It’s our trade-in and recycling program that’s good for you and the planet. If your current iPad is eligible for trade-in credit, you can offset the purchase price of a new one.* If it’s not eligible for credit, you can recycle it for free.
-
Just answer a few questions online or in an Apple Store regarding the condition of your iPad. We’ll provide either an estimated trade-in value or a simple way to recycle it.
If you’re trading in online, we’ll calculate your estimated trade-in value during the purchase of your new iPad. Then we’ll send you a trade-in kit (at no cost to you) so you can send us your device. Once we receive your trade-in device, a team will inspect it and verify its condition. If the condition matches what you described, we’ll credit the trade-in value to your purchase. If it doesn’t match, we’ll notify you of the revised value and confirm if you still want to move forward with the trade-in.
If you accept the trade-in estimate in the store, we’ll give you instant credit toward a purchase.
And if you choose to recycle your device, we’ll either handle it in the store or provide a prepaid shipping label so you can send your device to our accredited recycling partner.
-
Your estimated trade-in credit will be applied to the payment method used to purchase your new iPad once we confirm the condition of your trade-in device. If the trade-in value exceeds your purchase total, we’ll refund the difference on an Apple Store Gift Card. And if your device is not eligible for credit, we can recycle it for free or return it to you.
-
Once we receive your trade-in device, a team inspects it and verifies its condition. If the condition matches what you described, you will receive the estimated value. If it doesn’t match, we’ll notify you of the revised value and confirm if you still want to move forward with the trade-in.
-
If you’re trading in online, it generally takes 2–3 weeks. But the sooner you send us your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and apply the trade-in credit to your order. If you’re trading in at an Apple Store, you’ll receive either instant credit toward your next purchase or an Apple Store Gift Card you can use anytime.
