It’s simple. When you pair your Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) with your iPhone, you will be prompted to set up cellular service with your provider. Or you can set up service later using the Watch app on your iPhone.
Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS) uses the network connection of your nearby iPhone to send and receive text messages, answer phone calls, and receive notifications. The built-in GPS works independently of your iPhone for distance, pace, and route mapping in workouts. And you can do many other things independent of your iPhone, like measure your heart rate, play locally stored music, and pay with Apple Pay.
Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) features built-in cellular, giving you the freedom to stay fully connected with just your Apple Watch. You can make and receive phone calls, reply to messages, and get notifications — even when you don’t have your iPhone with you.
While service plans vary by carrier, many offer free or special trials for Apple Watch.

Once we receive your trade-in device, a team will verify its condition. If everything checks out you’re all set.
If you pay for your purchase in full, once we receive and verify your device, we’ll either refund the purchase method you used to buy your new Apple Watch or send you an Apple Store Gift Card via email. If the trade-in credit exceeds the cost of your new device, the remaining amount will be refunded to you on an Apple Store Gift Card. If the condition doesn’t match what you described, a new estimated trade-in value will be sent to you via email. You’ll have the option to either accept this revised quote or reject it. If you reject it, your device will be sent back to you at no charge.
If you accept the trade-in estimate in the store, we’ll give you instant credit toward a purchase.
And if you choose to recycle your device, we’ll either handle it in the store or provide a prepaid shipping label so you can send your device to our accredited recycling partner.
If you use Apple Card Monthly Installments and include a trade-in, your estimated trade-in credit is instantly applied to the purchase price of your new Apple Watch.* Once we receive your trade-in device and confirm that the condition matches what you described, there’s nothing more you need to do.
If you pay in full, your trade-in value is applied as a credit to your original payment method after we receive your old device and confirm that the condition matches what you described.
In either case, if we provide a revised trade-in value based on the condition of your old device, we’ll work with you to confirm that you still want to move forward with the trade-in.
