XR, the left ear stopped working and would not produce any sound. A week later the next ear stopped working all together. I am very disappointed with this product as the warranty stated this product would last a year.

    Great but Break

    • Written by Ben S from Ellensburg

These are probably the best sounding earphones on the market. However, they will break after a month of being in your pocket. This is my 4th pair this year and I feel ashamed that I keep giving Apple money.

    Cannot Recommend

    • Written by Ollie C from Keizer

As a loyal Apple customer, (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, etc) I unfortunately cannot recommend these. I have three problems with them.

    1. Poor Connectivity. I understand that these are great if you only have an iPhone 7 or later, but I have an iMac and MacBook Pro for work and school, requiring me to carry these for my phone, and regular EarPods for my computer. I know I can just use the dongle, but I will discuss this in issue #3.

    2. Cheaply made. This may be an isolated case, but on both pairs of Lightning EarPods I have owned, the volumes controllers failed, and over time, the audio quality drops significantly. My regular 3.5mm EarPods never had this issue, and still sound great after years of use.

    3. The adapter is stupid. While the 3.5mm to Lighting adapter was a brilliant move for Apple money wise, (as I have spent $40+ on replacing lost or failed dongles this year alone) It really is stupid when you look at it. If you take apart the iPhone 7, You will find that the area where the 3.5mm jack should be is empty, meaning Apple easily could have left it alone. Also, 2 of the 5 dongles I have purchased either didn't work or failed very quickly. The other 3 were either lost, or quit working after several months of use.

For these reasons, I cannot recommend these to anyone, I think the AirPods or any bluetooth headphone are better than dealing with these or the dongle.

These aren’t bad earbuds per say, they do fit in my ears pretty well, and they sound pretty decent too. I’m just not happy to pay $30 for a pair of earbuds that aren’t even really worth the price, especially when Skullcandy earbuds are about $12-ish less expensive and have comparable noise.

    Stopped working

    • Written by Alyssa B from Maleny

The earphones were working fine for a while and then after using them for 4 months they just stopped working. I took good care of them, I only ever really took them to school and there’s no outside damage. I have no clue why they stopped working. I can’t hear the music no matter how loud the volume is. I also used the earphones with another phone to see if my phone was the problem, but still no sound would come out.

    Only lasts a few months

    • Written by Jason T from Keller

I have to buy several pairs of these a year because they go out every few months. I use my earpods a lot to listen to music, audio books, and take phone calls. After a few months they always start glitching out. They will begin randomly pausing or starting my music, or skipping chapters in my book. If this doesn't happen, one side will stop working. They work great when they work. But for me they have a very short lifespan.

Good music quality but it literally broke in 3 days

    • Written by Zi Yue W from Te Aro

I unplugged the earpiece from my iPhone and the metal part of the connector broke off from the cable,, it was only my third day using it and I'm so heartbroken.

But music quality is really good, bass sounds strong.

    mediocre at best

    • Written by colgate T from Palm Coast

i got a pair of these when i got my new iphone 8. they sounded fine and dandy until few months later, to which they've begun to glitch (i've taken an immense amount of care to these). when listening to music with them, songs will suddenly speed up, stop, or change entirely. now, i have to invest in another pair because each time i move wrong, it'll glitch. not worth the $29 at all.

    Shocked Me

    • Written by Celina G from MOUNT HOLLY SPRINGS

I got the headphones with my iPhone 8 Plus that I got last year. Since I've had them, they've worked just fine. Though, recently the left side stopped working as it would randomly go in and out. Then, I started hearing weird sparky noises while using them and then the left headphone bud started shocking my ear and then it went to the right ear bud and kept shocking my fingers when I took them out. It was pretty weird and has definitely never happened with any other headphones I've had. There was no physical damage to them for them to break, they just randomly tried to explode when in use. Pretty disappointed. Now, because they malfunctioned I'll have to drop $30 for new ones... I'm just going to find actual good quality headphones and cut my losses. It was nice they lasted this long, but only a year? Now, that's cheap quality.

    Not good

    • Written by Emma D from Camlachie

They broke within 6 months of me having them. There’s nothing wrong with them so I don’t know why they don’t work. Same with my ear buds I had befor they broke right away. I’m very disappointed because they are not cheap and I’m not happy that I have to buy new ones

Over all I don’t recommend getting these they may sound good and the quality is just not there
The quality of the earbuds them self are like doller store earbuds

I came here to prepare to purchase my second pair of these headphones but now that I see a lot of people experienced the same thing as me when their earphones broke too soon I changed my mind. I bought my first pair of these headphones about a month ago and they’re completely broken. About my 5 days ago the right ear piece stopped working and today no sound was emitted at all. I would expect this from a $8 pair of earphones from Walmart not apple headphones. As a matter of fact I have a cheap pair of earphones that I use for my MacBook Air that are so worn the wires are showing, but has worked much longer than these headphones. Granted the sound quality is subpar but they work! I’m truly sad that these don’t work well because these headphones are the only ones that fit in my 7 plus.

    Good - while they last!

    • Written by Tom G from Kaleen

Don’t get me wrong, the sound quality of these earbuds are actually quite good for the price. However, their abysmal longevity means you will find yourself constantly re-purchasing them. My pair came with my iPhone 8, and they were fine for my daily walk to school, and wearing around the place. However (as I’ve experienced with other Apple earbuds in the past) the sound quality and volume gradually diminished. For a while, the volume was so low I had to have the volume cranked to full-blast to hear my music - much to the annoyance of those around me. Currently, both main speakers have cut out completely, forcing me to sit the earbuds in my ears sideways, because now the only sound comes out of the bass speaker.

Ultimately, I wouldn’t waste your money buying a pair of these. There are plenty of other brands out there that don’t follow Apple’s ‘planned obsolescence’ ethos. Disappointed.

Great headphone quality for the sound but it’s not long lasting. After 2-3 months in you’ll need a replacement. Either the mic stops working or one side of the headphone stops working.

Good quality sound; lasted three months

    • Written by Jennifer L from Portland

These need a longer life, please, Apple. We pay good money for your products. How about some earpods that last? Got these new with the phone; right ear stopped working today. Sick of throwing money at these! And I can't WEAR your expensive wireless kind b/c I've got the wrong-shaped ear. Better earpods for the common people!

It doesnt last long, which is unfortunate since the music quality is decent. Wish apple cared about improving the components of these headphones instead of gunning for more profits, oh well
