  • Overview

The 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display.

rubber on the cord rips open

It's truly disappointing as my old magsafe charger from 2010 is still functional and hasn't ripped open. The quality of the charger declined so far where your older models are outliving the newer ones by almost 5 years is completely outrageous. I've taped up the opening with electrical tape since it's expensive to replace. Obviously these things are made to fall apart so people will have to keep buying it over and over. It's these little petty things that keeps me from wanting to support apple products other than the macbook pro.

My MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina Display (Late 2013) came with this Magsafe 2 power adaptor. Not long after use, it started yellowing, which was no big deal. Then it started fraying at the end that connects to my MacBook, as well as throughout the cable. It is extremely unreliable, and I have to keep checking to see if it is still charging! If a replacement power adaptor cost around $30-$50, it would not be as big of a deal. But, $80! What the heck, Apple! I spend $2000 on a laptop, and then $80 for each power adaptor??

      On 3rd Charger

I am a die-hard Apple junkie, but this charger is terrible. I'm on my third year of ownership of my MacBook Pro with Retina and also on my third charger. Horrible Quality

My Mid 2014 mac book pro's power adapter insulating material is already torn off. Subpar quality from a Trillion Dollar tech giant.

The poor lifespans of these cords is pathetic. The replacement price is appalling, even when you're used to paying the "Apple premium" for otherwise high-quality products. I can't believe I have to buy a new one of these cords -- it's infuriating.

      Frayed wire and stopped working

$79 for a power chord replacement?! Apple is not going to hold against the next techies who are producing more reliable products within better price ranges. Aft $79 for a power chord replacement?! Apple is not going to hold against the next techies who are producing more reliable products within better price ranges. After all, I’ve had this power chord less than 5 years and within the first 2 years the wire began to fray. I had to put electrical tape on it twice within its lifespan and today the wire finally stopped charging. Very dissatisfied with this product and slowly but surely losing my faith in Apple as this era of new tech giants are catching my attention with innovation.
