The drive is showing as unreadable and macOS has failed to repair it. I have never encountered issues this substantial in a new drive before and given the obviously higher than usual price point I expected quality. I am sorry to say I was mistaken.

You can connect the drive to a USB-3 & USB-C to USB-C connector (e.g. USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter), then use the connector to connect to external power and the MacBook. Not very elegant. With these caveats, the drive seems good; nice to have 4 TB for big cameras.

Especially when you reach down deep into your backpack to grab something. I’ve cut myself twice in the last two days. They’re annoying papercuts that bleed enough to get blood all over whatever you grab before realizing your bleeding, I’m going to put some scotch 35 vinyl tape over the edges now for safety so so much for the sleek design. Hard to believe the design engineers let this thing go to production!

This drive failed after a couple of weeks - no warning 4TB of data not backed up for > 1 week. Come on LaCie - why the disparity?? Had the drive for more than 14 days (not many) so now have to go through the laborious process of getting a refund. Sad day DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE
