Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display)

Need some help?
  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe I've had this macbook charger for almost 2.5 years and the rubber on the cord started ripping open in just one year. It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      On 3rd Charger

I am a die-hard Apple junkie, but this charger is terrible. I'm on my third year of ownership of my MacBook Pro with Retina and also on my third charger. Frankly I feel this is unacceptable in that a company who takes pride and promotes their high quality and durability in their products, has a product that only has a life span of just over a year. I feel that a cord should truly last 3 years at least. Especially when you are paying for the premium of Apple. It is disappointing that I will now have had to go and buy a new charger after being extremely cautious with the second charger. I've done everything to never stress or strain the cord. Yet still it is now failing by getting so hot it burns your hand. I feel there should at least be some sort of warrant on these cables. I just expect more from Apple. I own several other Apple products and all of them have met far beyond my quality and durability standards but I hope and pray that my voice is heard by Apple to please do something about this. The functionality and physical appeal on the product is why it does deserve at least 2 stars. But the life span of the product is far too short especially when I have taken care of the cord to ensure it lasts.

      Please stop making these

I agree with others, please make better quality products. It’s a known problem, why can’t you fix it?
