      Overly complex set-up

HP tried to make wireless set up of its printer simple, seemingly encouraging customers to use their iPhone app to set up the printer. After about 15 minutes of HP tried to make wireless set up of its printer simple, seemingly encouraging customers to use their iPhone app to set up the printer. After about 15 minutes of following this process, I got stuck on the "sign up for HP's ink jet service." I tried saying "no." Suddenly the entire installation seemed to freeze. Nothing I could do -- and I'm reasonably computer proficient -- could get the printer unstuck. And there doesn't seem to be an easy way to reset the printer back to factory settings. I spent about 2-3 hours trying to get the printer to work. Finally resorted to contacting HP's customer service. After 15 minutes of chatting with someone . . . they finally tell me to call another department, who is currently closed. Pffft. Printers shouldn't be this tricky. Plug it in, find the driver, and start printing. I'd pass on HP for now.
