  • Overview

Completely redesigned, LaCie's 2big hard drive delivers versatility and reliability along with the performance of Thunderbolt 2 technology and hardware RAID. Now the interface is no longer a performance bottleneck, thanks to the Thunderbolt 2 I/O—which gets peak speeds of 420 MB/s out of the hard disks.

With this kind of speed, videographers can edit multiple 2K uncompressed 10-bit streams or play back compressed 4K video. Digital photographers can browse a massive RAW photo library with zero lag. And, thanks to support for DisplayPort 1.2, it's possible to daisy chain higher-resolution displays such as 4K monitors.

      Works great, but not silent

Drive works great and is very fast. I use it to store a large amounts of camera RAW photos and to do audio work. The only reason I have given it four stars is that with audio work, the drive could be quieter. Not bad bearings or disk head noisy, just fan and spin sound. It is connected using an Apple brand Thunderbolt cable to my MacBook Pro and stays mounted just fine.

      easy install and documentation

Read the instructions and it is easy. The dropping was fixed with a firmware update and sleep setting, stays connected and wakes on touch of the keyboard.
