Fingerprints over the display. "Shimmering" screen

I have a previous version of this display and the updated version I received is different -- there's a more yellow tint to the panel (which is fine) but there's I have a previous version of this display and the updated version I received is different -- there's a more yellow tint to the panel (which is fine) but there's also a strange "shimmer" effect that you can see when glancing across the display. It's hard to explain but it's like the pixel density isn't uniform and there are vertical "rivers" going across the display. The old one does not have this issue. The display also arrived with clearly visible fingerprints on both sides of the display, I'm guessing that's where the worker just grabbed it by the screen to put it in the box. This should not happen with a new in box item and is a sign of lax quality standards at LG...

Not sure it’s worth the money

Setup - easy. you don’t even need to open the display settings - the Mac knows the monitor’s position, and the mouse acts appropriately. Physical aspects: Setup - easy. you don’t even need to open the display settings - the Mac knows the monitor’s position, and the mouse acts appropriately. Physical aspects: does not match iMac - black plastic with thinner bezels More important - the connection for both power and USB-c input are lose. Every time I physically adjusted the screen - either up & down or moving the entire unit, the connections became unconnected and screen went black. Luckily I don’t reposition the monitor that much. Screen quality: Sharpness, not quite as sharp as the iMac. Text is larger. I also tried the scaling setting instead of native resolution, but the results were worse. Color - this would be best described by pictures, but I can’t add any to the review The LG has a yellow cast.I switched from the native LG color profile to iMac one and then tried all the others. The one I liked the best was "image p3". Even in P3, the yellowish cast is still there, but when put next to the iPad, the colors are much closer, though still a bit warmer. Conclusion: when I first compared it to the iMac, I was ready to return it. Once I compared it to the iPad —which is where I do almost all my art — I saw it was much closer to what I saw on the iPad and to the final print product. Worth the price over other 27” monitors? Don’t know - going to a store later to check the others out.

They are mega bright and crisp when looking at the text with the hidpi. I originally wanted the 5k but it was still the old one so I didn't order it. Anyway, I ordered and received the new 5k today and I like the size but the screen was no where as near as bright as one of the 23.7 screens standing next to it. In terms of resolution, you have more room on the display but not much visually striking when comparing them side by side, albeit it is 5k but in retina mode on the 23.7 really hard to see a diff. I was planning to use 27 and one of the 23.7 side by side, but as I said the brightness difference was immediately noticeable and I had it on the brightest setting. I tried it with each monitor connected to opposite sides of the MacBook Pro., still no change. The other thing just a bit weird is that the 5k will rise higher than the 23.7 on its vertical stand which is a shame for the 23.7 since I much more prefer the higher height capability. Anyway, I sent if back unfortunately because I wasn't sure if was a defective screen.

      Mixed Results so far

My only issue is that the camera periodically stops working with MS Teams or Webex. I can not tell if this is an app issue or the camera issue. Otherwise, love the monitor

      Disappointed; Not worth the price

Received in Jan 2017. Black screen was prevalent and caused unexpected shutdown/reboots with MacBook Pro. After months of troubleshooting with Apple, it was determined that the problem is with lack of proper shielding on the LG monitor. Sent to LG who fixed it. Problem seemed resolved for months. Now for unknown reason, monitor appears lifeless (though power going through cord to MacAir). Connect to my MacAir, and MacAir screen becomes as black as the LG display. Determined no issue with the Mac. Once again, I need to send my LG off to repair, and this time, out of warranty. When its working, the display is nice, but not worth the price compared to other brands.

The monitor has four ports for USB-C, one of which is marked with a lighting icon: is this a power cable? Do I not need the 110V power cable at all? If I need both (which I suspect I do) then why mark it as if it is power-only? I hooked the Thunderbolt cable to my MBP and to another USB-C port on the monitor. The monitor is dead as a doornail. The app from LG is as useless as the dead monitor. No buttons, no explanations, for the monitor that was supposed automatically with a Mac and costs 3 times more than competition. Another "lowly" 4K monitor at my home for $280 has no problems whatsoever. "Well done" LG and Apple!
