It’s simple. When you pair your Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) with your iPhone, you will be prompted to set up cellular service with your provider. Or you can set up service later using the Watch app on your iPhone.
Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) uses the network connection of your nearby iPhone to send and receive text messages, answer phone calls, and receive notifications. The built-in GPS works independently of your iPhone for distance, pace, and route mapping in workouts. And you can do many other things independent of your iPhone, like measure your heart rate, play locally stored music, and pay with Apple Pay.
Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) features built-in cellular, giving you the freedom to stay fully connected with just your Apple Watch. You can make and receive phone calls, reply to messages, and get notifications — even when you don’t have your iPhone with you.
Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) does not support international roaming.
But you’ll still be able to complete a call to emergency services almost anywhere in the world.*** Just press and hold the side button on Apple Watch Series 5 with cellular and you’ll be connected to the help you need, even if you’re nowhere near your iPhone.
It’s our trade-in and recycling program that’s good for you and the planet. If your current Apple Watch is eligible for trade-in credit, you can offset the purchase price of a new one.* If it’s not eligible for credit, you can recycle it for free.
Just answer a few questions either online or in an Apple Store regarding the model and condition of your Apple Watch. We’ll provide either an estimated trade-in value or a simple way to recycle it.
If you’re trading in online, we’ll calculate your estimated trade-in value during the purchase of your new Apple Watch. Then we’ll send you a trade-in kit (at no cost to you) so you can send us your device. Once we receive your trade-in device, a team will inspect it and verify its condition. If everything checks out, we’ll either refund the purchase method you used to buy your new Apple Watch or send you an Apple Store Gift Card via email. If the trade-in credit exceeds the cost of your new device, the remaining amount will be refunded to you on an Apple Store Gift Card. If the condition doesn’t match what you described, a new estimated trade-in value will be sent to you via email. You’ll have the option to either accept this revised quote or reject it. If you reject it, your device will be sent back to you at no charge.
If you accept the trade-in estimate in the store, we’ll give you instant credit toward a purchase.
And if you choose to recycle your device, we’ll either handle it in the store or provide a prepaid shipping label so you can send your device to our accredited recycling partner.
Apple Music requires a subscription.
*Trade-in values vary based on condition, year, and configuration of your trade-in device, and may also vary between online and in-store trade-in. You must be at least 18 years old. Apple or its trade-in partners reserve the right to refuse or limit any trade-in transaction for any reason. In-store trade-in requires presentation of a valid, government-issued photo ID (local law may require saving this information). Additional terms from Apple or Apple’s trade-in partners may apply.
**AppleCare+ provides coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling. Each incident is subject to a service fee or deductible plus applicable taxes.
