    Beats X wireless Earphones

    • Written by Jeff M from Flower Mound

So Apple made a bad deal with this one. The Beats X wireless earphones worked great for about a year then the right side started cutting out. The sound was awesome, comfortable fit, nice feel to the product, but all that matters not one bit if they don't last more than a year or two. I expect better quality from Apple especially since we pay a premium for the Apple reputation. We've bought Apple products since the Mac LCII but have to start looking at other options if they are going to sell things that don't last. Hello Bose.

    Breaks breaks and breaks

    • Written by Kleber R from Burnaby

I bought my first one two years ago convinced by a friend who loved his Beats. He message me one day saying he got a new pair because his Beats had stopped working, then mine broke few weeks after, around 10 months since I purchased it. Luckily I went to the store right away so they could review and give me a new one. They did, then it broke again with 3 months, out of warranty already (replacement only has 90 days), the guy at the store helped me and got his manager to give me another one, the third one last for 4 months. I think now I will give up, this is not made to last, it is nice while it works, but one day it just doesn’t connect, or charge.

    Go to something else!!

Two pairs both die just out of warranty?

    • Written by Stephen W from Newcastle upon Tyne

Whilst I do find the practicality (Lightning cable charge) and comfort of the Beats X to be very good.
Sound is okay, not as good as Apple's free earphones.

The main issue is the battery. I had now bought 2 pairs, each pair managing to die just after warranty. I am now on pair three.
the problem being, currently they cost more to fix than to replace. They say the battery is a consumable.
This will be my last pair, and would recommend going for something else. They need to sort this out.

    Poor quality. Twice.

    • Written by Michael B from New York

My first pair stopped working after 12 months. The replacement pair lasted 5 months. Customer service was particularly apathetic. My only option was to pay $70 for a repair and hope they didn’t fail yet again. If you’re looking for more than 12 months of use maybe try elsewhere.

    Zero Stars if I could

    • Written by Wendy B from COLLEGE POINT

Stopped working all of a sudden and I cannot turn them on. I am able to see the power indicator light during charging but as soon as I unplug the earphones from the power supply the lights do not turn on. I am unable to factory reset or connect them to my iPhone. I have the latest firmware and tried everything listed on the support pages to no avail.

Per apple support, the only solution is to send the earphones in for repair with an out-of-warranty cost of $79.00 plus a $6.95 shipping which only includes a 90-day warranty. Maybe it's just me but why in the world would anyone go through the repair process/cost when they can spend a few more dollars for a new pair of the exact earphones, that come with a full year warranty??

TLDR: Get these if you can splurge $100 on a pair of disposable earphones.

    Terribly unreliable

    • Written by Connor J from Calgary

I received these headphones as a gift and initially was impressed. The quick charging and the fast connection was nice. Also the sound was very good. However, it did not take long for things to change. The wingtips that come with the headphones broke very quickly even though they were stored properly. The rubber on the wingtips is very flimsy and cheap and without the wingtips, the headphones fall out of my ears with even the slightest movements. Not long after this, I found the sound in one earphone going out. The connection within the headphones had broken and now I could only listen in both ears if I held the dead phones in a specific position. I messaged apple support and received a new pair in the mail. It’s a good thing they have a warranty because they must be giving out lots of new pairs. The headphones worked okay for a few months (with the exception of the wingtips breaking again), but then yet again the exact same thing happened. Out goes the sound in one ear. The headphones have been treated with only the utmost care, yet they cannot keep a connection for longer a few months. This time, they were no longer under warranty. So here I am writing this review about these terribly unreliable headphones made with cheap quality parts. I would NOT recommend these headphones to absolutely anyone.

I got these headphones as a gift and they lasted about 4-5 months before they became useless. I had high expectations as they are beats and I've never had an issue with this brand in the past. Now they connect and disconnect every 5 seconds, change volume without me touching it, lose battery life in 10 seconds, etc. I can't use them at all anymore because they're constantly malfunctioning. I will not be purchasing beats again as this was SUCH a huge waste of money, I could not be more frustrated. Believe what all of these reviews are telling you, don't buy these!!

    3 pairs and counting....

    • Written by Vernon A from London

I've just had to had an online chat with Apple Support to have the third pair of these returned and fixed. The first pair stopped charging. I was out of the country for an extensive period so I just bought a new pair and never bothered to ask for a repair. The second retail-purchased set had an issue where it would be fully charged but would just stop working completely various seconds/minutes after you turned them on. They replaced it. The third pair is now on its way back to be repaired/replaced after I had left it on charge for a while and when starting to use it again the right earpiece no longer produced any sound unless you twist the neckband-part of the cable. I think it's safe to say this is not a winning product in terms of reliability. I use them work work and recreation, so I rely on them at least 16 hours (2 charges) per day. Not one of your better products Apple (albeit Beats).

2nd pair failing right after the first one with the same problem

    • Written by Roman F from Cliffside Park

My headset stopped powering on and I couldn't fix it no matter what I did. I started using the same headset that I got my wife a couple of months later, and both it failed a few months later as well with the same issue.
Surprisingly this failure is common and happens to devices after warranty period is expired.

Although the quality is OK, I didn't expect to buy something that will fail so early.
Will definitely avoid in the future.

    Great until they weren't

    • Written by Abby B from Albany

Had these for less than a year and LOVED them. Until they randomly broke one day. They wouldn't hold a charge and would blink a red light. I sent them back to Apple and they said they were not covered under warranty. Which is ridiculous. They said they would fix for 80 dollars. Basically the price for a new pair. Don't bother buying them. It seems others have had the same issue and Apple needs to repair it for free.

Came here just to write how trash these things are and Beats in general

    • Written by Donte B from tlanta

Owned Beats X since their release and have had to have a replacement under warrant in the summer of 2017. So this is my second pair actually. I don't use them much at all because I have over the ear headphones and also iPods. But they serve as a good backup pair. Went to use them for the first time in a while and they will not turn on. Just blink red and white when plugged in which seems to indicate something is broken.

So I had one pair of Beats last about 4 months before needing a pair. My warranty replacement lasted around 2 years but with very light usage. Why are Beats so bad? The marketing is outstanding and I keep getting suckered into this nonsense. I feel like I need to go ahead and get a warranty replacement for my Studio3s before they break. I will never ever buy another Beats product again. Simply unacceptable for the premium we pay

Awesome - for 3 weeks. Then, very frustrating.

    • Written by Jason V from South orange

I now have a pile of beats x, each one lasting between 3 weeks and 6 months before they broke down. I know, I should have come in and get them replaced right? I reasoned that my time is worth more that the time to make the trip... yet here I am with my pile of dead bluetooth headphones. I have been an apple customer going on 3 decades and have never been so disappointed in an apple product's quality than I am with these - so much so that this is the first post I have ever made.

What's worse, is that the short time that they worked they were brilliant.

I LOVE BEATS except they stop working....

    • Written by Lynn R from Burbank

Beats...I was your biggest fan until I had to return you three times in one year because you stopped working on me. You have one job, keep music playing in my ears and you cannot follow through with this simple task consistently. I am afraid I will have to move on despite your low profile comfort and ease of compatibility in my apple filled world. I just cant rely on you. I am quitting you.

    Great while they work

    • Written by Molly H from WGC

Had these for 13 months and they no longer turned on. Contacted customer support and they advised I need a new battery for them which would cost three quarters of what I paid for them in the first place.. They’ve been used in the gym for an hour a day, 5 days a week for just over a year and the battery has broken - ridiculous! Go ahead and buy them if you want to spend a lot on something that breaks in a year. I’m going to a different brand.

    I agree - it's TERRIBLE!

    • Written by Maria G from West Dulwich

Bought two of these (one for me and one for my son). They were both working fine. But just when it got up to when the warranty is about to expire, it just stopped connecting! No amount of reset would work. It connects randomly for a few minutes then disconnects again.
I used to buy cheaper makes but decided to spend more and get a good brand. I bought Beats thinking I was buying quality but it is absolutely rubbish and not worth the money at all!
I definitely feel cheated with this product!

    They keep breaking

    • Written by Fateh-Karan C from Vancouver

Honestly, they are good earphones, that's it. I've had two pairs break in 6 months from battery issues, also the microphone isn't that good and this doesn't support hey Siri. As much as I like these if I could I would return these and get airpods or the new sony earphones with noise-cancelling
